Magic Bands for Split Stay

I have a split stay coming up in March.

I was under the impression that we would receive two sets of bands, one for each reservation.

However, we were only offered the opportunity to customize bands for the first reservation. So I thought, maybe its a glitch and when they ship, I'll see the other set of bands in MDE. But they shipped a couple days ago and I don't see any other bands coming.

Have they changed to only sending one set of bands? Will we just duplicate versions of the colors we customized?
 
Since your bands are tied to your MDE account, the same bands will continue to work. I'm not sure if they have stopped sending a second set of bands for reservations that close, but someone will know.
 
Are both of your reservations showing up in MDE? Last year and the year before that we did splits and had 2 separate bands tied to each reservation. I was always under the impression that Disney saw split stays as 2 separate reservations and thus giving you the option to get a second set.

I'm interested in finding out if they have stopped doing this.
 
I have a split stay at Yacht Club and Boardwalk coming up in April and we have been asked to customize bands for both stays.

Does seem like a waste. We may opt out of the ones for the second part of the trip. I wish there were some sort of incentive to opt out.
 

You should be able to customize for both resorts. You do have the option to decline getting magic bands for a stay, but if you don't see the option, you should make sure both reservations are linked to Your MDE account. Not sure if they fixed it yet, but on a prior split stay we were told to be sure to check out at the front desk from resort 1 before checking in to resort 2 to be sure our MBs worked ok at the second resort.

I'm not really worried about whether I get a second set, I'm more just curious if this is an error or a change in course.

that's really odd. I wish I could see what you're seeing!

When you go into the MB section on a computer (not the app), it just talks about the ones that were just shipped?
 
I just had a split stay and was only offered one set of magic bands. Had issues checking into the second hotel. Not quite sure what the issue was, but they took our magic bands from us and we're on the phone with their technical team for a while. But once they were done everything worked fine. Just make sure that you tell them when checking into the second resort that you were a split stay and have them make sure the bands are set up properly. Nothing worse then getting to your room and not being able to get in.
