Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Wow! Just catching up on the board posts and I have to say that many of you are Disney Cruise professionals! I'm impressed!

Thank many of you for the dining rotation heads up! I don't mind if we get LAP or PLA but PLA would put us on both formal nights in Parrot Cay :headache: Not my favorite restaurant.

Thank you!

Welcome!!! What branch of Military? (we are a USMC family). I hope to see lots of dress uniforms on formal night!
:santa:

Active National Guard. I would love if he would wear his dress blues but he said no, he's on vacation

This is a second disney cruise. We went on the May Med cruise this year and can you tell we are hooked!

Can't wait to meet everyone!

I had my knee surgery and now I feel like I can begin to focus on everything else in life. I need to get all of the FE gifts together and then begin the packing. I am going to be pretty busy the next month. I am so excited about this cruise. If you see me board the cruise I will be the woman screaming I am going on the Disney Cruise for Christmas. I think I will get Mickey Christmas Hats for everyone in my group. I better not tell them till we get to the ship otherwise they may try to change my mind. I still need to figure out the boarding shirts. Normally I sew everyone matching shirts. I do not think I have the time to get the shirts sewed.

Hey mickeyteachers - glad to have you back. I sent you a PM a week or so ago for more information for the late dinning group. If you didn't get it let me know and I will send it again. Thanks!

We have Mickey & Minnie Santa hats too. We had them for MVMCP last year and I thought they would be great to bring along on the cruise!

Fast mending, mickeyteachers ----> :wizard:

Welcome, dragonflydreaming!!! :goodvibes

Hooray for an early meetup! :yay:

Watching the news - some strong thunder cells west of us and possible tornados. They don't usually come our way and these will likely remain west of us, but it is scary for this Buffalo Gal who has no fear of snow, but hates wind.

Can you send it again?
My husband never gets as excited as I do about the cruise. He wants to relax and read one of his novels. I love all of the pre-planning and then enjoying the cruise. He always tells me he will get excited when we board the plane. At least he lets me pack all of the clothing. One year I let him pack and he forgot to pack shirts for himself. I told him never again. I keep everything very organizzed. Maybe a little too organized. One year I made out clothing excel charts to make sure that everyone wore the correct outfit each night. I taped it in both of our staterooms on the bathroom door. My older son said I was nuts. But, he wore the correct outfit each night. My husband told him to just wear the outfit to make your mother happy. This year I only have my husband and my 11 year old to worry about.

Welcome Dragonfly Dreaming! This is our third and first at Christmas too. But it has been 5 years since we last cruised so I'm pretty rusty. Fortunately there's tons of great guidance right here.

OK, so I'm feeling completely intimidated abt the FE's...may go back to my original plan and opt out. Must decide this week!

Also getting a little freaked out abt packing, etc. Need to sneak most of DH's summer clothes from our cabin in a few weeks. Thank goodness for big Veras.

Sorry, just venting! And tomorrow's Monday.;)

I agree with Lisa, don't let it intimidate you. Just do something simple and have fun with. This is our first FE and I figured I would just do what I can and have a great time doing it.

Just sent you a PM!

I know, my family thinks I'm crazy too. My DD just rolls her eyes  when I start making lists. I keep looking at magnets and my DD keeps telling me we have enough!

Just wanted to tell y'all I just went to Zazzle.com and designed some tees for us (it's where I custom make my Christmas cards every year). They have a whole Mickey shop if you want to use their designs or you can use some from the design thread on here. (I used a DCL logo from milliepie) Pretty fun--you can also make you a custom pair of shoes, too with a logo. Or even some pirate ones. It's fairly addictive.

Lisa,

I agree, tomorrow nights show should be pretty good and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

My top three picks are: Jennifer and Derek, Kurt and Anna, and Audrina and Tony. I'm like you, I really like Kyle but I don't think he is much of a dancer so I don't see him being around too much longer.

I would love to see Jennifer and Derek dance to "Time of My Life" in the finals too. Would be pretty emotional for Jennifer but would be a great dance.

Right now, I'm trying to watch a little bit of the Vikings and Packers game while also watching Amazing Race.

Not much into football...In fact The only game I watch is the Super Bowl:-)
Right Now, I am watching "50 First Dates." "Pretty Woman" will be on in one hour. I love that movie:-)

Hey - with that being said do you think your family you are visiting would know of a Charity on the island that perhaps we could all bring a toy for the children for Christmas? With all the money spent on the cruise and fe gifts I thought maybe we could give back a little too... A few weeks ago I spent all night looking online for an orphange on one of the islands we were visiting but could not find one. Would anyone else be interested in this?:littleangel:

Great idea!!!! Would love to contribute.

Mickeyteachers, I am glad that you are feeling better. :cheer2:
I also create spreadsheets for packing, but my DH and DD do not pay attention to it.
My DH does not get too excited either. He just wants his Drink of the day in his hand.

Do you get the entire week of Thanksgiving off? I do. We are taking furlough days:-(

No, we do not get the entire Thanksgiving off using furlough days. Instead we had to take three weeks off at Christmas and one day before school started and one day when school gets out. Most teachers still are working the day before school and the day school gets out. I guess it could be worse. I could be without a job. So, I am happy I have a job. Since both my husband and I are teachers I am very thankful for each day I get the opportunity to work.

Has anyone thought about hanging a Christmas wreath on their stateroom door? Any ideas on how to hang one on the door?
Without having it stolen?

Has this been brought up before? :confused3

I would very much like to participate in giving a bit back to one of the island communities. Great idea!

I think a wreath might stick out too much on the stateroom door, but maybe somewhere in the room? There a cute cordless lighted ones in brookstone and frontgate, I know. Maybe a magnetic one for the door?

I also would like to give back to the community. What a lovely idea!

This week it is a school holiday for the kids. (Well dd10, as I home school my eldest). So we are planning lots of fun planning activities to get even more excited for the holiday.

Today I have to get my formal dress zipper fixed and buy the final bits for the FE. Tomorrow we are going shopping for the final clothes on our list then I can begin the job of packing and organising.
I also finish with my second job this week so I can concentrate more on slimming down for the cruise.

7 weeks & 4 days... til Vaca.. 53 days.

Rain last night in STL.. More rain coming.. :upsidedow

3 days til WDW for trick or treat... and we aren't even packed for that.. :scared1: Its a surprise for the kids..:rolleyes1

Welcome to all the folks we have missed welcoming..

No hand made FE gifts from the Frids.. sorry... :sad2: We are more of the store bought gift people.. :3dglasses

OK-

On a whim, I decided to teach myself to sew yesterday! :rotfl2: I bought a little Singer and started practicing...

Goal is to make our fish extender by scratch. So far so good, but it is certainly taking a lot of time. I will hopefully finish today and post picture later! :thumbsup2

Wish me luck...we are also not crafty so store bought FE gifts coming from this family also! :cool2:
