Magic Band and NE ticket Question

Sorry for my endless questions, I have not been to WDW since all of these changes.

I added my family's NE tickets in MDE yesterday and chose our magic band colors. Does that mean that those NE tickets are only useable on the magic bands now and the actual paper tickets are essentially voided?

I'm concerned about the remaining days left after the upcoming trip and want to make sure they aren't lost. I don't have faith in the magic bands working a few years down the line.

Has anyone dealt with this yet, how did you ensure your remaining ticket days are saved?

Thank you.

The NE tickets remain in your MDE account. The MagicBands provide the link to your MDE account at entrance and Fp+ tapstiles. Nothing is stored on MagicBands and they have no effect on your linked tickets.

Aha, that is good to know. :)

Now I have another question. We also have 5 day park hoppers for a different trip. Do I have to remove the NE tickets in MDE and then add the other tickets for that trip? What happens to the NE tickets then, are those days then back on the old paper tickets? If you can't remove the old tickets and add the new tickets how does the system know which ticket to use?

I feel like you have to be an IT genius to go to Disney these days. :rotfl:

You can link the Parkhoppers. If you want to prioritize the order in which they are used, Guest Relations can do that for you. If you switch back and forth between the two, that will mean you will be at Guest Relations a lot. The other thing you can do is link the Parkhoppers and use the plastic Parkhoppers at the entrance tapstiles and that way nothing gets deducted from your NE ticket entitlements. At the Fp+ tapstiles, you can continue to use your MagicBand to access your Fp+.

We'll be using the NE tickets for our upcoming trip and the regular park hoppers on a different vacation later in the year. The NE tickets won't be used again on another trip for probably two years.

The park hoppers are also not the plastic cards, they are the old paper tickets from a couple of years ago.

My goal is to avoid guest relations but that is seeming less and less likely. :headache:

What you could do is set up a separate MDE for the Parkhoppers. Convert them to plastic when you are there and they will be good to go for that second trip.

Aha, a stealth MDE account. I will do that, seems much easier. :thumbsup2

And, you can schedule Fp+ for those Parkhoppers, don't use the tickets to enter the parks but they can be used at the Fp+ tapstiles to access the Fp+ data! But with all the changes to Fp+, you may not feel the need to do that. ;)

The possibilities are endless. :rotfl:

Now to figure out where we will want to eat 6 months from now before ds wakes up from his nap. :surfweb:

I strongly recommend getting RFID plastic tickets for your NE tickets as well as putting them on your MB. DH had 5 days left on a 10 day NE ticket linked to his MB for our Nov trip (he had converted the paper ticket to RFID ticket before linking it). I had a few days left on my AP linked to my MB. He only used 3 days of his 5. We had no problems entering the parks or using FP+ those days.
For our Jan trip he had 2 days left and I linked new 10 day NE tickets (I only had the paper) for both DD and I. We had no problem making FP+s on MDEx before our trip.
First day at MK for opening (we rushed to be there early with a 2yo) and neither his MB nor my MB would read at entry. DDs MB worked fine. They insisted we did not have tickets linked. He pulled out his RFID ticket and used that to enter. I, however, was forced to leave the entry line and go stand in the Guest Services line to have them check my MB. They found my ticket (fortunately I had taken copies of it) and fixed the MB link.

On my way out I went to Guest Services with DH to fix his MB and they could not find his ticket even there. They kept insisting there was no ticket on the acct even though he had used it in Nov and again to enter that morning. I was even able to pull it up and show it to them on my phone while they were unable to see it on their screens.:confused3 The CM was shocked and confused. They wanted me to go to yet another guest services center and wait in a 3rd line that day. We decided we would just use the RFID ticket to enter the next day and did that with no problem.
FP+ worked for us only about 50% of the time in Jan.
So long story short, that is why I recommend taking the time to get the RFID back up ticket for your paper ticket and also carry that with you to the parks. Apparently even 600+$$ tickets can disappear from your account in this new virtual WDW world.:faint:

Oh thank, I will definitely do that. We may just go to DTD on our arrival day, do you know if Guest Services there can help me with changing the paper tickets to the plastic ones?

Yes, you can do it at either location.
