Stayed on the Deck 2 on the Magic before and loved it so booked the same category (it was GTY) for our upcoming Norway/Iceland cruise.

Got assigned room 2002. That's REALLY far forward. And I'm starting to worry about rough seas. For a short trip, I don't think I'd care, but 12 days if the seas are rough could be a LONG 12 days (I don't get super seasick, but I do notice the movement of the ship).

Since I booked GTY, and am past my PIF date, what are my options?

There are Deck 2 midship rooms available for about $150 more than what I already paid.

Can I upgrade at this point? Would you?

Thanks!

I have booked room 2504, (the room next door but across the hall), for our cruise next year. Those rooms are suppose to be a little longer than other rooms so it will give us a bit more space. I can't speak to the motion on deck 2, but I have been forward on deck 5 and did not find the motion bad. If you are really concerned though I would upgrade and save yourself the worry.

For $150 I would def upgrade. That will take the worry out of it for you. Like you say it is a longer cruise and mid ship is a nice location.

Yes, you can upgrade. If there's a room available. And you're only going to pay what the room cost on the day you made the original booking, not today's cost.

I'm thinking about switching to this cabin on the WBTA in 2018...was worried about the motion. Not for me, but my sailing party.

We stayed in 2500 On the westbound transatlantic a couple of years ago & had no problems with motion at all.
The one thing I will mention is you can feel the rumbles from the anchor being dropped on port days.
The rooms are generally really quiet through the day though. The stage door for the theatre is next to these rooms so you can hear rehearsals in the hallway.

I'm in 2504 for Presidents' Week next year on the Wonder and cannot wait. I love the motion though.

Personally if motion bothered me I would not even cruise - but for those who choose to cruise even if they get motion sickness, supposedly Midship is better.

The far forward cabins do have more room due the curvature of the ship. We really enjoy this area :). I was just on the Dream, deck 7, more aft but towards midship and felt just as motion up there even though we had high seas and winds. I'd choose a location you are happy with and I tend to agree with others, motion is motion and it's likely to be felt anywhere on the ship.

Thanks for the info. I did end up moving back to midship (though as far forward as they had available). The thing that scared me away was the review that said they often couldn't see out of the window because of spray from the bow of the ship! Plus it was much less than I anticipated!
