Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

How many pins per person do you bring to trade?

I never thought about using pins for FE gifts -- how clever and easy for the craft challenged, like me. This makes me think maybe I CAN participate in the FE. :thumbsup2

I am not a crafty person either...smile...I was just planning on putting together one lanyard per room with four pins...that way if there are four to a room everyone gets a pin and I don't have to think too much about it. I am also planning on putting a card with the lanyard that tells about pin trading - for those who are not familiar. I will try to get my F/E out early in the trip for those who are first time cruisers and don't have a Castaway Club lanyard - although I don't think we have many - and so that if you don't like the pin you get you can trade before you go home! I thought it would be fun for our group to get into the trading!

Do any off you all do pin trading? We never have, but DD9 had a blast with it at Disneyland this summer so I thought we might try it on the cruise.

I never did pin trading before, but bought a BUNCH of pins last year on our cruise, so much that I filled two lanyards and about a page and a half of a lil suitcase I got on the ship. I'll bring it with me and let her see it.

Being a first time Disney Cruiser can feel so overwhelming....There are so many things I never thought of. LOL I just called DCL to ask about our dining rotation and the CM seemed so confused...She keep telling me there were two dining times. I was trying to explain I meant the dining rooms on certain days...i.e..Parrot Cay for Pirate night....after she put me on hold for 15 minutes she came back and said "ok you have the LAP rotation..." but you know if there's bad weather they'll change pirate night and there's a chance you won't be in Parrot Cay for Pirate night...I was so confused....Anyhow..I'm going to hope for good weather...I can't wait until we have a few Disney Cruises under our belts.....Then I'll really know what I'm talking about. Many thanks to all you experienced cruisers out there!!:santa:

Have never traded pins (only have one Disney cruise under our belt):confused3 What kind of pins do you trade and where do you get them? Still working on my FEs, slowly, they are taking almost 10 hours each to complete. Thought I was being smart to try to do something handmade:eek: Think I will have to come up with something to substitute if I don't get finished and offer to mail the finished ones to people who don't get them on the ship:idea:. My mother (age 97) is visiting for 6 weeks:goodvibes but her eyes won't let her help me. Still, it is very nice to have her here. Can't believe only 8 weeks:woohoo:

Liz Arjay just confirmed that we have the L-A-P dining rotation, late seating. Anyone else?

Excellent! Four nights at Lumiere's and three nights each at the other two restaurants (with Palo dinner for two on 12/22). Lumiere's on embarkation day, Christmas Eve and Liz's birthday (12/27). Parrot Cay for Pirate Night is appropriate. Formal nights in Animator's is nice. That's the ideal rotation for the itinerary if you ask me! (I wasn't concerned about formal nights since we like to dress up and would probably go semi-formal at Lumiere's regardless.)

L- Sat, Dec 18: Port Canaveral ....... (All aboard @ 4:00 p.m.)- Let the Magic Begin
A- Sun, Dec 19: At Sea ....................................... - Formal Night (Twice Charmed)
P- Mon, Dec 20: At Sea
L- Tue, Dec 21: St. Maarten .......... (7:45 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.)
A (Palo) - Wed, Dec 22: Guadeloupe ........... (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
P- Thu, Dec 23: Barbados ............. (7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) - Pirate Night
L- Fri, Dec 24: Martinique ........... (7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
A- Sat, Dec 25: At Sea - Christmas Day ..................... - Formal Night
P- Sun, Dec 26: St. Thomas/St. John .. (7:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.)
L- Mon, Dec 27: At Sea ....................................... - Semi-formal Night (Disney Dreams)
A- Tue, Dec 28: Castaway Cay ......... (9:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) - Till We Meet Again: A Final Farewell
Wed, Dec 29: Port Canaveral ....... (Disembarkation)

How did you get your dining rotation? Did you call DCL? Or do you have a TA?
Thanks for the information.

It is wonderful reading everybody's plans. Once I get organized, I will post our plans.

LeLani, Momsuprise, BBQMOMMY, STLUCIELADY, and other walkers: I will see you on deck 4! I usually walk an hour so I may just continue with the 8 o'clock group:rotfl2:

Penny, thanks for the packing tips. I am probably going to pack clothes that are suitable for layering.

MY DD thinks its cool that she knows some people, but she too is struggling with a huge homework load this year, and time online is limited during the week. She said that many teens are participating in the Wild Side on CC.

Thanks for sharing your photos, and Melissa, you are doing a fabulous job organizing the FE list.

Leilani, I was thinking that the pool might a bit chilly too. We arrive at 6 PM so our meet will have to be in the evening. I was thinking about the lobby too since they serve drinks and appetizers.

