Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Have a super time, Lori and Rick :yay:

-----

At Walmart today I saw in the kids section Tangled/Rapunzel dresses and wigs. Wonder if we'll see any worn on the boat?

okay, can y'all help with the logistics of this?
DH, who puts no thought into this trip whatsoever, just came up and asked me when my "send ahead" box has to be shipped. Odd, I thought, since I didn't know he even knew I HAD a send ahead box. Well, he has decided he wants to take his German beer and some Jack with him. Soooo,

1. Can I send that stuff ahead in my box?
2. If not, can I put it in my checked luggage?
3. If not either, how in the world will I get it to port? I can get a collapsible cooler, however, we are using ME which means there will be no alcohol stops.

What to do, what to do?

Hi miatamel,

1. Can I send that stuff ahead in my box? Unfortunately you can't send that stuff in your box. It specifically states in the information for sending a box that there can not be any liquids or food.

2. If not, can I put it in my checked luggage? DCL also specifically states that any liquids brought on board must be in your carry-on and not the checked luggage.

3. If not either, how in the world will I get it to port? I can get a collapsible cooler, however, we are using ME which means there will be no alcohol stops.
I can't really help with this one, we always use a car service and make a grocery stop. Maybe someone else has some ideas.

Sorry I couldn't pass on better information.

So excited...I found my 7 year old a Pirate costume at Target tonight for $3.75....not to shabby...

.

I was thinking I could check it from airport to resort and then put it in cooler for resort to port. I was just wondering if the airlines have restrictions against that? I don't fly (or drink) enough to know.

Will you add us to the roll call, please? myself, DH-Butch, DD-8-Colleen, DS-Ben-14, my parents (Gary,Camille), my husband's parents (Peggy, Benny), and my brother-in-law (Tiger) and I might add that we are all very proud AUBURN football fans! Anyone else coming on board wearing their orange and blue? War Eagle!

Don't know about the airline restrictions, but if you get to the port early enough, you could take a taxi to the closest store and buy some. Just pack a soft side cooler to put it in. Of course, the cost of the taxi, may negate your savings.

I sent a request to join the facebook group...first name Camie.

Thank you!

You can pack it in your checked luggage on the plane, but you'll have to move it from checked to carry-on to get on the ship. Just make sure you pack it really well and in a ziplock bag in case the airline is overly rough with your suitcase! :scared1:

Back from Marine Ball! (Sorry no pics...:sad1:...DH forgot the camera.) But hopefully will have some soon from other folks. Lots of fun and a relaxing morning with brunch at the resort...AHHHHH.:cloud9:

Girls survived without us, although dd9 evidently had difficulty sleeping away from Mommy.

Not sure what resort you're at but there's an ABC liquor store near DTD/hotel blvd. Depending on what he wants beer wise(they have a large selection) you could just wait and get it there.

Otherwise I agree with Joann- pack it in ziplocks with clothes around it as padding and switch it to carry on before heading to the port.

Hello Camie :wave2: Welcome aboard! :thumbsup2 Husband was just in Guntersville, AL yesterday judging his first BBQ contest. Looks like a beautiful place :) (We're up in TN.)

Melanie - USPS, FEDEX, and UPS will not send a package with alcohol. It's in the questions they ask when you drop it off. I learned the hard way and ended up having to drive a baseball bet 80 miles to deliver.

Happy Sunday!

Hi Melanie,

As far as I know the airlines do not have any restrictions. Just make sure you bubble wrap it and cushion it really good. DD brought a couple bottles of wine and some olive oil home from Greece and everything was fine. And then, like you said, you can move it to the cooler at the resort.

Thanks, Caryn! We are down in the middle part of the state, I teach at Marion Military Institute, a military junior college. This is our 2nd Disney cruise, first for our parents. My parents have done just about every cruise line out there and my Dad doesn't think the Disney cruise will be worth the extra $, so I can't wait for them to see how fabulous Disney does cruising! My in-laws have only cruised on a Carnival cruise out of New Orleans. They say they will miss the casinos, but the ports will have some, and I told them they can go play bingo. Watch out, they are the luckiest players, they always win! DD (8) is counting the days!

I am glad that you had a fabulous time at the Ball. I loved going the the Marine Corps Ball. DH looked so handsome in his Dress Blues. Good times. Priceless memories. Look forward to seeing pictures.

Hi Cammi -

I took my certification class for BBQ judging at UWA at Livingston a couple years back. My father-in-law, who passed in March, went to the Gulf Coast Military Academy in MS way back. Just read up on it and the senior branch has been gone 50+ years.

I am excited for the reaction of your parents and inlaws. Heck, I am excited for my own family's reactions. First cruise for DH and DD6, and my second, but first on Disney. It is getting so close!

5am... is there such a thing?!?
Yeah, there is .. sigh. I saw far too many 0'dark-30's on this last trip to Cape Canaveral (just got back yesterday and was AT the airport @ 5:30AM). It would have been a GREAT trip if the shuttle had flown, but there's always Nov. 30th - Dec. 5th ...... keeping fingers crossed.

Back to reading, since I have so much to catch up on.

Do any of you with curly hair attempt to straighten? I like to when I get dressed up sometimes, but wondering if I'm just waisting space in my suitcase b/c hair will frizz immed. b/c of humidity? I'm thinking I am silly for even considering trying to flat iron my hair on a cruise. Any experience?

FYI- My DD gets the Brazilian Blow-Out. The price is fairly reasonable. It is a protein that is put in her hair. She just washes and blow-dries (no flat ironing necessary) and no frizz. It lasts for about three months.

I use a Japanese straightening system on my hair, YUKO. It is very pricey. It is a chemical process. No flat iron necessary for straight hair (No frizz). It lasts for about six months. Just in time for our cruise, I am getting it done on Dec. 2.
