Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Happy Birthday colkath2005!!!!!:woohoo:

I'll be celebrating my birthday on our cruise (December 22nd) and can't think of a better place to be!!!!

Happy Birthday Colette! :dance3:

Rumor has it I'll be turning 40 on Dec 14th....so we'll call this cruise a birthday celebration. (They are all celebrating SOMETHING!:rotfl:)

Penny (Digging in my heels at 39)

Hey - with that being said do you think your family you are visiting would know of a Charity on the island that perhaps we could all bring a toy for the children for Christmas? With all the money spent on the cruise and fe gifts I thought maybe we could give back a little too... A few weeks ago I spent all night looking online for an orphange on one of the islands we were visiting but could not find one. Would anyone else be interested in this?:littleangel:
:thumbsup2 This is a fabulous idea!:lovestruc I will let any and all wishing to participate know what I find out!

Today is a busy day for me. Its my birthday I will be working from 2 until 8, then I have a meal with all my work mates at TGI Friday's. So I am enjoying the morning being showered with hugs and kisses from my 3 boys.

I was lurking on some of the other threads and found one where the had a countdown chain. Basically its a paper chain (like the kids make at christmas) and everyday you take off a link. This one has a Disney charector/logo on each link and a countdown e.g, 49 days to disney. As we are leaving early and the kids wont get an advent calender I thought this was a great idea.

The kids were very impressed, loved making them and it (almost) makes up for te fact we wont have our house decorated this year!

party::bday:party:
We did a paper chain too! We just did plain old links though lol Ours ends at a picture of the Magic. I did put Halloween Mickey stickers on the day we were going to Disneyland and there is a plane sticker on the last link that he gets to take down the morning we are catching our flight:cool1:

I keep reading--and worrying--about that package-sending-ahead info. I did it last cruise but not for Christmas presents. I need it this time for my Santa believers to have a few gifts but there is no way to fit much of anything into a 12" square box. Am I reading that right? Even those shirt size boxes you wrap stuff in are longer than 12". I've got to wrap a couple of Harry Potter Lego sets and a few other things plus stocking stuffers and I just don't see that happening in a 12" box.

Me again....another question. I'm thinking a bit about switching from a Cat 6 to a Cat 5 simply because my cat 6 is a connecting room and I'm worried about noise. There are only 3 rooms left in Cat 6 and they are all connecting but there are several Cat 5s and none of them connect and there are some midship, starboard which is my preference.

But I'm paranoid enough to wonder if there is a noise issue on 7 or something. Anybody in the know? Apparently, I'm too lazy to research if its under the theatre or something :)

And is there any way to find out which staterooms (in 5 or 6) have the solid white wall verandah? Not sure how to feel about those, either (never had one)

Hello everyone!

Sorry I have been pretty much MIA for over a month now. I've been lurking on the thread everyday, but have refrained from posting for a reason...

Long story short, DH and I had looked at doing some home renovations this summer but decided to hold off due to the ourtrageous quote we got.:scared1: We then decided to book this cruise. A few weeks after we booked it, the company who we wanted to do the renovation work offered us quite a big discount, so much so that we felt foolish not to go ahead with the work. Well, as that commenced, we got really busy and also started wondering if we needed to hold off on the cruise, so we cancelled it just before the PIF date and decided to re-book it again later if we felt it was the right thing to do. That was my motivation to go into major saving mode and I'm happy to say that we just rebooked!

Now I will probably be on this thread more often than you all would like - ha ha!

We're already signed up for the FE exchange, and I need to look back at the other activities going on to see what else we might be able to do.

Anyhow, I am majorly doing the happy dance right now! :cool1:

:welcome: back! :welcome: back!

Yay! Rangers!!!! Woo Hoo!!

Ok, for those who want name tags - CAN YOU PLEASE PM ME??? It will be very difficult to manage through the posts here :)

Please PM me with your DIS name and your REAL name.... Now obviously, not everyone will have both, so if you have no DIS name, just put N/A and then the read name.... :)

Hope that makes sense!!! I am happy to do these and realize I must be crazy saying that. I will be providing the name tags at the first DIS meet on the boat as we will not be at the Hyatt pre-crusie (we are going to be at the Boardwalk on the evening of the 17th - yay).

Phew! What am I missing? Oh, and did I mention that the Rangers are going to the World Series!!! Something us Texans thought we may never see, LOL!

Will do! Thanks!

Way to go Rangers!!!

