Magic as Wide as a smile!10/28 Trip Report Link!!!!

Melissa -

I started commenting on your updates last night and I fell asleep. Can you believe it????? :rotfl2: I love your wishes photos. They are beautiful. Where you freezing your hands off every time you took a picture!
:lmao: to the bubble bath! I bet that was hysterical! OMG! First you froze your butt off, then you got covered in bubbles. I guess it could have been worse. Imagine if you ran the jacuzzi and then walked away for awhile. The whole bathroom might be covered in bubbles!!!!!

:lmao: Are you saying I put you to sleep? ;) :rotfl2:

Thanks for the compliment on the pictures! I'm so happy with how they came out! My hands would have been freezing but I had my very warm fleece gloves on! Believe me, I need them!

:rotfl2: I still can't get over the bubble bath fiasco! I learned a valuable lesson! I will enjoy a nice soak in the jacuzzi tub in Oct, without bubble bath ;)!! :rotfl2:

I have so much to update you on I’m not even sure where to start! Hopefully this post doesn’t come out all jumbled! If it does, I apologize! Please bear with me!

I’m going to go in order of when things happened so I don’t give myself, or anyone else, a headache!

1st, I mentioned that Disney changed the online ADR system a little last week, right? Well Saturday morning I was up super early and decided to play around to make sure I knew how everything worked for ADR day for our December trip (which was yesterday!)

I played for a few minutes using the date for our October trip. I played and played and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a…..

Le Cellier reservation for the day I wanted!

How did that happen?! Well, I don’t really care! I snagged that puppy up with on a nano-second of thought!

So, DH and I are having lunch at Le Cellier on 10/19 at 2:45! Which is an absolutely perfect time for us! The only minor snafu is that there is a different lunch menu then dinner! So I won’t be having one of my favorite things, Le Cellier Salt Rubbed Prime Rib! BUT the appetizers are the same! So, I can still have another one of my favorites, Le Cellier Tomato Stack!!! DDP be darned! I’ll pay out of pocket for a tomato stack!!!!

With Disney Magic on my side I hemmed and hawed over our SSR reservation.

Should I waitlist Kidani? I truly LOVE my DVC home. Actually, LOVE may not be the right word! Adore, enamored with, enchanted by, long for, those might be better descriptions of my feelings, LOL!

I had kinda given up on the idea of Boardwalk. We’ll stay there another time. I really didn’t think I’d get a reservation at an Epcot resort during F&W.

There was one other option that would make me happy.

So, I called DVC MS shortly after 9 am, when they open. I spoke to a lovely gentleman who informed me that the only availability at Kidani was a standard view for the 18th, 19th and 20th. Nothing the 21st but I could switch resorts for that night.

Then I asked him about my other option, I figured it was doable. It was! So I went for it!!!

Wanna know what it was?

Do ya?

Do ya, really?

I added a night!!!

Yes, I did!!!

So, our trip is now October 18th – 23rd!!! I also put in a request for a DTD view!

So, we’re sticking with SSR and I’m completely at peace with that!

This way we get more the 24 hours more and I don’t have to worry about what to do with the day of MNSSHP! That will be resting, DTD and then MNSSHP!!!

I also added an ADR! Friday the 22nd will now be AK day and we will be having lunch at Yak and Yeti at 1 pm!

I’m very excited about Yak and Yeti! We’ve never been there before! The menu looks great!

I changed our flight and it worked out very well! Our new flight home on the 23rd doesn’t take off until 7:20 pm! So we have lots of extra time!!! I’m also really glad I changed it when I did! It went up $20 a ticket since Saturday!

We will be paying cash for the night of the 22nd so I was going to cancel the rental car to offset the cost. But when I looked at the rental car site adding the extra day to our reservation is less then $3! I can’t pass that up! I know nothing about renting a car, we’ve only done it once before and that wasn’t at WDW. But, I can’t imagine passing that up.

So, I have an extra night and am so excited!!!!!! Yipppeeee!!!!!

So, so, so excited!

moving to next post...

Moving on to yesterday!

Yesterday was ADR day for our December trip!

I went into it with a plan, of course. Really, being chief planner extraordinaire for 10 people isn’t always easy.

Our trip this past January was pretty easy to plan for because I had full rein to tell everyone where we were going and when. No problem and everyone agreed!

This is different, very different! 10 people. Us, MIL, FIL, SIL and her DH, their little one.

