Magic Bands

I just logged into My Disney Experience to check on some things for my upcoming trip in December and found that we get Magic Bands!! OMG I am sooooooooooooo excited!! Now the hard choice is to select what color to get. My husband will end up with the blue one, but I am torn between pink and red. Has anyone used Magic Bands before? I cannot wait, now this trip cannot come soon enough. Thanks Disney for making my day!!!!!

I think after I read this I went and checked our upcoming trip and sure enough they were on there, now just to get the AP added back on and then to make FP+ picks

We used them in AUg and really liked it. We didn't think we would but we did. I think they have to make some changes but we liked it. Any questions just ask

We have a split stay coming up in March and have two sets. This way I've got some extra souvenirs. They did say on the phone they should be able to link our tickets together when we get there. I hope so or I may be wearing two during the second half of the trip. Does anyone know if it's okay to put nicknames on them or will that show up when we use our tickets and we will have to have additional ID?

I was told you can put whatever name you want on them but to remember CM's will see that name on the screen when you scan and may address you by whatever name you put on the band.

I could be mistaken, but I thought I'd read that the CMs will see the name on your account (your real name), and the names on the bands are just to help the family keep track of which belongs to whom.

That's what I was wondering about. It would be really funny if the CM called my husband by his nickname. It was his idea to put it on one of his bands!

I just set up our Feb trip and used nicknames, rather that others didn't know my first name unless I tell them. Mine is pink, DH will have red.

I'm not sure I see the advantage of wearing a band. Do you keep it on all week, in the shower, while you sleep, etc., or do you take it off and put it on again each morning?

We were there last week and yes we wore them all day including the pool .I took mine off to sleep though. Actually needed them at BLT pool because it has gates that you need to scan MB to get in.
By the way we had a split stay also (BWV-BLT) and also had two sets of bands. By chance I asked desk at BLT a question when leaving for BWV and she told me good thing I stopped because you need to "check out" on the MB . Didn't seem to make sense to me , because why did they send me bands for each hotel ? Anyway that's what she said.
We also put our names on bands along with BLT or BWV so we will remember in the future which bands we used where . Just a thought.
Jealous of all who are headed down since I just came back.

This past week while staying at AKL, all my FP choices for three different parks did NOT work!
We got the blue color at all our FP entrances, had to be pulled aside, checked out by their manual system, which sometimes worked, and I had a printout of all my FPs to provide proof of entrance. We got in but were delayed at every entrance.
I have complained to the resort front desk, DVC, and some of the FP locations at the parks. I should of also gone to customer service at the parks but did think of it while there.

I used nicknames for both me and DH. Got a couple of snickers from the front desk clerk when he gave them to us because of it (we're from Canada and they don't ship - you have to pick them up at the resort). Otherwise, there's no impact to the name you put on it. As others have stated, it's simply to allow you to keep track of who they belong to if more than one person in the family has the same colour.

The bands do not themselves have any information on it beyond a code to link to your MDE account. Therefore, your account needed to register that you had left one resort and were checking into a second. You could have used either band for either hotel or one for both. Both bands would have the same code to link to your account.

When customizing the Magic Band, does the name you indicate actually get printed on the band? Or is does it just show up on a CM's screen?

Trying to figure out if I want our child's name or nickname on it.

Yes it does on the underside. Think it's 9-10 digits. You can put whatever you like on it (within reason) . I put my name and then BLT so when band goes into my collection I'll remember what hotel we were at.
