Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

I won't forget about you Vicki! Do you know what time your excursion gets over with that day? I think ours gets done about 11:15am. We have only been to St Maarten once so I don't know that much about the island. We did a DCL excursion and then walked around the shopping area near the port so I didn't see much of the island. How far is the walk along the beach?
The Mountaintop Downhill Hike is supposed to run from 8am to noon. If we grab a quick shower afterward, I had hoped to be back out on the road by 1 or so. We're in port til 6:30, so hopefully time won't be an issue.

It was a laminated card that hooks on to the lanyard. It has your real name and disboard name. We only got the screen shot of what it would look like. We never got the real thing so I'm not sure if the screen shot is the exact size. We saw a few people on the Med cruise who had ones from previous cruises and they were fairly big, like the size of a small index card (3 X 5) so you could recognize each other from pretty far away. :cool1: I believe there was one person who handled it and it was going to be about $1 each. My daughter was very ill by that time so I lost track. I thought it was a really cool idea though.

I can try to do these for everyone... if someone can send me a clean copy of the clip art on page one that I can size and I can get everyone's "real names" versus DIS names.... no $1.00 required, LOL

:)

Jealous! So wanted to do that excursion, but it is booked up!!!!!

What do you mean by "older kids"?:goodvibes If you mean teenagers, then nothing has been finalized yet. DD and I have been discussing this and as soon as we figure out a place and time we will post it here and on the teen thread. Right now, we are thinking about deck 10 above the Goofy Pool on the terminal side of the ship(I think this is starboard but not sure), around 2 or 3pm. Just a chance for them to meet up before everything gets going. Just an FYI this is usually where my crew hangs out for the sail away party if anyone wants to stop by.

If you are talking a different age group then maybe someone else can pipe in with the info.

I guess I should have included my kids ages-- I have DD11, DS12, DS15, DD17. ;)

Since we are surprising our kids...they won't get the opportunity to "meet" other kids before we board. It would be great to have them meet some other kids before they head off to their groups.:thumbsup2 Especially my oldest DD... Our boys are like to 'peas in a pod'... DD has a tendency to be left out.

I love the idea of a teen meet before all the activities begin. :)

Is there anything in the works for the "ocean quest" kids, 11 to 13?

LeiLani,

Small world indeed. Our football team is a mess this year but hopefully Coach Gill will get it in shape in time for your neighbor to have a decent college football career. Luckily he's a freshman. Northern Iowa? Not a fan after knocking us off in the NCAA last year. :scared1: But they showed some serious heart and hard work.

I'm now on the edge of my chair always waiting for basketball season, which is just around the corner. In fact there is a noon tipoff vs. USC on 12/18 that I'm trying to figure out if I will be able to see. And where on the ship...

It drives my family crazy. :rotfl:

I asked DH to send you the file. He's been MIA handling the kids by himself while I've been in DC for two weeks.

We are:

3PrincessMommy - Joann

Thanks for volunteering to do this! Sounds great!!!!

So what is the general concensus on when we will get our room assignments? 45 days out?

The website is still selling cat 12 gty's. Someone has got to get an upgrade!

OK, opinions, please --

Trying to figure out the logistics for the hanging of three stockings Christmas Eve. We are in a Nav Cat 7. We would like to hang them in the part of the cabin near the bed (away from the sitting area where DD6 will be sleeping). Are there knobs on the closets that will allow for hanging? :confused3 Any suggestions where were could put them? I have 2 Command hooks, but was hoping to use them in the bathroom.

Thanks!

Caryn

Sounds pretty good to me. I was thinking about skipping the shower since we will be on the beach. Maybe just freshen up a little. I know the plan is to try and share a taxi (my group alone is 7 people so we might need one by ourselves anyway) but if my group decides to head out early I'll let you guys know.

That's awesome about the MV on the Fantasy. We are going on the Dream in Aug just to get a look at the new ships. We wanted to do the MV on the Dream but it was too close to the Christmas cruise and there was no way we were cancelling that.

This is awesome, thanks for the offer. Let us know if we can pay you for them.

Here are our names:

No problem! I could have looked at the roll call list too, but I forgot. So I think we will definitely do a teen meet and will let everyone know when we get the plans finalized.

I'm a latecomer to this cruise/thread so sorry if this has already been discussed, but Cruise Critic today has an article on St. Thomas. There was a shooting there this summer where a 14 yr old girl was killed, caught in crossfire, and how the conditions are now. I hadn't heard about this and so then read some of the comments from posters. I know so little about the areas we are traveling to and so maybe I should do a little more homework. Is anyone else doing St. John instead because of this or just because they like the area better?

Frankly, my last two cruises I only got off at Costa Maya. Cared nothing about Nassau or Cozumel and had a two and three year old those years and so enjoyed the quiet ship. I hate not to see places I'll never see (most likely) again but wonder if this would be the day to enjoy a quiet ship instead of an excursion?

That's right, I forgot about that.;) That was a huge deal around here and UNI even won the ESPY award for the biggest upset of the year.:cheer2: UNI is a mid-level school(FCS for football) so it's always nice when we are in the national spotlight and do well. I'm not a big KU fan ever since they beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl in 2008. DD was a freshman at VT that year and we were at the game, it was a bummer.