We’ve been to WDW together before. Our first trip with the kids was all of us minus Ryan and SIL’s little one and it was wonderful. Of course we rarely saw SIL and BIL, much to MIL’s dismay and annoyance. We had a fabulous travel agent to help us plan that trip and we kind of went with what she said for ADR’s, Chef Mickey’s, CRT, Crystal Palace etc.

08 included all of us with the addition of Ryan this time I was the planner because the travel agent had kind of crapped out on us in the mean time! I got rave reviews on everything I planned.

But planning for different peoples needs, tastes, etc, etc can be migraine inducing! FIL, whom I love and adore, can be very picky and rarely ventures outside of his traditional Irish meat and potatoes. BIL is a little, for lack of a better word, weird. He wants nothing to do with any dinner shows etc. Nothing to kitschy. He’s not very big on Family gatherings, which is why they’ll be staying in a different room then us instead of getting a grand villa. It works out better for us that way! A 2 bedroom for us, MIL and FIL and a studio for them is less DVC points! Going on vacation together is a stretch for BIL. Truthfully, I’m not even sure why he does it!

Whatever, we don’t have to eat together all the time and we surely don’t have to stay together all the time. I showed all the plans to MIL and SIL. SIL opted out of a few for them and I offered to make other arrangements for them. But she declined. MIL was good with everything because I tried really hard to plan around FIL with his pickiness, mostly old favs and buffets, FIL LOVES buffets!

So, I planned everything out, made my excel spreadsheet and set my alarm bright and early!

A little bit after 5 yesterday morning I hear DH saying “Melis, are you awake?” Um, no! I say “What?” He says “It’s starting to get light out and I know you wanted to get up early to make our Disney reservations” Awwww, thanks honey! But, it’s still too early!

I lay there for a little while and then got up. I made my coffee, I was going to need it, and sat with my laptop!

Shortly before 6 I started playing and much to my surprise I was able to start making the reservations!

I thought the online reservations didn’t open up until 6 exactly!

I made our first reservation for Saturday, 12/4, Chef Mickey’s for dinner here we come!

I moved on to Sunday, 12/5, stupid me! I was trying for Le Cellier for all 10 of us! Ha! No luck! Boo!

I skipped Sunday and moved on to Monday, 12/6 figuring on a Fantasmic dinner package I booked Mama Melrose for all 10 of us. FIL wasn’t to keen on Mama Melrose but they want to do the Fantasmic package. We did Hollywood and Vine once and really could have done without it, SIL didn’t want to try Brown Derby. So we’ll be off to Mama Melrose on 12/6.

Moving onto Tuesday, 12/7! This was night I wanted to do Hoop De Doo! We have fabulous memories at HDD!!! FIL loves this place!!!! So I tried to make our reservation for 7 ( no SIL, BIL or little one) and the system kept kicking it out! I kept getting and error message!! Are you kidding?!

So I moved on again! Wednesday, 12/8! 2 reservations for this day! Donald’s Breakfast, which we love, and Boma! I didn’t tell DH we’re doing Boma, he really didn’t enjoy it in January! But, that was a must for SIL and BIL! With those booked I moved again!

Thursday, 12/9! I already purchased out MVMCP tickets and we’ll going on 12/9!!! So, I wanted an earlish dinner in MK! Crystal Palace here we come!!! This is kind of a tradition for us now! In fact it was the first meal DD and DS7 ever ate in WDW! I’ll never forget their very first Pooh hugs!

Then I moved onto 12/10! Biergarten 7 people (no SIL, BIL or little) The kiddos love this place as does FIL & DH! Me and MIL, not so much! The atmosphere is great and the kids have a blast but the food isn’t our cup of tea! Oh well!

2 more to go!

I moved onto Saturday, 12/11, CRT here we come! But wait! The system kept kicking that out at me as well!!! Really?! Are you kidding?!

So I moved on to 12/12! SIL, BIL and little will be leaving for home on 12/11. Usually we leave on Saturday but this trip I decided to stay an extra night for purely selfish reasons! I feel like I have to end a trip with Wishes the night before we leave. 12/10 is MVMCP again, so we can’t! Anyway, I made a reservation so DS7 can meet the Mad Hatter at 1900 Park Fare!!!! He’ll be very excited!

I finished up online but still had 3 reservations I needed! Ugh!

I quick hopped in the shower and got myself semi together. I grabbed the phone right at 7 and called! But I got a message that said “Due to higher then normal call volume your estimated wait is longer then 30 minutes” UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!

So I walked around with the phone on my ear forever! I got the kids up, got them breakfast, etc, etc with Disney dining hold music playing in my ear! It’s Disney music but it’s constantly breaking up and then that guy comes on to tell me things!

