Magic Band ? purchased and is "invalid" ID?

I purchased a Castle Magic Band last month from the Emporium. I am just now trying to link it so I can use it on my trip next month.
But it keeps telling me "invalid ID" ???
Anyone else have issues? Who should I call? Or do I have to wait till I go down and have them link it?

You'll have to wait and do it in person. Sounds like they didn't set this up for "link it later"

Don't the "specialty" MBs need to be linked by a CM at that time of purchase?

(Regardless, the band can be linked at WDW after you arrive.)

Not anymore. All MBs can be purchased in the "link it later" mode.
 
Are you using the ID # on the underside of the MB?
Yes, and when I purchased it he asked if I wanted it linked then or later. I said later, so he said it should be fine to link later on MDE. I didn't realize at the time he had to "set it up for link it later"?! He even told me it should be fine to link. Oh well, guess I have to wait then. Will they ask for my receipt? Do I have to go to Guest Relations? Or just one of the stores?

I would try linking it through the app or website - try both. My DD just linked her Sorcerer Mickey MB that she received for Christmas and had no problems.

If you are staying onsite, the front desk should be able to link it for you. Or, Guest Relations at any park or DTD.
 
I've had issues with one that was supposed to be set up for link it later. It kept saying invalid ID. I Was told by a CM that it was in fact setup incorrectly.
 
Yes, some of the CM's don't realize that they need to actually set the bands to "link it later" mode before they give it to you. This happened to me a few months back. I went to Guest Services about not being able to link it and they thought I stole them.... until I showed them the receipt to prove that I bought them!

Some CM's are very under trained. Be careful and make sure they ALWAYS set it to "link it later" mode with their little iPhone devices they have.

I know CM's were caught just selling the bands like that at the Flower & Garden Festival just a few days ago! Disney need to work on their training.