My vote is entirely selfish - if someone upgrades from a cat. 6 connecting room, there might be two connecting 6's available for us to upgrade to at the port! :rolleyes1

Well I'm back home! And totally exhausted! I sat down on the couch while the girls were do a craft project at the table and FELL ASLEEP!!! Gracie came up and climbed in my lap and whispered, "Can I sleep with you Mommy?"

They just finished watching Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue and are settling into the tent upstairs! And it's only 9pm. (Yes, we have a tent in the house - no other way to have multiple kids under a mosquito net.)

Also exciting news for us - we managed to rent our house in VA! Yippeeee!!! We are moving home next summer, so could only rent it for 10 months after our previous tenants unexpectedly moved out. Lucky for us we got a military family who is only planning to be in the DC area 'till next summer. I got to sign the lease while I was in DC last week. This definitely helps ease my mind about cash flow this year!

BTW - You guys are getting really hard to keep up with! 4-5 pages a day!! I'll never be able to finish my FE gifts if I have to be on the DIS this much each day!!! :lmao::lmao: I was so good when I visited my mom, got 4 done in one day! Then I got to DC and all I did was eat and shop and eat and shop. (Well I went to work too, but that doesn't count.) I tried to do a couple more on the airplane - I mean, afterall what else is there to do in a tin can 40,000ft up for 8 hours. :confused3 Of course, I was absolutely exhausted and kept messing up and having to redo each one. So, I gave up. Now I really need to get my rear end in gear and get these done! :thumbsup2

So is anyone out there an iPad tutor? I won one last week from work (they want me to play with it and figure out how we can use them for outreach work overseas). Trouble is, I don't know how to use it! Although it is pretty cool!

Well, need to do lights out for the 9-year-olds upstairs and then get some shut eye myself.

Night!

My favorite place on the Magic is the hot tub by the Quiet Cove pool. I wish I was there now!

We really prefer a cat 5 room, and that's exactly what we requested for this cruise, cat 5, starboard, midship. I think that depending where you are located in cat 6, that you can hear some noise from below, and when we had a cat 4 starboard, midship, we could hear so much noise from deck 9, like chairs scraping across the floor, running, etc. I did like the little bit of extra room in a cat 4, but not worth the noise for me. I love deck seven. It's quiet and convenient to everything.

I also have a wierd thing about connecting rooms unless I'm traveling with my "door" mates. In hotels I always ask to be moved if I am put in a connecting room, for some reason it creeps me out. Best of luck in your choice! And if you do move we could end up being neighbors :)

Not sure about the white wall veranda.

3princessmommy,
right now all the Cat 6 that are left ARE connecting. If I can get the room I want, I'm gonna move. Can't really justify the $, except I don't wanna connect. Somehow, I've gone from a 7 night to an 11 night, Cat 10 or 9 GTY, to a 6 and now trying for a 5.
I've lost my everloving mind.

Lyrah, thanks for the push. I'm trying now. The website is showing 8 Cat 5 but my TA just said there is only one left. Don't know why that is.

Question - what is the best time to arrive at the DCL terminal in order to minimize wait time yet get on board at a reasonably early?

Meh, no matter when you get there you have to wait Liz. But the earlier the better, just like anything else. They usually don't start letting peeps on til 10:30-11 anyways. So say you get there for 9-930..and be in the first or second boarding group, you'll only have to wait 1-1.5 hours. The later you get there, the farther back of boarding group you'll get...blah blah blah. Wanna be there semi-early!Hehe

Sounds like our cruise is getting pretty full!!! Will I have ANY chance to upgrade to a veranda at the port???

Happy Saturday everyone. Getting ready to make spaghetti. Yum yum. Will imagine myself in that hot tub Liz!

Do we know if the Magic got new hot tubs in dry dock? I saw somewhere where someone on the WBTA saw some on the pier when they returned.

Our last two cruises (there were this year) on DCL they started letting people on at 11:45 and the other one was 12 Noon on the nose. I wouldn't count on earlier than that. We're on the Magic over Thanksgiving too so I can report back when we get home.

Blah, well that sucks...course I was talking from my experience last July. So they pushed it back even more, great. Oh wells I guess. Thanks for the info Teena.

I totally agree that is my favorite place...Quiet Cove's hot tub after a nice workout and a relaxing nap on the tile lounge chairs in the Rainforest.... :thumbsup2 Paradise

3princessMommy...Welcome home. I hope you had a nice and productive trip. How was the slumber party? My iPad and I are still getting to know each other. At times it is a love/hate relationship. I am ready to break up with my my new iPhone 4.
