Magic, January 16, 2010--Winter Day Castaways

Yeah, looks like that's probably what's going to happen w/ us. I just get worried because our cat is such a cuddler & NEVER even sleeps at night by herself anywhere. She's always cuddled up to anyone she finds first on their bed:lovestruc. It's funny, wonder what they think (or if they think:confused3), when you leave them for that amount of time. I imagine it goes something like "gee, wonder if they're ever coming back?:confused3. Oh well, at least my food dish is taken care of:rotfl:."

I have a cat and live by myself so she sleeps on my bed every night. But this past year I took a new job that required me to travel almost every week for 4 nights so she got used to the pet-sitter coming by to feed her every day or every other. After a few weeks I know she could care less if I ever came home because she KNEW her food dish was always taken care of! :rotfl:

Soooo excited! I was just able to get the forecast for the day we arrive in Port Canaveral!! Which means..........it's very close to cruise time!:cloud9: And.........it showed 68 degrees for a high next Friday! Hopefully it will be the same temp or warmer at sailaway :genie:. After all the things on the evening news tonight about "unusually cold" & "record breaking lows" in the south, I was getting a little depressed that I'd be leaving New England weather to just end up in bitter cold FL.:confused3 I'll be checking the forecast tomorrow for sailaway party!:yay: 9 days til we sail off into the sunset:love: Hopefully the weather gods have mercy on us with harsh enough winters already!:thumbsup2

:woohoo:yeahhh. My brother just got back and it was in the 40's in Orlando. I will be happy for the upper sixties compared to the sinches of snow an teens I have in Indiana.

I also got a really good geal on priceline for the Country Inn and Suites. I am staying there the night before for $63 including taxes... This is over half price. I guess that means I get to buy the new purse I wanted....

I have been obsessively checking the weather - so far so good! I used to work in TV so I know at least in Cleveland that anything forecast over 48 hours is just an educated guess - but it makes me feel better to look (and see 68 degrees:goodvibes).

Bought my magnet paper today - can you say "expensive"? Used a Michaels coupon so I am going back for more today - buying 1 pack (that holds 5 sheets) at a time may take awhile but I am cheap (frugal, thrifty... those sound better).

I also got some of those packing cubes from ebags - anyone ever use them? I hope they keep me organized.

Weather.com says that it will be 73 degrees on Saturday, Jan. 16th!! That sounds fantastic right now! I can't believe it's getting so close. Now here's for hoping we have good weather in Denver when we fly out. lol. I don't need any snow delays!

the report I saw showed rain for next Sat.:guilty:. I hope not! I have been looking forward to the sailaway party & standing on deck 10 watching it for months now. It's still far enough away the weather could be wrong.:confused3 Ill take 73degrees, but I'll take a pass on the rain!

It's a snow day here in Illinois today...expecting up to 11 inches of snow. Soooo.....we are all stuck home :(.

At least I can pack and dream of warmer weather in 9 days!!

For me, a little rain will be fine. As long as it is clear during the sailaway party, I don't care what it does the rest of the day. Rain showers never last too long over there anyway. :)

I don't use the packing bags, but I do use big ziploc bags. When you roll and "burp" them they work very much like the vacumn bags. Also, keeps things dry when accidents happen. We once left on a cruise out of Baltimore in a downpour. I watched as the baggage handler threw Kari's canvas suitcase in a puddle of water. Thank goodness I had learned to pack in plastic bags. I actually learned this from a friend who had their suitcase land in the Amazon river of all places:scared1:

I'll take that!!! REPEAT after me...

Warm weather, tropical weather, warm weather, tropical weather...
Could be a mantra for the yoga class:rotfl:

I just bought a "magnetic sheet" @ Michaels that I can cut out to the size of my pics. The I print the pics on "post-it" printing paper. Then just cut the magnet sheet to what I need. One sheet made all of my magnets for last year & this year. I got the packing cubes too. I really like them. I fit all of DD's clothes in one medium sized. Minus the princess gowns.

We just ordered the packing cubes will be using them for the 1st time. Also, got the shirt folder in two sizes we also use the vacum bags to save space.

okay, so now I am going to be checking the weather every hour from now until next Friday;). Just checked it again and the rain forecast has disappeared and become 73 and mostly cloudy:yay:. Ummmmmm, I think I'd like to hold at that forecast please:love:. My Aunt and her family, who are cruising with us, are all home sick today:sick:. Her DD9 has been sick since the day after Christmas. Not consistently, but this is the 3rd antibiotic they've put her on to try and shake it. Hope the 3rd time's a charm:confused3
At least it happened this week and not next. I told her she needs to stay away from my house though:laughing:. 8 days left!:woohoo:

Okay..for those of you who are experts or at least, experienced..

How many outfits do you pack for each person?

Ie: How many shorts/tops outfits?
How many dressier?

I started with my son and feel like I'm packing too much, but don't want to be left without enough things.

Is it convenient to do laundry on the ship?

Also, I feel like no matter what I do..everything always shows up wrinkled. For our dressier outfits..is it worth getting a travel iron?? Or, what do you all do for that?

While you are all at the sail-a-way party in tanks and shorts in 73 degree weather, I'll be standing on deck with my sweater, longjohns and jacket on! :rotfl2: Maybe this cold snap will make me appriciate the lukewarm weather more.:rotfl:

We pack 2 pairs of shorts and a pair of jeans with tops, 2 cruise casual dinner wear, and our formal/semi-formal clothes. We find that so much time is spent in swimwear that for us this is just the right amount. The laundry is easy to use on board and an iron is available. I don't think you can have an iron in the room but I would love to have a travel steamer.

:banana: I was begining to think I might have to pack you in our luggage to get you on board. Wonder what took so long?

No idea, but I had called that morning to find out where the were and the agent said that they had been sent out the day before--on Wednesday. Cutting a big short, aren't we?

Glad you finally got it. I would have been going crazy. Not that I think we even need it to board.
I have to finish filling out my MIL's on board info. Then i think i'm done.
My girls evening wear is packed (i think. I might give some of the hems of the dresses a once over).

I'm trying to decide what to take for during the day. Do I want to wear all my disney t-shirts that I wear in disney? or not? Once I decide that it will be easier to pack.

My aunt STILL hasn't gotten hers. DCL said they shipped them to the TA at the same time as mine, but I kind of find it hard to believe. From what I've seen on the boards, previous cruisers get them shipped to them first and 1st time cruisers after. She's a first time cruiser. The TA is looking for them now. She filled out all the paperwork, but she needs the luggage tags that have her room # on them so that when we hand them to the porter at the terminal, they get to her room. The DCL CM said that she could always get them at the airport from the Disney desk but we don't get to MCO til 10:30 at night:scared1:. We leave our house at 2:30 Friday afternoon for the airport to catch a 6:50 flight (Boston traffic on a Friday afternoon is horrific). Then fly to MCO, make our way down to Budget. Long day already! The last thing we're going to want to do is find the Disney desk and deal with that:sad2:. Hopefully they can just mail her the tags ASAP if the TA can't find them. Weather is still looking good!:thumbsup2

I have heard that you can also get them from the porter at the dock.
