Magic Keys (all 4) going back on sale tomorrow, April 11.

Does the blockout calendar change at all? Looking at an Enchant key but am on the fence, if the blockout calendar for January 2024 stays the same I am good but I'm not sure if they can add more blockout days later?

They changed it in 2022 midway through. I think maybe in August when they started selling passes again? There were less blackout dates for both believe and enchant when the passes started.

Disney World is releasing a pass for DVC. I haven’t done the math… would be interesting to see if it’s worthwhile for DVC.
We are WDW passholders, too, although I'm about to let ours lapse. It makes much more sense there and is worth it after about 2 trips (Sorcerers Pass). I think we are ramping down our WDW stays so I don't want to commit. We usually go for RunDisney events, but WDW has become much more of a chore for various reasons. We live in Northern California so it's a bit of a schlep, too.

Oh yes. That’s a huge trip from Northern California. We haven’t done any Disney World trips since we moved to Southern California…. We may be moving back home and if we do the number one thing I’m excited about besides being back with family is easy nonstop 2 hour flights to Orlando!

Funny you mentioned nonstop. That's probably my single biggest issue with WDW since the pandemic--Southwest took all the nonstops from the Bay Area to MCO away. I hate flying out of SFO (United) so from OAK it's always a connection now.

UT didn’t provide instructions?
No, the original post said you couldn’t buy Genie plus when you buy tickets…. I was stating that I was able to do so last week. So I was super confused as to what you meant in your post.

I think the original post was wondering how you can add G+ to a ticket when you buy from UT but not one from Disney. But they are mistaken because you can add G+ to a ticket from Disney when you buy; it’s there as an add-on (at least for the multi-day tix I was looking at).

I think that change only applied to WDW tickets. I don't think you can but Genie+ in advance there anymore.

I'm doing the math for my scenario. We have DVC at BLT and plan to buy at Disneyland Tower when it goes on sale. I used to have the Premier pass that covered both parks--I miss that!

Husband is only interested in WDW once a year for Food and Wine. I can usually get him to Disneyland once a year as well. I often go to WDW twice a year (once with him, and once solo). For me the Sorcerer's pass going on sale on Thursday is a good value. For him, we'd just continue to buy regular tickets.

Now just wondering about the Inspire Pass at DLR. For me, DLR has always been less attractive because of the high cost of accommodations. That issue will be less important once I have the Tower DVC. We recently moved to Vegas from Northern California, so I can see myself driving in more often for solo vacations especially once the Tower opens.

For me, the included parking at the lots, the photopass downloads, and the 15% off dining at select locations are not any value to me. I'd have to go four times (4+ night stays) per year to exceed the cost of regular tickets. If I just buy regular tickets, I wouldn't have to worry about Disney limiting Magic Key holder park reservations.

If you've read my entire thought process, can you see anything I am missing? I am leaning towards buying the WDW pass and skipping the Magic Key Pass. I recall that DLR sometimes has special stuff just for Magic Key holders--I didn't pay attention to any of it in the past--Anyone who has the Magic Key can chime in about the value of these.

Many thanks!

Just want to chime in on the reservation limits. I’ve never not gotten a park pass for Disneyland resort and they often reopen up after a day says it’s booked, especially the night before because of the 3 strikes system.

In queue, opened tons of links ahead of time and most were an hour+, two dropped pretty quickly to 55 and are now at 20 so I closed the rest.

ah! I have several tabs opened, all at different times and all still showing over an hour

I'm not sure if tabs work, they usually need to be either different browser types or devices, or private browsers (Safari works for this, Chrome does not). Otherwise they essentially generate the same queue ID. So if you have one Chrome window, an incognito Chrome window, they should have separate IDs in the background, but an additional incognito Chrome window will have the same ID as the first incognito Chrome window. Safari will give unique IDs to every private window which is an advantage. Tabs within the same window typically generate the same ID and are basically identical queues if that makes sense. The graphic is pretty accurate, so if the progress bar looks different you should be fine. Keep 'em open til it progresses far enough for you to tell.

Do you buy a lot of merchandise? The 20% discount can be a good deal if so. The dining discount is available practically everywhere, and don't forget about the Downtown Disney 10% discounts everywhere also. Merch and dining. Although if you already get DVC discounts for those things, probably not a big deal.

I agree with what a PP mentioned. While dates on the Magic Key calendar do become full often, it is very dynamic. I never had an issue getting a reservation for the day I wanted. Plus, I believe having a DVC reservation will put you in the hotel bucket of reservations which is hardly ever full. Other than that, it doesn’t sound like a Key is a good investment for you if you won’t use the discounts.
