Magic In Paradise: 10/8-10/15 2011. All cruisers check in here. (#2)

I was thinking of shipping a box with FE gifts. I looked on the info for shipping and it says no food or drink of any kind? If that includes candy then I am in trouble.:scared1: Has anyone shipped before and had a problem with that. I just got them all together and don't want to have to go through them all again to take stuff out? Shoooooot.....

I just looked at the site that has information about boxes being shipped to the ship.

  • One box per stateroom, no exceptions.
  • The package must have the guest's full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
  • The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
  • NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned.
  • The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 pounds.
I would not risk sending candy via your box. I do have an idea though. you can always ship something non food related in the box....clothing? And then use the space in your luggage for the candy. Just a thought.

Just sharing pictures from my neck of the woods. This is on the ocean in Greenwich, CT.

We're all OK here. Had flooding in the back of the house that praise God went the other way. We live on a hill above a river and when the river flooded it went out across our poor neighbors home across the way and out past their home onto the road they live on. We are on the other side of the shore higher up and while it got high, did not come into the house. Just some minor leaks and dribbles in the house. Totally repairable.

Hope everyone else fared well!

yeah, I figured I was going to be in trouble when I read that. I will just have to figure out which way I want to go. On one hand it is really expensive to mail a box nowadays but on the other hand if I tried to take another suitcase then that is $50. On the third hand, if it weighs more than 50 lbs then that is another $50. I guess I better pack light. I think that the room the FE gifts take up will be taken by souvenirs, FE gifts received etc.. coming back.:confused3

Wow! My heart hurts for those folks who were in the way of those waves!!! So sorry for them! Thankful you're on a hill, but it still is sad to see! :sad2:

I had heard Laura on another thread, that you Don't want those 'dogs' to hit on your box(es), so don't dare send any candy. However, here's what I thought had I done candy. I had thought about sending my bags with all the stuff but the candy inside and just shipping the bags down. Then WHEN I arrived just place the candy in the bags and seal. However, I didn't wind up doing candy, so I don't have the worry.
That's just an idea. My bags would've been squished for sure, so I'm shipping them, and any candy for the cm's or treats, I'll just place in differing suitcases!
Hope this might help!:thumbsup2

:sad1:Man, man!!! Miss a day, and come back and y'all are partying and celebrating without me!

I knew this month was gonna be wild and furious. Almost let my cruise planning interfere with dd's 12 birthday (this Wed), and she had to let me know what she wants to do...(ugh...cruise?):rotfl: And then dh said "Are we not gonna have a celebration for the inlaws 50th? (ugh...cruise?):rotfl:
So, I've been schooling, planning Birthday parties and Anniversary celebrations..(and shoot, haven't EVEN had time to think of our 27th anniversary on the 22 of Sept-..ugh....cruise?):rotfl: So, been a 'tad' busy for sure!

But glad y'all are SAFE and sound though wet beyond comparision...did think the Magic might could slip up there and pick some of you up!:goodvibes
Now you know what's gonna happen?:confused3 It's gonna FLY by, and I'm not gonna be ready after all these months of planning! ..:rotfl2:

Got home around 8 tonight and talked with our neighbor who collected our papers and mail while we were gone. Said the power was out for about 8 hours on Sat. but otherwise no problems on our street. Street looks good. Still intermittent power outages in the city not sure how many. She said 2 streets over was out till today.

Back to work for me tomorrow. Not sure about Rich yet. His base was essential personnel only today and that area got hit hard from what we understand. We'll find out.

Hope everyone has a great night.

So glad that all was fine when you got home!!! I guess Onslow took the trip well? And HATE you have to go back to work tomorrow...but maybe it won't be too bad? Hope your city fared ok...know about the power, but thankful it wasn't as bad as they were forecasting!

Now on to this cruise in 39 days!!!

I too am so glad to hear everyone on the east coast is doing well! :thumbsup2

All I have to say now is . . . . . Another Monday Down!! Only 5 more to go!!

I cant believe how fast the time is going.....though not fast enough in many ways!! I have only had one day off in three weeks to work on my FE gifts and I am still not even finished! :rotfl:

On a side note I hope everyone is ok and well after this storm. We lucked out for the most part here in western MA. Only a few spots of terrible flooding and we never lost power.

BTW Maureen did you get my paypal payment and message??

Not that I drink that much, but a small amount in my carry-on can make vacation a little more vacation-y.
Would you consider an email from guest relations to be "official".

Looks like the change is true folks

Dear Rebecca,

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

Beginning September 19, 2011, a change is being implemented regarding
the amount and types of alcohol that can be brought onboard on
embarkation day.

On embarkation day, Guests 21 years of age and older may bring on board
one unopened bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne or six bottles/cans (12
oz.) of beer per person. The drinks must be hand-carried in a day bag
and/or carry-on luggage. Carry-on luggage dimensions cannot exceed 22"
wide, 14" high and 9" deep.

Guests can still take a bottle of wine or champagne to the restaurant
for dinner. If you request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of
champagne or wine that has been brought onboard a corking fee will be
charged per bottle.

If you open the bottle in the stateroom and bring it into the dining
room, you will still be charged a corking fee.

Please be aware, Guests are unable to consume alcohol that has been
brought onboard in any lounge or public area.

In addition, Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile
items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, any
alcohol will be discarded with no remuneration offered. Beverage
containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in
checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on
luggage.

All beer/wine/champagne, over the allowable 1-bottle per Guest limit in
carry-on luggage will also be confiscated and discarded without
compensation.

Guests may bring aboard unopened/sealed alcoholic/non-alcoholic
beverages from the ports visited during the itinerary in accordance with
the stated U.S. Customs allowances.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Thought I would share this with y'all, I am very disappointed with this!:sad2::sad2:
