I've been reading lots on here about magic bands and I know people are still getting used to them but it would be great if someone can help me, so here's my question

We are coming over from UK next month, we are staying off site and will be picking up our tickets from DTD on our first night. DH wants to buy magic bands so what do we do first? From what I've read you can buy magic bands at DQ and that's also where the guest relations is for collecting our 14 day pass so do we get our bands first and have CM link them to our passes or do we need to get the passes first then get the bands!?

I thought they wouldn't sell them to you unless you had a ticket to link to it and they did that at the register when you purchase the band.

Disney was not just selling the bands as souvenirs a couple of weeks ago. You needed to have your ticket and they will linked it for you there. Then you'll be able to use it.
So it'll be best for you to get your ticket and then the MBs. They will link it anyway they are selling MB at the register.:thumbsup2

I apologize for going off subject a bit here...

14 day ticket? I didn't know there was such a thing (maybe UK only?). Is it much less than an AP? If you will have a vehicle, I have to think that the cost difference between any 14 day ticket and an AP would cover parking costs for 14 days. If that's the case, remember you can just upgrade one of your tickets to an AP...plus you get the other benefits (merchandise, discounts at DQ/water parks, eligibility for Tables in Wonderland, etc.).

So you don't need to be staying on site to get magic bands? What's the benefit of getting these as opposed to just having your ticket with you? How do you go about even ordering?

No, you can get them if you're offsite. I think there's a onetime charge (maybe $13). The main benefit would be not having to go into pockets/wallets/etc. every time you need it scanned (park entry, FP's, kiosks, Test Track). If that doesn't bother you, the ticket will do just fine.

A 14 day pass is about $450
We won't be going to disney everyday but if we were it looks like it would be worth getting an AP.
We have an Orlando flex ticket too which is unlimited entry to Seaworld, Universal studios, IOA, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Wet n Wild for 14 days.
This is about $400

Do you not get these in USA? I never thought about buying the tickets when we arrive but if they are cheaper I will next time!

Can you link the band to a Disney Chase Credit card for purchases?

No you can't link a credit card :(
We only need one for park entry and Fastpass+ But DH likes them and wants one as a souvenir

I'm hoping they will introduce the system at Disneyland paris too then we can use them there we go to Paris more often as we live closer
