Magic Bands at DLR...what am I missing?

This will probably be the reason why I wind up getting them for our family of four. This will be our first time at DLR, but at WDW, we've been using MBs for years, so we're used to them and not having to pull out a phone to scan. But more importantly, I'm the one with the Disney account/app that schedules everything -- my DH nor my boys have any interest in having their own accounts and dealing with all of that (and I don't really want them in mine). So, I do think it will be convenient not only to not have to scan them in (tickets and LL), but if the boys want to ride something via LL and I feel like sitting it out or they want to get a photo, they won't need my phone to do it.

With that said, does shopDisney ever have sales on these?
Yeah, they had holiday ones (Halloween, Christmas) for under $15.

Are these your own designs? Will you be uploading them somewhere for other 3D printer aficionados? They look amazing.
They are. I just got my first 3d printer last month and I always need a project to learn a new skill. I now have a big zip loc baggie full of iterations to get to this point, it's been a very educational process.

I'm a little new to the game of sharing 3D printer files and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it. I am trying to sell the finished holders on etsy (if i ever show up in search results), but I wouldn't be adverse to sharing files with some folks here on the boards for personal use, because you board people are just so cool...

Feel free to DM me if you'd like to print some for yourself and we can work out the details.

For sure. I finally got a got a good design worked out that snaps together around the puck and allows for attachment to a retractable badge holder while also fitting in the charger. I also made one with a keyring and a lobster clasp.

That's really cool. I had no idea you could take the face out like that. I might look into getting something like that because I never wear watches and was planning on attaching my magic band to my bag anyway.

I'm curious as I've heard that at WDW, once they are connected to your MDE, you can't use them for anyone else. But at DLR, you can! I may or may not be looking to sell mine after our trip...resale value seems to be pretty high right now.

That does appear to be the case, at least presently:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/bands-cards/transferring-to-friend/
vs
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/apps-devices/transferring-to-friend/

It will be interesting to see where it goes. I'm not sure if the restrictions in WDW are due to the attachment of payment information to the bands, or if it is just a software issue that hasn't been ironed out. If the former, then I'd expect that restriction to hit DLR as well when/if they eventually attach payment options to the MB+. If the latter, then I'd expect WDW to eventually allow for transfer.

It’s interesting how different they set it up at DL. Where it’s attached to your ticket I read of your account. I do wish I could pay for stuff with a tap though!

I also wish you could have friends and see each other's plans instead of having to load everyone's tickets to everyone's app.
