Hi everyone. I posted way back in the first thread. I am a lurker but decided to say hi again.

It’s DH Gary 41, Me Joleen 35, DS 12yr, DS 18months, DD 6mo, DM (dear mom? Sure I’ll tell everyone she is 59), and DG (dear Grandma 84)
This is our third cruise. Me, DH and kids just went in Oct 09 Western. This trip was intended for getting my grandma and my mother on a family cruise, moms first. My sister was to come but chickened out.

What was she thinking?
I think in St Thomas DH and I

am doing the all day sail, snorkel and honeymoon beach. Grandma and mom are taking the two boys to the butterfly and island tour and then back to the ship (baby girl goes to Flounders till they get back).
In St Maarten I am hoping for Bernard’s, I just sent a message inquiring about reservations an hour ago. Wish us luck.
We are land locked here in CO and enjoy the beach.

Gosh the water is soooo warm. I am from San Diego and thought the beach was no big deal and cold. Then I felt the water in the Caribbean in Oct 08 & 09. OMG, I love the beach! The beach is now my favorite part. We are also leaving snow and the cold behind so even 60’s is going to be swim suite weather for us. So for now we look foreward to seeing the beach.
We fly in on Wend and are staying two days at Universal. We are on site and am hoping we don’t regret paying the outrageous prices to stay on site. On Friday we are staying at a cheap hotel near the airport (we pick up DG at 6 on Friday she is coming in from San Diego) We did Disney in 08, off site at an economy and really regretted it. We wish we had just spent the extra for on site.
Has anyone done Universal? Any recommendations or helpful hints?
For the newbie’s I would look into Palo dinner, and/or Brunch right when you first get on (if you have no reservations now), then it should not be to difficult to get. Also look into any beer, wine, martini or margarita classes. They are 15pp. I did the martini tasting and was disappointed. However, DH did the beer tasting and thought it was great and worth it. I think I am trying the wine or margarita tasting this time. Any suggestions? After two years of babies and BF.... bring on the liq.

I have heard of these selling out the first day. In October the tastings were not full. We also had to cancel one person to cover the kids, so even if they do sell out ask to be wait listed if interested. Also you can request to be wait listed for early seating for the one who asked. We were wait listed for early seating and got it. Then try again when you first get on. There is also tea with Alice (? I think that’s right) and I heard often these book the first day.
Also some people get to the port early. There is often Mickey or Minnie to get pictures with. There are tv’s playing Disney movies and a replica of the ship that is interesting. Then once on ship you eat lunch and swim, explore the ship and such. Others are in no rush to get on ship. Early is 10ish, with boarding around 11:30ish.
I personally enjoy getting there early.
For everyone, this ship is full. I tried to add my niece and they said there was no room left, the life boats are at max and would not add her.
Great to be cruising with you all. Nice to see a another boy was added.
