Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

Couldn't ask for a better Sunday afternoon! Watching a little NASCAR, a little football, the Wonder pull out of PC, and talking on the DIS!:happytv::surfweb: Two more weeks and I can watch the Magic pull out of PC!:cool1:

Aaron - in 2004 the weather was great everywhere except CC. We went to St Thomas, St Maarten, Antigua, and St Lucia and we were in the water at every port. The night before we pulled into CC there was a big storm - which actually torn the netting that protects the family beach and brought in cooler weather. It was pretty cool and cloudy that day and you couldn't swim at the family beach anyway. Last year it was freezing in south Florida so I imagine it was pretty cold in the Bahamas too. Hopefully this year it will stay warm and we can enjoy CC.

Caryn - here's a little PD pixiedust: for you and everyone else trying to book excursions and Palo reservations tonight.

Thanks, LeiLani - I'll take a little of that pixie dust. I hope we all get the things we are trying to reserve tonight :thumbsup2

Are you doing the shipwreck/turtle snorkle or the catamaran turtle snorkle in Barbados, LeiLani?

Just had to turn on the heat today. Nice day for watching golf, baseball, and football. I love Fall. Our school is on Fall break here as of last Friday -- two weeks off ... :confused3

Hey Caryn,

We are doing the Turtle Shipwreck & Snorkel.

Two week fall break? Are they in year-round school? Sometimes I really wonder about the school schedules. This year Alyssa gets a full week at Thanksgiving :confused3 but doesn't even get 2 weeks for Christmas. She is going to miss 4 days of school to go on this cruise(same thing happened to us in 2004 when we went on the Christmas Cruise). Our school district is just a little messed up sometimes. We have all of these professional development days during the year but no days built in for snow. Duh! We live in Iowa and get snow(sometimes a lot of it) every year. This past year the last day of school was suppose to be June 4th but we ended up going to school til June 10th because of the snow days. I really don't like for Alyssa to miss so much school but we have had this cruise booked for 2 years now and we are going no matter what.

It got a little cool here this weekend too. Highs were in the upper 50's. It's suppose to get a little warmer this next week. I'm trying to keep the warm weather around as long as possible. I really don't want snow in December again. Makes for a looooooong winter!

I'll be waving at you from the shore. :rotfl2:

This SoCal girl will be waving too! If it is below 70, I am freezing. Maybe, I should get a scuba suit. We have had a very hot autumn. It is crazy.

BBQ Mommy: Heat! We have the AC on and the ceiling fans going.

Where is the Magic getting its "face lift"? Do we know what on the ship is being made over? Any upgrades?

Yup, year round school. We had 11+ 'snow' days last year. TN does not understand snow :confused3

OK. whose watching? I love this show. Ii live vicariously through this show. I always tell my DH he should go on this show..w/o me!! He was in Fl, NY, London, Paris, Toulouse, Dubai and now Abu Dhabi just this last week. I can't go around the corner w/o getting lost!

Hey Lisa - not really sure where she is going. There has been some discussion on the main board and people have heard both Virginia and Freeport. Below is the locator map I pulled up and it looks like she is going to Freeport but she is not moving very fast. She left PC last night around 7pm and the Wonder left today around 5pm and the Wonder is further south than the Magic.

From what everyone has been saying on the main board the majority of the work will just be routine maintenance and changing the drink station on deck 9 to be like the one on the Wonder. From what I understand the major repair will be to the damage she sustained while at CC last Feb.

My sister and I will be in the sea waving back at you all on shore! :wave2: :beach:
70 degrees (21 Celsius) is considered warm here and it didn't get above that for most of our "Summer".

We went on holiday to a forest cabin for my sister's 21st Birthday in November 2008 - the air temperature was 1 degree Celsius (34 F) and we went swimming everyday (heated outdoor pools). And we wondered around outside in just swimming costumes between pools and the Zen Garden in those temps. :goodvibes

Whatever the temps at Castaway Cay and the Caribbean, it will be much warmer than Home. ::yes:: :cold:

Sarah - I totally agree and I'll be right there with ya! No matter what the temperature it will definitely be warmer than Iowa in December!:thumbsup2 We will wave to all those on shore!:wave2:

Too funny! Here in Iowa we do understand snow and conditions have to be pretty bad for them to call a snow day. It has to be un-drivable(don't know if thats a word) - icy, too much snow(like 6-10 inches), or blizzard conditions. Last couple of years has been pretty rough here. Of course I always love those days where they predict a really bad storm so school is called off and then we get nothing.

I'm watching! I love this show and I would love to go on it, but then I keep think that I might look like the two guys from last week and I changed my mind. Your DH sounds like he does a lot of traveling. I've been to most of those places but not all in the same week!

Hi Sarah -- working on my list now for 2.25 hrs out - it's going to be a free-for-all :rotfl:. Got husband an e-reader for his birthday and he is so happy with it. I think he thanked me 10 times. It's something he wouldn't get for himself. He has been reading a lot of the 'freebies' out there: Treasure Island, King Solomon's Mines, etc and having a ball. :-)

Caryn

I love my e-reader too! I will load it up before the cruise, but with three children, there's never enough time for me to read everything that I would like! I can always dream, and at least I'll be prepared! :thumbsup2

Good luck to all of you waiting to make your ressies tonight! I hope it all goes well. :wizard:

I love my e-reader too! I got mine for Mother's Day and it has been great. When I traveled this summer it was so nice just having the one thing to carry and not trying to pack several books. I plan on loading mine up for the cruise too!
