Magic in the Kingdom 2012! BIG 2/16/2014 FINAL UPDATE!

The Carl and Ellie montage has to be one of the most beautiful scenes of any movie, animated or not. SO well done and touching. I cried.

Then laughed hysterically at Doug, "I would very much like for you to pet me" and "squirrel" such a weird concept, but it worked on Doug. The other dogs... not so much.

Glad you got to enjoy!

Totally agree. When we saw it in the theater I will admit I did tear up. Now everytime I watch it, it will tear at my heartstrings. I love this movie.
The montage makes the move GREAT.

I really would have been a basket case seeing it in a theater. As it was I was sort of doing some other things, but stopped to go watch closer.

I am soooo glad you watched Up! And I'm glad your Katie decided to let herself enjoy it!!!

I'm excited for your little Disney day this summer! Now that the summer Visa Cardholder discount was announced, I'm itching to go! :hyper: But even though I grew up in the south, I'm not PAYING to stand outside in the heat! :offtopic: Although, Jenn was talking about Williamsburg, and that has my attention a little bit now! :rotfl:

You should go take a peek at the pictures I uploaded on my TR… a little throwback!

I'll try to post pics to facebook while I am there. :thumbsup2 I am excited, but nervous too because it is so different than what I have done for so many years. I get that way with new things sometimes. Everyone tells me this (April) is the perfect time to go though.

We generally just don't do theme parks in the summer. I just am a total whimp in the heat. But since we're going to Florida..... I just couldn't NOT go. That's why it's really just for on evening. We've done that before and had a lot of fun for that one night. But I just couldn't go for longer and make that my Disney trip for the dream. Once you've been in Nov/Dec and seen the good life (WDW in a sweatshirt!) then there's no going back to summer.

I just saw your photos. OMG! What precious memories! :goodvibes How awesome that you're sharing WDW with your own family now too. I didn't make it to Disney until I was an adult. We went for one day to Epcot in 1992. We then took the boys for one day to the MK in 1999. One day in the MK..... who does that? Oops..... apparently I do! ;) Not to worry though. On this trip we were in the MK for all or part of 7 days! :lmao:

I'm so excited for you trying something new! I love Disney, but I also love getting out and seeing new things. Fingers crossed you get the picture perfect weather you are hoping for!

I interrupt this slow moving Disney trip report........ with a little more Disney!

Wednesday night we got a little dose of Disney right here at home with a trip to Disney on Ice! I have always loved watching ice skating. When you combine it with Disney costumes and music..... it's a slam dunk!

I love photographing beautiful things, particularly beautiful shows with lots of action. So I love shooting Disney on Ice. What I don't love is the drama every year trying to figure out if they will allow my camera in. When they used to do the show at the other arena in town, there was never any drama. All camera were welcome. They even started the show with an announcement about how they welcome photography, so long as it's for your personal enjoyment.

Then they built a new arena. One with metal detectors. Then they posted signs saying "no professional cameras" and "no cameras with detachable lenses". So mostly I'd strip my camera down. I'd take the strap off and attach my smallest lens so it looked more like a bridge camera than a DSLR. One year I got turned down at one gate and then tried a second one before getting in. Just silly games.

Last year someone told me you're good as long as your lens is under 3". This year I decided I was tired of the games and called to ask just what the policy really is. I was told I could bring any camera I wanted. I asked if I could bring extra lenses and was told sure, bring them along. I was pretty skeptical so asked her name. She said "Betty". So I went on to ask what department she was in because I was expecting problems. She said not to worry about it, everybody knew her.

What a crock.

So I got down there and not surprisingly, they looked in my bag and said I couldn't bring it in. I argued for a bit then asked for a manager. The manager came and said nope, can't bring it in. I told her about my conversation with Betty. Then she told me Betty is the receptionist. Sigh. What an absurd pile of ****.

Fortunately I had doubted this would all be as easy as Betty said, so I had my tiny nifty fifty lens along as a backup. I had to hoof it back out to the car to put my other 2 lenses and was finally in.

The Disney on Ice photography drama didn't disappoint this year!

We bought our tickets last July (just as soon as the $10 tickets went on sale) so I didn't even remember where we were sitting. I had forgotten we were only 5 rows back, so the nifty fifty was even a little tight at times. Some of the shots across the arena I have cropped down to get the framing I want.

It was a great show and turned out to be a fun evening.

Oh.... and I did notice. Donald had a bigger camera than I did! I want to know which gate HE came in!

Love the Disney on Ice pictures! We saw Princesses on Ice a few years ago but I never got the chance to see it when it came here this time. It looks amazing. Love that the stepsisters and Merida were in it too!

The inconsistency with the camera rules is frustrating. They should pick a policy and stick with it.

Awesome shots. I thin kI am going to try my nifty 50 next time too. last time they didn't even look to see what I had, but be sure as I bring along the big one, they will look.
I think even for the circus I am going to bring it too. They never look when I go there and after looking at my shots today. UGH they are God awful. I mean REALLY bad. I wonder if I had a smudge on my point and shoot because so far everyone I edited it just crud.

Cool pictures! Am I the only one who thinks that stepsister looks like a man though? :rotfl:

Thanks! The stepsisters were just sort of a short random segment at the beginning. Pinocchio did a short thing too. Sort of odd as it was so random, but I really enjoyed the steps a lot. I liked their blinged out dresses too!

And yeah, the whole camera thing really just drives me nuts. Tell me whathe policy is and just go with it. Oh, and if someone calls, give them correct info!

Thanks Jen! I have to think you'd enjoy the event more with your DSLR/nifty fifty combo over a point and shoot. I actually wen tto all that trouble last year to get mine in, and about 5 minutes into the show my battery died! I was SO mad at myself for that! But Katie had my little point and shoot along and man, so I tried that. And man..... it totally sucked!

Cool pictures! Am I the only one who thinks that stepsister looks like a man though? :rotfl:

LOL! Yeah. I really thought so so! They did a really good job uglying those girls up!

I want to see Disney on Ice! One day!!!! Of course, I have no nifty camera, so I'm glad that you do and that you work so hard to get it inside! :goodvibes

Belle's got skills!

Apparently she does more in her spare time than read! ;) But we all saw her ice skating with the Beast in the movie. I just never thought she was this good!

We've gone to Disney on Ice most years since Katie was 3. I think we skipped the Monsters Inc show and the Toy Story show. But that's it. That's a lot of years of evasive camera techniques! LOL, actually not that many. It was only since changing venues that it became a problem.

Is it me or does Pocahontas look a bit like Demi Lovato?

Awesome pictures though. If you go on the right day Animal Kingdom is so much fun.

LOL, I'm happy to say I don't even know what Demi Lovato looks like! :) I've heard the name though. I'll have to ask the young Disney Channel expert we keep on staff here. ;)

Sorry another post but those Disney on Ice pictures are incredible

Thanks so much! It was a great evening and I really enjoyed photographing the show. :goodvibes
