Not sure if this has been mentioned before or not.... My dad and sister did a quick 2 day trip this weekend without any FP+ reservations. While they were in the standby line for Dinosaur, they noticed that every time someone would go past the 2nd checkpoint with FP, their name would show up on the screen for the CM to see. They said for about 15 minutes they were able to see every persons name who went through the line.

Just thought I would pass this along, not sure if it bothers anyone else but I'm just not that comfortable with all my info being out there for the world to see.

That is all they can see is your name. The idea behind that part is to make it personal so say your walking through Dinosaur the CM could say "enjoy the ride (insert your name here)!"

The name you choose to use with your MB (just a first name) is not exactly "all of your info,"
but, yes, it will be displayed.
It is usually that only a CM will see it, but the screens can sometimes be seen by guests as well.

I didn't see a place on MDE to assign only a first name, but I wasn't really looking for it, since it doesn't bother me.

I liked that when I walked into Kidani Village to check in, I was greeted with "Welcome home, Mrs. X".

I, personally, would dislike that, if it was done at a point away from the front desk.
Since I know that its just a "gimmick" it loses its appeal in a hurry.

Walmart, for a brief time, used to have checkout clerks call customers
"Mrs. X" or "Mr. X" when the customers used credit/debit cards and wrote checks

It was so unpopular a practice with customers (made them uncomfortable) and clerks (they had trouble pronouncing so many names) that Walmart discontinued the policy.

Disney also planned to have some characters and CMs call (at least) kids by their first names using the MB technology.
This has been (at least) put on hold, for the most part, due to lots of issues, some of which I mentioned above.

In't it just your first name that shows up for the Cm to see?

At the parks, that is what I have understood to be the case.

At the resorts, I have no idea.
(Of course at the FRONT DESK of the resort, all kinds of info is available to the clerk.)

This may be obvious to most everyone but: The only information on the band is an id number read by the scanners. The computers link that number to your personal information inside the computer systems. There is no personal info on the band itself.

It's not on MDE...it's comes when you 'customize' your MB...it asks for a name for the back of the MB. That chosen name is what will be printed on the reverse side of your MB and is what the CM will see when you go through the line.
I once put goofytnk on mine...the CM looked at me and said 'Hi Goofy?!' He was a bit confused. I have since used my regular name.
There is nothing on the MB that is personal...other than the name you choose. You can choose any name you want! The MB is merely a 'link' to the entire Disney system. Nothing is actually stored on it.

It's whatever you had put on your Magicband when you were personalizing it.

So, if you decided your children would be 'Thing One' and 'Thing Two' they would be called those names.

I tried putting El Conquistodor on mine but it was too long :(

Hmm...I was playing with my bands on MDE and their word filter is less than strict. I was able to get it to accept a lot of very non-PG things.

1. My wife worked at Walmart at that time and she said it was some sort of credit fraud detection. I guess if you used the person's name and they went "huh?!?" you could deduce that it was a stolen card. :confused3 But not sure what they would have done after the sale.

2. Yes after all the uproar with putting the child's name in 3 point type on the underside of the band, what would happen if the character knew the childs name. Some my even wonder if the friend of the character was either psychic or maybe a stalker.

All your info is not up there for the world to see. Just the first name. If it makes you nervous then put a fake name on your MDX account.

PS. it will NOT show the word or name that is printed on the back of the band. Just the name associated with the attached MDX account. Same thing when they get so the characters will greet a child by name. Not the name on the back of the band - the name on the MDX account.

I find it rather annoying to be called Mrs. X since I'm not married, and that is often the default. It may be another reason why they stopped doing it.

Whatever name that is linked to your MB, whether it is first name only or full name is what shows up.

FWIW: most of us really pay little or no attention to the name, only to the FP time listed when the blue comes up.

Robo, I have a question for you.

They ask what to personalize them with. For my upcoming trip We decided to personalize my mom's with the name my kids call her(Nanny)...
I know it will come up, but will it cause any trouble in case she should have to show I.D.?

I haven't finished customizing my bands yet, just a thought i had