After 38 minutes I finally got a person! Yippeeee!!!

She confirmed for me that they were no Le Cellier reservation for 12/5, in fact there were no ADR’s at Le Cellier for the entire length of our stay except for 12/10 at 8:45 pm! No thanks! Too late with the kiddos!

She was able to make our HDD and CRT ADR’s though! Yippeee!

Then I asked her about booking DD’s BBB sitting for me, she was going to do it but somehow disconnected me!!! UGH!!!

So, I got the kiddos ready and off to school! When they were on their way I called the style line booked DD’s BBB for before MVMCP!

Then I got to thinking about Le Cellier and what to do! I had an idea, not sure if it’s brilliant or not.

I got onto the dining site and changed our Biergarten ADR from 12/10 to 12/5 and booked Raglan Roads for 12/10. I think Raglan Roads will make FIL and DH happy and we’ll have a night at DTD!

I think I got everything squared away! Phew!

Be back again soon with another TR update!

** PS! To those Dis friends who I still haven't caught up with on TR's or PTR's I'm working on it! I promise! I'm trying to go one at a time so I don't confuse myself!**

That is so serious major planning you got done with all those ADRs. Nice work - you and DH got Le Cellier. That's awesome.

You're lucky to be going back so soon in December. Are you staying in a grand villa all those nights???WOWSA. So cool that you were able to get all your ADRs except Le Cellier.

I think my head is still spinning from all the planning! I'm so super excited about Le Cellier!

Going in Oct and then again in Dec will be so much fun! I'm so spoiled! :rolleyes1 No Grand Villa! BIL wouldn't stay with us! :rotfl2: It actually works out better because a 2 bedroom for us, MIL and FIL and a studio for SIL and BIL was less points!

All of your plans sound great. That's tough with all those people to make ADRs for. Good job!

I love your wishes pics. The fireworks look stunning

oh wow! I'm dizzy, that's what happens when I get totally behind and miss not one, not 2 but 3 updates!

In order (I think)

Dec TR - MAN you guys look cold but your pictures are fabulous!
Oct Trip - YAY for extra nights! No waitlisting?
Dec Trip - I hear you on planning for a large group, it can be headache inducing. Sounds like you did a great job. Very nice of you to use yoru points for both rooms, wow! Raglan Road sounds perfect for your FIL. We are going there our first night and I'm really looking forward to it!

Whew. You are a planning pro!

I think all of your ADRs sound great for December.

I'm excited that you added a night for you and DH! It's going to be a great trip for the both of you. :goodvibes

:woohoo: Great ADR's Melissa!! We can all appreciate the hard work and hours thinking that go into making ADR's ;)
:yay: for adding on an extra day in October....especially since that is the day I get there!! I think my flight lands around 12:30....:goodvibes I hear you on the AKV too....it's not for everyone but I absolutely adore it. I have stayed at both the BC and BW but not DVC.....loved them both especially location but still there is something with AKV that just keeps drawing me back in!! Happy that you got Le Cellier too...I booked myself for a late lunch too.

These are the days our trips are overlapping......

I made our first reservation for Saturday, 12/4, Chef Mickey’s for dinner here we come!

We're at MK that day.... any chance you're there too?

I moved on to Sunday, 12/5, stupid me! I was trying for Le Cellier for all 10 of us! Ha! No luck! Boo!

We're at Epcot this day too!!

So we’ll be off to Mama Melrose on 12/6.

No match here. :sad1:

I got onto the dining site and changed our Biergarten ADR from 12/10 to 12/5 and booked Raglan Roads for 12/10.

I love that we can mess around with this on line dining and tweak our plans so easily. Hope we can hook up this day somehow!

I was dizzy too! Of course, sometimes that's a natural state for me ;)

We were FREEZING that night! FREEZING!!! We would have gone back to the room after dinner if it hadn't been for the 1st timers!

 for the extra night! I'm so excited!!! I'm not going to waitlist. I'm happy with what I have with the extra night! I don't want to do anything risky! That's not to say I won't cal DVC member service 952 time between now and Oct to see if anything opened up at Kidani ;)

I know you definitely feel my large group planning pain :lmao: But, it will be fabulous in the end! I'm interested to hear how you guys like Raglan Road! I kind of did that one blind and only looked briefly at the menu before I booked it!

Thanks! In the end, once our bellies are full of yummy Disney Food, it will all be worth it!

