Magic Bands 101

Ok thanks so much! Do you happen to know what other themes they have and what store they can be purchased in??

Right now it's Frozen and Star Wars if they aren't all sold out.

The Frozen Bands should be around for a while, because they are "Open Edition" (aka we'll make more.) The Star Wars ones were limited edition.

I have been searching but couldn't find an answer. I'm renting Points for BWV. We got tickets at UT. We're taking DME (DMX?) Everything's linked to MDE. We land around 10:30 am.

So the logical flow on arrival is take DMX to BWV, check in and activate the bands, and go to Epcot/eat lunch.

My question is: is there an alternate way to activate the bands and/or get into the park and use FP+ without going though BWV checkin first? So for example, let's say we find out the DMX route is something crazy like POP, CBR, YC, BC, BW. Could we just get off at POP, eat a quick lunch, take a bus to Epcot, activate the bands (maybe at guest services?), and check in at BW later that day?

Because you don't have a package and have separate tickets, your MB should be ready to go when you get there....so yes, you can get off wherever you like.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's good to know we have options. :)

The Frozen ones are the only ones I'm aware of and as far as I know they're only available in Wanderin' Oaken's Trading Post (I think that's the name of it) in DHS.

I've seen the Star Wars bands in Mickey's of Hollywood, too.

Hey quick question that maybe someone has already asked so apologies in advance if that's the case. I ordered our disney tickets online and am supposed to pick them up at the park but through the confirmation number have already linked them with our MagicBands, will I still need to pick up the hard tickets at a park or will we be able to just walk up to the gate? Thanks in advance for all your help.

You can go on in, but I would pick up your tickets on the way in just in case there is a glitch. Always good to have the hard copy.

If I have split reservations, I should be able to get a Magic Band with each reservation right?
We are staying at CBR for a couple of nights and then at AKV for a week. I will not be purchasing tickets with our DVC reservation as I am purchasing the 9 day tickets with the CBR package.
I would love to have two magic bands for each person so that we will each have a couple of different colors. Also, DH wants to "customize" his band and I told him he could customize one band if we were able to get two.
I am just trying to figure out everything. We've went several years with the last time being in summer 2013, but since then, everything has changed. FP+, Magic Bands, Memory Maker....I'm just trying to keep up.

Yes. 2 bands.

Sorry if this has already been posted but i am new to these bands.

I used points through RCI to stay at Disney's Old Key West Resort in November. My MIL says she can get 3 day tickets and get 4th & 5th days free through her work somewhere outside the main gate. My question is can ....

-Get the Magic Band?
-Get it before arrival and add the tickets to it when i purchase them?
-Do you set up a account and if so where?

Since i am not booked through Disney i dont know how this works.

1. Yes. Anyone staying on property gets Magic Bands.

2. Since you live in the U.S., yes, they'll send the bands to you. You don't actually put anything "on" your Magic Band; the Magic Band is just a way to access what's on your My Disney Experience account.

3. You set up your My Disney Experience account here:

I'm sooo very confused, and I know its probably something simple, but I don't get it so I'm seeking help.

We still have our MB's from our May trip with our AP's on it. We have a September and an October trip planned.

Because we are AP holders, we cannot pick fast passes until 30 days prior? Our last MB we were able to do it at 60 days (although they didn't list us as AP holders for some reason) I haven't received any new confirmation in the mail to register, etc our MB's for our new trips.

When I go on my account, I am able to pick 2 other MB colors for September I'm assuming, but our May ones are still showing up as being active, which is fine, but, will the new MB's have our dining ressies and information on them or will they be "empty" and we'll have to link them when we arrive?

And what about our October trip? Will there be 2 new MB's or? :confused3

1. There is NOTHING on your MB. Everything is in your MDE account, the band is just a login that points to your account.

2. AP holders can book 7 (I think) days of FP+ in every 30 days window. IF you have a Disney Resort stay you fall under the resort rules which are 60days out from check-in for length of stay

3. it must have been a resort stay

4. see 1 above. NOTHING is on your MB

5. if it's a resort stay you'll get more MB every time you stay at a resort you get a fresh set of MB.

6. Likely if you are staying on property

7. yep

A good friend who knows her stuff helped me to (finally) understand MBs:

Every MB you own will have your reservations and tickets on them. So if you have a blue one from your last stay, a pink one for an upcoming reservation and an orange one for one night at a third resort, all will work for your room at the third resort.

(There is something supposedly about activating your newest MB at your resort room before it has all your info but I am not sure if that is true.)

Also, during your upcoming stay, you could use the blue one (from previous vacation) on day one and the pink one the next day. Or change midday. They are tied to you not the resort reservation.

I just don't know if the third resort MB will work before you check in.

We are staying at the Dolphin in September, and the Swan in October and from what I've been reading, I should be able to make my selections 60 days in advance.

I guess I'll call tech support. I linked our resort stay to MDE, but I'm almost at the 60 day window and when I hit FP selections it only takes me until August 22nd, so something isn't right there.

Thanks for your help!:goodvibes

Magic Band rookie here... :wave2:

We have booked a last minute trip (yesterday) and are arriving July 28. Will my MBs be waiting at the resort? I am assuming that there is not enough time for Disney to ship them to me. What happens if they are not at the resort? TIA

No, there is time to get them delivered. It only takes about three-five days to get them.

In case anyone else has a last minute trip come up...
I called Disney and was told by a CM that the "official" policy is that if the time of arrival is within a week then they will ship the MBs to your resort, and not to your home.

If I buy tickets from the Disney Store, can I put them in my account to attach to the MB's?

If I opt for a 10 day no expiration ticket, how does that work for MB's and future trips.

Thanks!!

Tickets are not attached to MB. Magic bands and tickets are attracted to your MDE account. ANy MB linked to your account can access any ticket linked to your account.

Wrapping up our week here and we have 10 huge thumbs up for the magic bands! Worked like a charm everywhere! It was especially nice not to have to dig cards out of backpacks while wearing ponchos!!

The only issue is with the way Disney charges and the $1500 limit. We prepaid our whole room but they still put on the total for each night as part of your $1500 ( which we didn't realize,) so we were shopping and they told us we were over our credit limit. Thank goodness we had cash with us!

Sorry I am so confused on MB's, hopefully someone can help my scenario:

9/20-10/2
First 3 nights at Port Orleans
Next 6 nights at Shades of Green
Last 3 nights at Beach Club

So on my account, I was asked to customize two sets of MB's for our two disney reservations....

I have 2 day tickets left over from our last trip that were never activated, going to upgrade to 10 day's and activate them when we get down to guest services.

Shades of Green does not partake in MB's, so will the two sets of MB's that I receive just basically be for room key/charging privilges and then we will just keep our tickets separate from the MB's?
