I'd like to put a set amount of $$ my 2 kids can use with their magic bands. Is this possible?

Each kid gets $50 to spend at Disney. DS is 11, DD is 8. I'd prefer their bands work til they hit the limit and then stop working. If not, will the bill show which magic band was used to make each purchase so I could track it myself? Will they allow DD8 to charge at all?

Thanks!!!

A $50 Disney gift card for each child will work. Real-time balance can be checked using the Disney Gift Card app.

Each child can have charging privileges on their MBs but you will likely have to make this change at the front desk (I end up having to for my DD16 on every trip, even though I called ahead last time and asked that she have it on her band). I don't believe you can set a specific spending limit on them, but you can get an itemized bill showing who purchased what, when and where. Note that each room will have a set limit based on the hotel category you're staying at. I believe the limits are $500 at Values, $1000 for Moderates and $1500 for Deluxe. After the limit has been reached (and sometimes before from what I've heard) they will charge your credit card and the limit will start over.

For your situation, I would agree with PP that gift cards might work best, although there's the risk of them losing the card. When I went that route years ago with my daughter I made sure I had the card's ID # written down in case she lost it.

Thanks for clearing up what my options are! I'll ask the kids if they want to use their magic bands or a gift card. As long as I have proof of what they spent in the end, I'm open to either way.
Thanks,
D
