I have seen quite a few people saying it is hard to twist your hand round to get the Mickey head to lay flat on the sensor, and my family also experienced this on our last trip.
If they angled it so it sat on the outer side of the wrist it would make more sense. Or am I just being stupid and missing something really obvious???

I know it isn't a big deal but seems like an easy fix :confused3

I'll give credit to my 12-year old for solving this problem for us. Shortly after our first encounter with trying to line up the mickey heads and having a problem, my "think outside the box" son said something to the effect that since the Magicbands are circular, you can really wear the "mickey head" at any position around your wrist and facing either up or down to make it the best for you. Of course his comment was a "Duh" kind of moment for the rest of us, and for the rest of our trip we all wore the bands so that the mickey head was at the outside of our left wrist instead of at the top (back of the hand,) and had a very easy time lining them up. They certainly weren't as pretty that way, but none of us had to do twisty contortions to get them to line up :goodvibes

Another thing that helped the bands work for me: When we got our magicbands they were very tightly wrapped in a small circle--which was good for my 9-year old, but not so much for me. I took mine out of the box and flattened it under a heavy book for a few days and that made it a lot more comfortable. I saw other families with their bands on backpack straps or belt loops. You just have to find out what is good for you.

One thing we realized after watching my mother in law contort her body at every tapstile.... Is that she thought mickey's head had to match up exactly (ears facing up, etc) which is unnecessary. We never had an issue just tapping our wrist to the thing as we walked past. If you're. A child or very short tho, perhaps the thingy isn't at a great height. We're 5ft8 & 6ft2

We are a family if 6. From 5 to 45. This was not an issue for us at all. Not even a thought.

I wore mine so that the Mickey head was under my wrist instead of on top, it worked well for me

I don't understand. From the pictures I've seen, don't you wear it just like a watch (on either arm) with the sensor/mickey head being the face of the watch?

I doesn't look like it would be hard that way to tap the sensors together.

Or am I missing something completely? :p

I wore mine on my left wrist just like I would a watch. Let me just say that it does not matter if mickeys head is right side up, upside down or backwards. I regularly went through the gates with a stroller pushing one hand, scanned with the left hand , ID'd with my finger, and never had an issue. You just need to touch mickeys on your band directly to the Mickey at the fast pass gates or entrances. Our door was a little more finicky. You need to have your Mikey smack dab on the sensor which is small, or it wouldn't light up and open the door. Turnstile lights are on both the left and right in groups of two, so you can wear your band on whatever side is comfy. I wore mine in torrential rain, high heat, and even the pool. They worked well, and never failed us. I was so worried I would hate wearing that band, but I loved not having a room key/ticket to dig for!!!

I wear mine with Mickey on the inside of my wrist on my right hand, and always go for the sensor on the left side of any entrance, I've had no problems this way. My DS wore his opposite mine so we were always able to enter side by side, him going to the right post, me to the left. Easy peasy.

I never had a problem with mine. I wore it on my left arm in place of my watch, with the Mickey head facing up. I used my right index finger for the scan at the park entrance, and tried to angle myself toward the left side FP post, but even if the left side people were being stupid and I needed to use the right side one, it wasn't a problem. Even the 10 pounds of glitter I had on it didn't make a difference. :)

The turnstiles were not an issue at all. The problems we had were when paying for things at a service till as the machines are on the counter and they were not easy to tap on.
I will say though that my band/mickey head did slip back to central whenever I moved it to the side. I thought it would make it easier for me to use but it just would not stay put.....

If we had them posted to use I would try the flattening thing but as we are UKers we get them when we check in. Maybe overnight would do it under the mattress. LOL

Honestly it wasn't really an issue at all, unless you can't move your wrist at all.

Like I said it's not a big deal I was just intereted what other people thought. :thumbsup2

The other thing is you don't have to wear the band on your wrist at all. That's just an option. You can just tuck it in a pocket or put it on your backpack or wear it around your neck on a strap. The only thing the MagicBand gives you is an option to wear around your wrist. Other than that, you can do whatever you want with it.

I found it slightly awkward, mostly for getting into our room and paying for things at a counter. I had to turn my wrist in a weird way or take the band off. Like you said, it wasn't a big deal but it was something I noticed throughout our trip.

I also found it awkward - and uncomfortable. I hate things on my wrist - I wish they made it available on a laynard or pin with the Mickey on retractable cord (much like those that are available for office key cards).
It was awkward as previously posted for getting into the room and paying for things and also when I was directed to a post that was on the other side of the hand that I had mine on. I also wore mine loose, hating things on my wrist, and the Mickey head would keep twisting around to the side of my wrist which caused me to have to twist my hand to get the Mickey lined up.
I also hate the fact that I now have a white band around my wrist since that part didn't get any sun. :)
