Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Me again....another question. I'm thinking a bit about switching from a Cat 6 to a Cat 5 simply because my cat 6 is a connecting room and I'm worried about noise. There are only 3 rooms left in Cat 6 and they are all connecting but there are several Cat 5s and none of them connect and there are some midship, starboard which is my preference.

But I'm paranoid enough to wonder if there is a noise issue on 7 or something. Anybody in the know? Apparently, I'm too lazy to research if its under the theatre or something :)

And is there any way to find out which staterooms (in 5 or 6) have the solid white wall verandah? Not sure how to feel about those, either (never had one)

On our cruise last Christmas, we upgraded to a cat 6 which happened to be a connecting room. We could hear the people next door, but really only a muffled noise, nothing that distracted us or bothered us in the least. I guess since we upgraded from a cat 12 to the cat 6 I was thrilled just to be there! However, I can understand if you'd prefer not to have a connecting cabin...just wanted to let you know, though, that it wasn't anything that affected our overall experience.

It is about time that SoCal gets to enjoy a Wonder of the World. Welcome home Wonder. It will be great to see her soon in port at San Pedro.

Great billboard and great cross country move!!! :woohoo:

Just saw RED - so glad Bruce Willis is back making the movies he should be making. It was a great story with witty lines and perfect casting. There is only one Malkovich. Next movie for me -- Harry Potter!!! :wizard:

Hey - with that being said do you think your family you are visiting would know of a Charity on the island that perhaps we could all bring a toy for the children for Christmas? With all the money spent on the cruise and fe gifts I thought maybe we could give back a little too... A few weeks ago I spent all night looking online for an orphange on one of the islands we were visiting but could not find one. Would anyone else be interested in this?:littleangel:

I love this idea!!!!! Count me if we can find a suitable charity!

My vote would be to make them the size to fit INTO the lanyard card holder; Just my preference :rolleyes1

I hear ya, but do you think that would be enough to make them noticeable enough? We did these on a few past crusies and we made the name tags a bit bigger so that us DISers would stand out from the crowd!! (as if we needed help )

Open for all suggestions!!

Ok, someone remind me to tell them the story about why this billboard makes me absolutely twitch.... Yes, there is a long (and sad) story, here... and it is more appropriate over an umbrella drink, maybe several!!!!

I saw this subject on another board, and I was wondering if anyone had heard of this.

Tea with Alice. This is a wonderful tea party for the little ones that features Alice in Wonderland along with some of her friends.

Apparently it's not available on all ships, any chance it is on the Magic?

It's definitely on the Magic. When you get on board, just go to Guest Services and request a ticket. There will be a couple times available. If you sign up early, I've never had trouble getting a spot. But if you wait, it can get filled.

It's cute, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if we missed it. Of course, we've been twice now. They choose a couple kids to come up and play parts of invited guests at the party. That would be really cute to get some pictures of, but I doubt my girls would ever be brave enough to do it.

And the cookies are yummy!!! :thumbsup2

OOPS!!!

Accidently posted as DH - while he's been to Tea with Alice, I don't think he liked the cookies as much as I did...:stitch2:

I also tend to use a lot more smilies than he does. :confused3

Thank you for all your birthday wishes. I had a lovely day and enjoyed my meal.

My favourite place on the boat is anyway near the Quiet Cove Cafe with a coffee in hand). My mum's is near the pool sunning herself and only going in when she needs to cool down.:cloud9:

My son Billy is really enjoying the teen thread and looking forward to meeting everyone.

I have been working 2 jobs and finally after this week I can finish my 2nd one and get back to normal. (or as normal as its gets).

We are in too. That is a great idea. It is important to give back especially during the holiday season. What island? Are you looking for volunteers to go to the orphanage to deliver the presents with you? Where is the orphanage in relationship to the port?

Our last two cruises (there were this year) on DCL they started letting people on at 11:45 and the other one was 12 Noon on the nose. I wouldn't count on earlier than that. We're on the Magic over Thanksgiving too so I can report back when we get home.

While we wait in the terminal, I will be looking for other DISboarders to meet with and pass the time. We will have our logos on our lanyards. Look for us and say "hi" if we walk by!

We also like to be there early. We are staying at the Radisson the night before and have the 10am shuttle booked. I think our excitement just grows while we wait. We'll make sure to have our logos on too!!!! :thumbsup2

I have been dreading trying to catch up on this thread. I was off for a month with busy work schedule, but am trying to keep up now...:thumbsup2 It took me a full day to actually read through all of the great posts since the end of September. This group is awesome!

A few questions that are still out there and unanswered...

Anyone know if Brent is going to be cruise directing?

For FE gifts, I am still interested to know if anyone would be offended by Christmas themed gifts. If there are DISers with other religious faiths, I want to make sure to respect that.

I would be very interested in a charity contribution in Barbados! I wonder if there is some problem with customs? Please let me know how we can help if that happens.

We haven't been on a cruise for a few years, but as my memory serves the Pirate party is themed to be either pirate clothing or caribbean clothing. We have done both in the past and the pictures are awesome (I may try to upload pics from those later). I think this year we are going to go with a "Christmasy Caribbean" look.

Today I am headed out to get fabric for the FE. I would really like to try and be crafty with this, but that is extremely hard for me. :headache:

I am trying to re-motivate my DS12 to connect on email with the couple of kids that he has reached out to on the disboards. It looks like there are 20 boys age 11-12 on the boards here. Please PM me if you would like your 11-13 year old son to meet mine on facebook or email. He will spend a lot of time in OceanQuest and on Deck 10, but he is also psyched to be "free" to roam with friends on this trip. My DS9 is very social and loves to hang out with kids. He will spend most of his time in the lab or pool. We will definitely plan to be at the kids meet at 3pm.

Wow- This trip is really getting close! I can't wait :santa:

I can't remember---do the bathrooms have those little attached hair dryers or do I need to pack one?

:thumbsup2 we'll be there, too, Liz :)

Caryn

Us too! Probably wearing our CafePress T-Shirts. :thumbsup2

Don't think I'm going to get myself organized this year to do matching outfits for the girls, so no predicting what they'll be in - but hard to miss us with three girls running around. Last cruise, the eldest gave the youngest a ride around the terminal on her carry-on suitcase. They were having so much fun that I didn't have the heart to stop them, and they didn't seem to be bothering anyone...Good thing too - we were selected as the First family to board because the CMs thought it was so cute!

I can't remember---do the bathrooms have those little attached hair dryers or do I need to pack one?

Yes, but if you need any power at all - you might consider bringing your own.

Yes, and Yes....

There ARE wall mounted hair dryers in the bathrooms, but I always bring mine (which has to be plugged in at the desk, not in the bathroom due to wattage) because the ones in the bathroom get REALLY hot to hold onto.

If you have short hair, they work fine, but if you have a lot of hair to dry, you'll probably need to use a washcloth or hand towel as a "hotpad" so you don't burn your hand. At least that has been my experience every time.
