Magic, January 16, 2010--Winter Day Castaways

Hey folks. Any tips for getting one dinner resv. for Palo?? I'm frustrated that it's full. I just got all my documents, and didn't know what Palo was until about 3 days ago. I sat down tonight to book reservations and they're all full :(

I hate being a Newbie..feel like I don't know anything.

There will be no problem with getting a Palo res as long as you are flexiable. Just go to Rockin' Bar D after boarding (deck 3, go right after you board). Not all Palo ressies are available online because Disney realizes not everyone will be able to pre-book. Of course sea days will be the most popular. We have ressies at 7 on the St Thomas day and I may change depending on the entertainment for the night. You will get a call/note about what time they have available for you.

Knowing the Disney love of puns and word play, I could 99% say it's the first...and I've never been on the Magic or Wonder.

.......and speaking of exercise, and wanting to try and walk a couple of miles around the ship on sea days, as well as do the pilates and yoga classes. If anyone else is in, it's easier to commit to it if you've got a partner with you!

Oh, I would love to commit to classes with others. I will do the spinning and yoga (being a nurse I have a problem with my heel and have to be selective so I can work when I come home, lol). I also love to swim, and the adult pool is always empty at 5-6 pm.

Of course some of the best exercise available is taking the stairs.

YES to stairs, all the time, even in heels. I've got to make sure I'm ready for 99 Steps in St. Thomas.

In the past I couldn't do yoga (sciatica was too intense) or pilates (too much pressure on lower back), but I've had some AMAZING progress with it in the last two years, so I'm excited to try again. Currently I do gyrotonics twice a week without any sciatica problems, so I'm really excited to do a yoga class again.

I'm tempted to try the spinning, but I haven't been in a class that had aerobic expectations in a v. v. long time.

Do you have heelspurs and/or plantar fascitis that make it difficult?

Attention Fish Extender Friends

This is the current list of FE participants. As time is short (16 days ) we will not be able to add anyone after today. Please contact me ASAP if you are on the list and no longer want to be, or if I have been in contact with you, but you do not see your family represented.

I will PM the details (room numbers, names, ages etc) so as not to post for all of the world to view:surfweb:.

Our cruise is getting close and I'm getting excited :woohoo: :dance3:

I'm DEFINITELY in on the workouts. I live in a small town, and our gym is TERRIBLE. I'm looking forward to the chance to do some fun activities, reminds me of my old gym once upon a time. I love pilates...:)

Ohhhh I'm in on the workouts! I am a little bit of a nut when it comes to that stuff. Just did pilates last night. I'm not a runner, but walking, Yoga, Pilates and (thoug I've never tried it) spinning would all be great!

For anyone who didn't get their docs yet there is a post on the main cruise board to a UPS tracking page where you enter your ressie #, country, zip and dates & it tells you if they're in transit.

Can you tell me where this is? I'm having a difficult time finding it.

No need to reply, our Travel Agent said she has them and they will arrive on Saturday. Can't wait to have a 'Magic'al time.

Speaking of princess night...

On my last cruise we had a "Grown-up Princess Night" coinciding with the last formal night so that we could feel special as well as all of the little girls. (There were about 400 people in our DIS meet on-board.) It was hysterical to see all of the other ladies looking at us wondering why we were all wearing gloves and tiaras with our formal dresses... but SO much fun!!

I have a tshirt that says Pirate Princess and wore it with a tiara on the Pirate Party night.

OK, I am new to the board as well (glad to see I am not the only one). We are going to be on the Magic cruise on the 16th (myself ::MickeyMo, my wife ::MinnieMoand our 3 daughters :earsgirl::earsgirl::earsgirl:- 12, 10 and 8 (at cruise time)).

I am confused by all the acronyms...can someone explain what DH, DD, DS and maybe some others I haven't seen yet mean?

We went on a 4 day Disney cruise about 4 years ago, but frankly I did not do any preparation for that.

This time I am a bit more prepared....

I have filled out all the online forms, registered everyone and now I have found this discussion board. I have also booked one excursion on St. Maarten (a downhill mountain trek), but nothing else.

I have heard there might be a 5K run at Castaway Cay, which I am interested in.

I guess the next pressing question is...what else should I be thinking about? I know we are only about 2 weeks away, but better late than never.

So many questions, so little time...

:confused3

Metro..

I'm with you on all of the questions. I think booking your excursions ahead of time is great, we are in the process of doing that.

We missed booking PALO, which apparently is all booked up according to online resv., but others on the site say you can still get reservations onboard, as long as you do it right away.

Otherwise, sounds like you're all set.

Where in Chicago are you?? We're in the WAY Northern Suburbs..on the Wisconsin border.

Hey All...

Since many of you have done this before. How many people dress up for Pirate night?? My son was a pirate last year for Halloween, costume is a tad small, but I'm taking it. My daughter wants me to get her one now too...so I'm looking on Ebay.

Do adults dress up?? If so, how many? My neighbors have costumes we can borrow, but I don't want to lug extra things if only a handful of people dress up. My kids will for sure, but am not sure on the two of us :)

A lot of people dressed up for pirate night. My DD7 has a costume. DH has a shirt w/ a rib cage on it and a skull cap and eye patch ( and he'll only wear all that if he has " a few" before hand:drinking1. ). I have a peasant skirt and shirt I wear with a pirate hat. DS14 also has the shirt w/ a rib cage on it that he'll wear. Its really a matter of personal choice. You won't look out of place if you do dress up. But you wont look out of place if you don't either. But I would definitely make sure to bring the kids costumes.pirate:

:welcome::welcome: DH,DD,DS,DW........Disney/Dear- Husband, Daughter, Son, Wife. You should join us on our Dismeet @ 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on the ship.

was just reading on DCL's website that they provide you with an ipod shuffle and complimentary water while you workout. There's really no excuse not to huh?:)

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE dress for Pirate Night!!! I've convinced my crew to dress up but it hasn't been easy because they think they're going to look silly. I keep telling them they won't look as outrageous as me because I'm wearing the outfit I had for my last cruise when I knew people designing authentic Pirates of the Caribbean costumes JUST for that cruise!! Again, there won't be as many in our DIS meet this time, but just for reference...

(and yes, the front row 3rd from left IS dressed just like Captain Jack and he doesn't work for Disney! lol)
