Magic Bands - Crazy for Color?

First off, let me say that as a Canadian, spelling Color without a U is just plain torture.

Anyhoo, on to my burning question.

It seems (after reading the boards for years) that folks are crazy for colored Magic Bands. In fact, it seems that if you're spotted wearing a grey band that you are pitied for losing the one Disney had previously issued to you and you were given grey as a consolation prize.

I personally think they're very unattractive and prefer the grey one as I find it is less intrusive in photos and could possibly pass as a watch.

Am I alone in this?

Simple curiosity.

I've seen the most uncontroversial threads go south fast and I just want to be clear - simply a question. No judgement or attack on those who love the coloured Magic Bands. My daughter is one of the folks super stoked for the addition of purple.

GREY??? The color without color. Such a sad, drab tone .... full of doom and gloom.

Wear whatever you want. One of my favorites is my Haunted Mansion grey MB.

I think initially is was the "lost" "got at resort desk" "unwanted" one but now with all the special ones, print your own, decorate your own .... no one will notice. Well I would, but SO WHAT WHO CARES it's your MB, wear it proud!

Don't let anyone Disney-shame you!

I prefer the colored bands (well, I prefer to decorate my own at home) but I certainly don't waste any time trying to pick out people who have grey bands so that I can judge them for it. That's ridiculous. I'd just assume they liked grey.

My husband picked Grey as well he wants something plain if he has to wear it constantly. There is no changing his mind sadly, the rest of us (me and three kids) all have a color magic band. To each their own I guess and he is happy with what he is getting.

Truthfully, I want another option than the bands. I have an upcoming trip, first since MB. I did order my favorite color, but I have to figure out a way to comfortably carry it when I can no longer stand to wear it. I do not want to just throw it in a bag because I might not always have a bag. I may or may not wear something with pockets every day. I despise lanyards around my neck so I have my work cut out for me.

I have almost 6 months to come up with a design that I can handle.

Myfiancé picked Grey (or is it Gray) because they didn't have an all black band. He said in his eyes it was the "manliest" color they offered. lol. Plus he said it would match most of his outfits (HAHA) - yes he worries about stuff matching.

I love the colored ones, and that each member of my family could pick what they liked. If I had to have a grey one, I would definitely decorate it somehow. More color = more fun = more Disney to me!

My mom picked the "grey band of shame" our last trip for the same reason. I painted mine with teal nail polish. Whatever you'd prefer.

Clipon badge holder.

Both of the above with a card of course.

MB on a belt loop of you have no bag or on the bag strap for when you do.

Let someone else carry the MB for you.

You can also get the old Key to the World Card at check in. Our very first Magic Band trip I asked for one just because I was worried we'd lose them. Carried it in my aluma-wallet in pocket all week.

I don't mind the gray/grey. My favorite colors are pink and purple so I have that. I'm working on having and entire set of the colors. Then I'll start with gray/grey because those seem easier to decorate.

In other news, as a child I for some reason spelled color with the "u". In school I got bad marks when we had to do the old "alphabetical order, sentences & write words 5 times" thing and color was a word.

Mom actually had to go to school and see principal because when she visited with the teacher, she repeatedly said it was "wrong".

My DP and I have chosen gray because we got custom MagicYourBands and I figured that gray was the most neutral color to use as the base beneath the stickers.

I figure I might have to just ask for the card. At least I can put that with my ID/CC/Money since it is thin enough. That is the main problem with the band, it is too bulky to fit with the way I do carry things when I do not have a bag.

I rarely wear clothing with belt loops at WDW, in fact, I am tempted to just stick with leggings and tunics or dresses on my trip next year. Maybe I will just make the tunics or dresses and make the pockets the way I want them for the items I would need to carry.

I'm not a fan of grey..but if they had a black magic band I would get it. The grey one is just too dull imo.

DH picked the grey band, he already has blue and yellow, but for this trip picked it based on his luggage tag choice. I already have orange and green so I went with purple. We will eventually get all the colours!! (Canadian too!!)
