Magic: embarkation day lunch buffet

In addition to Cabanas, is one of the MDRs open with a buffet lunch on embarkation day? Which one? I may be using a walker and would appreciate drink service and being escorted to a table in a MDR setting.

Usually Carioca's will also serve a buffet (not as large a selection, but good) and you'll order drinks from a server.

We prefer the buffet. We like sitting outside and watching the view.

We have done Parrot Cay (what Carioca's used to be) a couple of times. It's nice, but it's inside.

I prefer Cariocas as you get your drink served to the table rather than having to get it yourself (I know that sounds lazy but its more for the fact I tend to end up dropping it especially if its busy and I'm rushing). People however chose them for different reasons and Carioca's can be fairly caotic on some days just depends how many people want to eat there. I've had a few times when I've had to wait to be seated as there were just too many people but I still wait

OP, if you would prefer to be served your drinks and escorted to a table, Carioca's will be the sensible option for you. Having said that, upstairs at Cabana's, there will be people on hand to carry your tray/drink for you if required.

No more parrot cay on the magic. Only wonder has parrot cay now and will probably be replaced next dry dock

OK, but Carioca's now does what Parrot Cay is currently doing - embarkation lunch, same procedures.

It's a regular lunch buffet. Here's a couple of pictures:

I would go to Carioca's since it's the only day you can eat lunch there. I like to try all options during each cruise. Try breakfast lunch and dinner at different restaurants. You can have Cabana for lunch any other days on your trip. So why not try Carioca's for the embarkation day?

Cariocas is not my favorite but their lunch buffet was delicious!

On our embarkation, Cariocas had lamb chops, salmon, chicken, etc. It was not busy. Actually, the atmosphere was a relaxing and I didn't feel rushed. We enjoyed our lunch there.

Lumiere also opens for table service breakfast and lunch. I always try to have one breakfast and one lunch at full service dining room each cruise, don't limit yourself to the buffet up stairs.

Not sure if its just longer cruises but Lumiere's also does a "Brunch" as well although I missed it both times on my last cruise (this is why you should read the navigator properly!)

If you have younger children with you, I found that Cariocas had less options for them than Cabanas. I love the sit-down service in Cariocas, but for now will continue to go to Cabanas for the additional choices. Just another thing to think about.