DWTS:thumbsup2 Go Team Jennifer and Derek!

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING TWO MONTHS FROM TODAY? I will be sipping on the Drink of the Day on the DISNEY MAGIC:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Things that I am looking forward to: Halloween Time at Disneyland, Justin Bieber Concert, Fright Night at Universal Studios, my spa day at Glenn Ivy, 4 day weekend over Veteran's Day, and Thanksgiving week in VEGAS!

Lisa - Great minds think a like!:thumbsup2 So should we set the Hyatt DIS meet for 7-9pm in the lobby lounge area? Is this time okay or should we do a different time. I'll bring my crew down to have drinks and people can stop by anytime they like.

Like I said, the last time I used this lounge area at the Hyatt was in 2007 so if it has changed we can find another area once we are there.

What do you think?

I'm watching DWTS right now!

Aaron(bigAWL) - when you get a chance could you please update the Hyatt DIS meet on the first page with the following information.

DIS meet will be held in the lobby lounge from 7-9pm on the 17th. Stop by and meet some of your DIS friends.

Thanks so much!

I cannot believe that you are watching it NOW! I have two more hours until it starts! This is a crisis!!!!!

I am totally in for the meet. I cannot wait.

It was pretty good tonight. Fun to watch the TV theme dances but I won't give anything away.

I can't wait for the meet or the cruise. I told oldest DD today that we are 2 months out and she couldn't believe it was so close.:woohoo: She is so busy this semester that time is just flying by.

Great! Our kids would love to make friends early! Finding the group can be a challenge. I was thinking about printing off some 'tents' for tables with our group logo on it that we could use at our meets - of course if it is windy that may not work well - I have not seen this done before - usually you just show up in the location and look for people looking for people - it can be a bit challenging...:rotfl:. If anyone else has seen some good ways of spotting the group I would love to hear it! With as large as our group is getting, we may need one of those flags tour guides use...lol.

On our August Med Cruise, we all printed off the logo (like from the start of this thread) and put it into our lanyard holder, so card showed on one side, DIS logo on the other. It helped..... :) We also personalized them with our real names and our DIS user names so people could figure out who was who. :) Seemed to work out well, IMHO :goodvibes

Kids' meet - Port side by the Mickey Pool (not the side with the splash zone area)

The last time we did this, we didn't have any trouble spotting people - but I like the idea of the table markers or the lanyard cards or even t-shirts if you purchased them from cafepress.

Still in DC - looking forward to getting home - been gone too long...

I am going to join the 8 am walking group :) 7 am is just to damn early for me on vacation ! 8 am is pushing it - a morning person, I am not!

Now, if someone can PLEASE help me, LOL. I have been looking at excursions. Everyone one in the family wants to hike to the top of the volcano on Guadeloupe ;) Disney says there is an excursion that does that on their main page but when I look at the excursions available, none of them go there! Please tell me that I am missing something!

Two months from today I will be enjoying the beautiful night sky out on deck! :cheer2:
I can't wait!
Looking forward to the FE as well. This will be a first for me. It sounds so fun.
Time to start thinking about door decorations too. :woohoo:

59 days til vaca

DS 10 (will be 11 second day of cruise) is still looking for pen pals.. I haven't let him join the teen thread... just becuz he isn't a teen. :upsidedow

So ready for this cruise.. Got the new tux back from the cleaners.. Ready to roll. :cool2:

Weather is still good here in STL, but it about to turn wet. Then I will be really ready for the pirate::santa:

My new found love is YOGA... I know there is spinning classes, is there yoga? I thought there was. Still working on that head stand. :rolleyes1

I have heard a rumor that there is a Character Brunch on one of the sea days. Can anyone "in the know" "confirm or deny that"?

P.S. Can anyone tell me what moviepopcorn:: the second set of quotes is from.....lol!:goodvibes

I thought I had seen Yoga listed on recent Navigators that had been posted. I am a yoga novice myself and would like to try a beginner class on ship if there is a beginner class. :hippie:

If it seems that most folks have lanyards, maybe just printing out a 2"x3" copy of the group logo and clipping it to the lanyard should help finding each other on the ship.

Yes, there is a Character Breakfast and it is held in Parrot Cay. If I remember correctly(someone please correct me if I am wrong) it is usually on the first sea day after your first visit to Animator's Palate. Your wait staff will remind you when to show up for your Character Breakfast. With ours being a longer cruise and one of the sea days being Christmas then DCL might change things up a bit but your wait staff will let you know.
