Magic Goes Texan! Eight Crazy Nights (3/1/2013 Bahamas)

It looks like that we'll be joining ya'll on this cruise. We weren't going to go on a cruise this year, but the KSF and sailing out of Galveston cinched it! We personally have six kids (all but one going free) and it's only a 2.5 - 3 hour drive for us to the port from our house, so it was a no brainer once we could get a group together (to spread out our kids for KSF :thumbsup2). Here's our cast:

Me - Sonny, DW - Jennifer, DD13, DD11, DS9, DS7, DS5, DS3

Additionally we have:
Doug - My FIL
Shelly, Shelby, their DD3 and Gena (Shelly's mother)- Family Friends

We're in four different rooms on the 7th deck, but they are all in one area (side by side and across the hall). So if you're ever walking thru the seventh deck hallway and run across four rooms with tricked out doors, their ours :).

As far as plans, we're booked on the 6:30 AM to EPCOT - going to hit the revamped Test Track, maybe Spaceship Earth & a couple of other rides, then head to Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day. We don't really have any other plans made, we're just going to take it easy and enjoy time with the kids.

I was looking at Dinner reservations for our WDW day - there are TONS of restaurants available (even for a party of 13)! Of course, the one we're really interested in is Be Our Guest, but it's booked solid. Anyone here happen to snag one?

Looking forward to following this thread! Also, if a FE two list gets started we'd be interested in participating.

Hi, and WELCOME! We are also on Deck 7, so we'll be keeping an eye out for the "tricked out" doors. :-)

Funny about dining reservations...I had a horrible time booking anything. :( I had originally decided that we'd just play it by ear as far as dining on park day. But I woke up in a cold sweat at 3am today, thinking how cranky and miserable my family will be if they don't have one sit-down meal during the long park day. We are starting at Hollywood Studios, then hopping to MK. I spent an hour on the phone with a reservation agent today, and it was slim pickings. I managed to get a 1:40 at Hollywood Brown Derby and a 5:40 at Liberty Tree Tavern (it's an either/or, we won't do both) but they were kind of last-ditch choices. Maybe I should have just looked online!

Definitely check online, as I'm seeing lots of availability.

I know this has probably already been asked but cant find it. What do most of the men and little boys wear to formal night?

Two questions:
1) Any chance kids will be so zonked out after Castaway Cay that they will go to bed early and I can book an earlier trip to WDW? Right now, I have us on the last shuttle leaving because my goal is them seeing the parade and fireworks at the end of the night. Can anyone share their experiences with CC and bedtimes that night for younger kids (mine are 8 and 5)? I know every kid is different, but I though it might help to hear what others have experienced!

2) Do kids need to have a passport or will an official birth certificate do? From what I'm reading, it looks like an official birth certificate will do but I don't want to get there and be wrong about that. My daughters passport expires 10 days before the cruise - of course! Should I expedite a new one or is it no big deal?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi I told my DD we are going early on the shuttle and she will have a good hour to hour and a half to sleep on the bus if she needs to. As for tiring out depends on what they do. It is not that long of a day really. If the weather is nice they will swim a lot and tthat will tire them out.

I would get her a passport because if for some reason you needed medical attn and the only place was the Bahamas you would need it. BUT I think you have to have one now anyway since 911. That I am not sure of. I had to xpedite my DD's last year last as it expired 2 days before cruise.

Thanks traceyj123! I don't think they will sleep on the bus - just knowing them. But they totally could surprise me - and that would be awesome. :cool1: I will have to give this some thought and then probably flip a coin?? :)

Well, I would like to say I have been a part of this group since Sept...however, I just realized that I have been on the wrong ship since SEPT!! I run a toy store and it has been a very crazy time for us! Today, I started thinking about our upcoming cruise and figured out I was looking at the wrong thread!!! We really WILL BE on the MAGIC March 1-9! If you could add us to the FE it would be AWESOME!

Sherrie 42
Andy 42
Tori 14
Vivian 14

We are on the 7th deck!
Thanks

Hi Sherrie! So sorry to hear about the confusion, but I am glad to see you've found the correct thread! As for FE, I am so sorry but we have already capped the Group 1 list. There were several cruisers who were already doing shopping and personalization, and with the size of the group we decided it was time.
There is another new cruiser named Sonny (sdaniel) who is part of a large group on this sailing and is interested in starting up a Group 2 FE exchange. I don't think you guys will end up being the only ones. I will be happy to give you some direction on how to organize it if you need help, and we will also distribute the Group 2 list as "optional" for Group 1 participants...I'm sure you'll end up with an extra surprise or two! (For instance, I can add you to my list because I am still shopping.)
;-)

My friend (41) and I (36) just booked this cruise yesterday. We are celebrating our birthdays and usually go on a short vacation together, but a cruise out of Galveston (which is a short trip from OK) was perfect for us. What made it even better - it's Disney! I have been on several Disney cruises, but all out of Florida and I've never been on the Magic. This will be my friend's first time cruising with Disney. We are looking forward to being on here with you all! By the way - I will be joining the FB page later today.

Hi, and WELCOME!

Just finished making my FE family gifts- super excited to share them, just a little proud of how they turned out, and crossing that one off my to-do list (which just seems to keep growing)!

Good for you! I can't wait to see how they turned out. Hey, I just noticed that you are from NM. Me, too! I haven't lived there in a long time, but I was born and all my grandparents still live in Ruidoso. Where in NM are you?

Hey everyone! This will be our first disney cruise and we can't wait! My husband and I will be sailing with our 9 year old daughter, 8 year old son, and 4 year old daughter. We are cooking up a creative way to reveal the cruise to them on valentines day. Would love to hear how you told your kiddos!

Only people on this forum could appreciate my earlier post! (My husband thinks I'm nuts!!). We live in Portales. We love Ruidoso! We try to get there several times a year, it's gorgeous!
