Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Well, the snow has hit us here in Iowa. It started about 11:30 and has been snowing pretty heavy ever since. I took Alyssa to her 2pm performance and the roads were pretty slick and snow covered so I don't know if they will cancel tonight's show or not. Of course there are some crazy people out on the roads so I'm all for staying in tonight and getting some packing done.

OK-- The wind is blustering (in fact snow isn't falling, it is swirling), we have had 6 more inches of snow since my morning report, DH has shoveled 3 times already today, and an avalanche of snow fell off of our roof shaking the house and scaring us half to death (it sounded like the roof was caving in). So glad this storm is here now, instead of next Thursday when we leave. Looks pretty boring here weather-wise by next week.

As we drove 2 hours each direction to a family Christmas function today all the newscasts talked about was the weather coming in from Iowa, which lead us to think of you LeiLani, knowing from your location lists Iowa. Well now not only can we thank you, LeiLani for the weather coming in tomorrow morning, I guess Angie gets some credit too.

Thanks ladies, but we would really rather take some record warmth:rotfl:

Not sure what we will get weather wise, they say it will be right over us and depending on winds if it goes south snow will be heavy, if it goes slightly north then rains will prevail.

I am hoping for rain as DD has a hockey game an hour away tomorrow and I would prefer rain over snow covered roads.

Think warm thoughts, one week and some of you will be finishing dinner while some of us will be finishing the show waiting for dinner. Can't wait:)

It sounds like bad weather everywhere! We have around 2 inches of rain today. The Pac NW is rainy during the winter but this is a lot even for us!

The idea of a flashmob dance made me laugh so bleeding hard! Cam was so funny in that episode!

We leave Weds afternoon to stay at a hotel by the airport. It is cheaper to stay at the airport and leave our car there instead of paying for shuttle OR parking at the airport.

Of course, around 2 oclock today my husband asks "So, do you think I can get away with bringing only one dress shirt?" :scared1::mad::confused3 :eek:Needless to say he has spent the afternoon out in the rain going shopping! LOL

Just a few more days everyone! We looked up the weather for St. Martin. The day we will be there it is going to be 80 :cool1:degrees!!!!!!!!!!

No room for Christmas Crackers - the airline says they can only go in luggage in the original, sealed box, so it's all 12 or none at all

Thought of you today too Sarah, as some family members returned from visiting my great aunts and uncles in Skipton and Yorkshire earlier this fall and were sharing details of their trip. Both of my grandparents came from Yorkshire to Canada.

We also had to pass on Christmas crackers, I found some make your own that are flattened and you fasten the sides together and insert a small gift. I suggested buying something onboard and using these, as crackers are a tradition for us too. Unfortunatly I was vetoed and there will be no crackers unless I can find some in Target, which I highly doubt.:sad1:

I love the cracker crowns! I'm so sorry you can't bring them with you.

Spent the rainy afternoon packing DH. Decided he is a clothes horse!:rotfl2:
Had to borrow another suitcase for him, and the kids did not take notice of us bringing it in & upstairs. They are still clueless, but I am getting impatiant to tell them our plans!:santa:
Sounds like everyone will get hit by this weather~stay safe on the roads!

Next week we will be sailing out of Port Canaveral, on our way to warmer climates!:cool1:

This far out the reports still change (and almost always do) so I know you and your lice-free family will get to the port, safe, sound and ready for fun.
I know it.

Caryn

We are definitely lice free lol---and every other form of bacteria free at this point.

Our helicopter made it out of Taji just before bad weather set in. Made it to Baghdad (Forward Operating Base Sather/Baghdad International Airport), but no flights to Kuwait tonight :-(

Now just wasting time until tomorrow afternoon's flight. At least there is a Green Bean Coffee here....white chocolate mocha=YUM!!

All in all, it will take me about 3 days to get back to the states, but it will be soooooo worth it when I'm sitting on the deck of the ship with a DOTD in my newly manicured hand!!

BTW.....GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!!!

Safe Travels!!! GO ARMY!!!

Since this is our first Disney cruise I have a question......I've noticed some of you mention your hopes for an upgrade at the port....do they give discounted rates on the day of embarkation or is it the same price as upgrading ahead of time?

It depends, sometimes they are available, but usually you have to pay for the upgrade. Just depends.

I'm definitely not jealous of all of the snow y'all keep mentioning. It's only 75 down here in Houston!

We're an interesting bunch, no little ones to manage! My mom, dad, brother (26), and I (32) will be on board. My little ones (two four-legged hairy creatures) have to stay at a doggie hotel for 12 nights, so sad.
My ornament is wrapped and I can't wait to get on board.
Safe travels to all! :flower3:

Oh, you can hang out with the "younger" set that St. Lucie Lady is compiling! Our son, Mike, has his last exam on Wed, but I guess he hasn't finished a paper he is supposed to turn in by Friday. Talked to him today, and we said, PACK this weekend, and you can drive home on Friday, just so you're ready to go to the port on Saturday Morning! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

oh, good, a list is good. I can share it with Mike. He won't even be getting home until Friday, probably. I am not sure when his last exam is. Also, he's behind on a paper he's writing. So, he'll just throw his clothes and computer into his car along with his cat and start driving to Orlando from Durham, NC. It will be interesting to try to get him up for an early trip to the port, but he can sleep in the van!:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Added to the list ;) That trip from Durham is a bear! Did that trip last year from So Florida and my eyes were hanging out of my head by the time I got there. It took 12 hours straight.:sad2:

My DW says we are making progress on packing but all I see are bigger piles of stuff and more trips back to the stores. I'm hoping tomorrow we will actually try putting some of the piles in suitcases.

Oldest DS got home from college last night. Spent most of the day doing laundry so he could start figuring out what to pack. Seems to be short on dress shirts (so far we have found one) so we will have to ship him off to the mall tomorrow.

My oldest DD won't be getting home until Friday afternoon after her practical exams. Her plans are to throw some things in a suitcase and then fill in the missing items by shopping in the different ports. I'm hoping that means cheap tourist t-shirts but I doubt it!!

So it looks like the night owl party set is:
HFC1969 Amy and Mike
disneydash Kids daughter 21 Son 19
PennyMike ...Mike and Penny ;)

ColKath2005 32
CruisinNick 25
mdargen Sean and Michelle
cquick's son Mike 31

Thank you, Lisa. I appreciate your service to our country. Welcome Home!

I finished our magnets, and I almost finished packing today. I feel so organized! Tomorrow, I will weigh our suitcases. My fingers are crossed that they are all under 50 pounds.

To all our Disers, who are already on vacation: I hope you posted some pictures especially Harry Potter's new park.

I love the pictures of the Marines (Got to love a man in uniform) and the Caribbean Blizzard (What a winter wonderland).

Lori and Rick, I hope you have a wonderful cruise on the Wonder. I cannot wait to welcome her to SoCal.

What is the Night Owl Party Set?

Talk to you soon and take care.

Okay, all mostly packed now - that took all of 9 hours. :scared1:

No room for Christmas Crackers - the airline says they can only go in luggage in the original, sealed box, so it's all 12 or none at all

Just need to print out some documents and finish my hand luggage, then all done...probably...

We are bringing Christmas Crackers ourselves.....we could bring some for you! Just let me know. DH rolls his eyes every time I make him put on the crown and tell his joke!

Now I want to bring crackers! I may have to head over to Pier One tomorrow to pick some up.
