Magic Bands Setup

I ordered Magic Bands prearrival for everyone in our party and I have them at home charging before our trip. Can I pair them to their accounts using just my iphone? And will they need to pair it to their phone as well or will it automatically be paired? Also can I update magic band software for a family member's magic band that I no longer manage?

Pre-arrival MagicBands are automatically linked to the appropriate MDE account(s) before they are shipped out. To pair a MB+ to bluetooth, you must log in to the MDE app on the actual smartphone you want it paired to. Once paired to bluetooth, you can then update the MB+. If any of your family members have their own MDE account(s) and you are connected via the Family & Friends list, their MB+ is already linked to their OWN MDE account.

If I am understanding this correctly, I will give everyone in our party their MB+, which I ordered for them....each family has their own MDE app on their phones, so they need to link their bands themselves? Most of the bands were pre-arrival orders but a few were from the Disney Store, so those will need to be done manually, yes? And the pre-arrival bands will automatically be paired?

The pre-arrival bands will automatically be linked to MDE, but pairing to bluetooth (which is optional) is a manual process.

Retail bands (purchased at WDW or from DisneyStore.com), need to be manually linked to MDE.
