Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Cracking up!!! And a full ship! We will drink and be merry. Anyone else like the Jose Cuervo Gold premixed margaritas? I am considering bringing a few bottles. Can I get ice in my big cup on deck 9? Or are the soda fountains set up so I can't fit the big cups in them? I was hoping to use them for soda too. 24 oz'rs???

You can get ice at deck 9's bevvie station, but they request (for health code reasons) that you use their disposable cups and transfer it to your reusable cups/bottles. Even easier, however, is to simply request an extra bucket of ice for beverages from your room steward. We get a bucket to put water bottles/wine/etc in, and a separate bucket to use for ice IN our bevvies.

:) Cheers! :santa:

I may have missed it, but has there been a final number count yet? We are flying in from Canada and need to think about total luggage weight, before I can even start on the FE gifts.
It would be a totally different gift for 30 vs 60!

Thanks!!!:santa:

What part of Canada? Wifey is a Newfie

Ok, sorry for spamming the boards for a minute, but I need to get my post count up, have 4 more to go til I can PM

ok, last post til I have something interesting to say. Once again, sorry for blowing up page 177, but everyone requires PM's for things and I didn't have my numbers to do it. Thanks for the patience (it's peanut butter jelly time...where you at)

This time next month we will be leaving for the airport!:cool1::banana:
We will be staying at a hotel near Gatwick then flying out on the 9th. Cant wait to hit the shops.:dance3:
Still working through my to-do list but everytime I take something off I find another to add on.
What traditions is everyone keeping to even though they are away from home?
We are still going to midnight mass and we are bringing crackers (not the edible kind) for our table for christmas day.

Do not go get a Brazilian Blowout. I'm still suffering the consequences from one last May. (Which I got for our Europe cruise)
My guess would be the salon does a fine job w/ regular styling. But did I understand $50.00?

OK, you will have to tell me abt on the ship. Thanks for the input.

FYI- My DD gets the Brazilian Blow-Out. The price is fairly reasonable. It is a protein that is put in her hair. She just washes and blow-dries (no flat ironing necessary) and no frizz. It lasts for about three months.

I use a Japanese straightening system on my hair, YUKO. It is very pricey. It is a chemical process. No flat iron necessary for straight hair (No frizz). It lasts for about six months. Just in time for our cruise, I am getting it done on Dec. 2.

Can you still go curly after one of these procedures? I actually love my curly hair for the wash and wear versatility. I just like an occasional straight look for dress up or business trips so it looks a bit more polished...but I couldn't give up the ease of jumping in the shower, scrunching and going! It's the one easy thing in my life. :cool1:

We're not decorating our cabin really much beyond our stockings. I have scaled back our holiday decorating in general as DD's birthday is the 18th and I don't like the focus being on Christmas until the 19th. So we decorate, but not too much beyond a tree and stockings. :santa:

DW was in TX all weekend for continuing education.. So I packed. ;)

DS is finished... so am I, except for some new shirts I want.. :thumbsup2 I have started gathering things for DD & DW... Got to buy a couple more suitcases. Hoping to get away with 5 large suitcases. You know those silly pirate costumes take up 1/2 a suitcase if not more. pirate:

5 weeks.. couple days.. we are outta here!

Just a quick one, if we decide to not split the FE groups, does this mean each group will deliver 60ish items a day for 11 days, so 660 items?

I hope not! I would have no room for shoes! I think that generally speaking it's one gift per stateroom, but some people do different things for kids than adults, etc. and you just have 11 days to get your deliveries done.

And even though I've never been able to understand the math of the split vs non split and how it will work, maybe we could think about splitting alphabetically for the FE gifts? To spread them out over the 11 days, like A-g distribute days 1-4; H-M distribute days 5-8; N-Z distrubute 9-11?

I know my split is messed up -- and this is probably adding too much complication to the process, but just a thought....

:scared1: no I think even the die hard fishies would swim away in terror at that thought. No, most people give to each cabin only once during the course of the cruise.

Hope that's a load off your mind:)

We decided for decorations at home this year that we would buy a 6 foot pre-lit tree, have the younger boys decorate it and not take out any of our Xmas bins. My DW was at a consignment shop yesterday scouting out cruise outfits for the boys. She came across the exact tree we had planned on buying in a few weeks still new in the box for $25.

Needless to say the tree is now up in our family room (took all of 10 minutes) and the boys have already started making decorations. They are having a blast being in charge of decorating the tree. Since my DS turns 7 next week, it is also going to be his "birthday tree" (Hope this doesn't lead to a new tradition!!).

Never thought I would have a Christmas tree up the week after Halloween.

I plan to have a fun day today while awaiting the final count on the FE. (Thanks in advance tinkmischief!:worship:)

I am going to start pulling out Christmas decorations today. Although it is 63 degrees in Minneapolis today, it could easily be snowing next week. :confused3

Today we will do exterior lights and a few "snowman/winter house decorations." I thought if I tackled a little each week, the decorating would be done right after Thanksgiving and give us a little more time to enjoy. This year I am not going to put up much that is "Christmas only" decorations. More snowmen and winter things that can stay up for a while when we return home (like until April around here!)

Have a great day!

We're really only gonna do the tree at home, and maybe a few little things around the house. Not gonna decorate like we normally do. As for the stateroom, we have our stockings, little mini light up trees, the battery operated string of lights I mentioned at the end of last week, and window clings and that's it. As for traditions, we do plan on going to Midnight Mass on Dec. 24, but after that..we're hoping we'll make NEW traditions for Christmas.. Maybe a DCL cruise every December will be it! That would be wonderful!