I thought that was the day you arrive!!!!! Our plane doesn't leave until 7:20 that evening! We'll probably leave directly from the parks around 5ish! We have to see if a meet is possible, all be it brief!

I'm soooooo in love with Kidani! It really is home! :cloud9: I mean really, what more could you ask for?!

I'm so happy I found that Le Cellier ADR, especially without one in Dec!

I was happy with what I got for Dec! You can't have everything, right?

I'm so excited about Oct! That extra night is going to be soooo nice!

I can't wait for a yummy meal at Le Cellier!!!

Hi! I followed your trip link in your sig from your post on my TR.

Lucky you---two trips so close together! :) We went in Dec., March, and May, and let me tell you I am having some major post-Disney withdrawls now, with no trip on the horizon! I'll have to live through all of the TRs on the DIS!

Now onto day 3!

We found ourselves up early because we were headed to an 8:25 am Reservation at Tusker House for Breakfast with Donald!

We were up and out really easily, which was a theme for the week. I would get up, sneak into the kitchen, because DD, DS7 and Justin were all asleep in the living room, turn on the coffee pit, which I had set up the night before, I would notice that Jen was in the bathroom in their bedroom getting ready and most of the time one or both of the girls were milling about behind their Mom or in the bathroom in the hall. I’d hop in the shower and by the time I came out everyone was up! A lot of times DD and DS7 were dressed! That’s a benefit of packing the kids clothes in big Ziplocs bag! I’d pull out the right bags the night before and put them on the dresser in our bedroom. DD and DS7 would go in, grab their bag and get dressed! A little OCD, yes! But, it worked!

We were soon bundled up again and headed to the bus stop! We waited only a few minutes for a nearly empty bus and headed off to AK!

We were soon on out way into AK!

But we needed to stop and resolve some ticket issues! I had been having a ton of trouble with my AP not working and had decided it was time to get a new one! It was just a giant pain in the butt! The CM who helped us in guest services was super nice! Super, duper nice! He really helped us start off the day on a good note! DH decided to get a new AP as well because his had been a little glitchy as well. Turns out the AP’s are notorious for problems!

The kiddos decided they wanted to do some pin trading. The guy says hold on a second and pulls out a GIANT binder full of pins and helps the kids pick out exactly what they want! WOW! Super nice!

After our AP issues were resolved and the kids had all traded some pins we headed into the park and toward Tusker House!

We soon checked in and were headed to Donald!

I must say, I’m not really sure why they bill this as Breakfast with Donald. You get like 20 seconds with him! The character interaction with Donald is minimal at best and you can’t even get his autograph! The whole “Donald is available for autographs at Camp Minnie- Mickey” thing kinda annoys me! They should really call it breakfast where you briefly get to have your picture taken with Donald and that picture will late cost you $35!

Well, I’m not 100% sure how much the picture costs, I can’t really remember! But ours came our good! Yippeee!

And they did get a nice picture of DD and DS hugging Donald!

Even without much interaction with Donald we really love this meal! The buffet is wonderful, the coffee is to die for, the interaction with the other characters is fantastic!!!

We all got our food and started enjoying it and enjoying each others company during the meal! Although we were once again seated at 2 tables! Back to back but still different tables!

Soon the characters started to arrive! First was Mickey looking fabulous in his safari gear! He had a good time interacting with DD and signing autographs!

Next was Daisy!

Then our friend Goofy came by for a visit!

BIL LOVES Goofy and was so excited to see Goofy! Goofy was going to leave us after he was done with the kiddos but I asked Goofy if he could stay a minute to meet his biggest fan!

BIL was very thankful that I stopped Goofy before he left!

By the time Goofy left we were pretty much done with our meal so it was only a matter of time before we paid got a cup of coffee to go and were on our way!

But I did take a couple of pictures while we waited for the bill!

When the bill was paid we headed out of Tusker House! I, of course, took a couple pictures on the way out!

While DH put Ryan in the stroller we discussed what we wanted to do next! First stop was going to be EE!! Everyone but DH, Jen and Ryan would be riding! Woo Hoo!

The step up of AK still gets be confused and I mention that someone else would have to lead the way. Then I said something about which way was Asia.

Justin said he knew which way to go. Then it happened.

A less then stellar moment for me, a moment I’m not proud of!

I replied to Justin that he had never been there before and didn’t have a map so how did he know which way to go?!

He said that those things maybe true but he could read the sign! There was very clearly a sign pointing the way to Asia! We all burst out laughing and I, of course, apologized to Justin!

Then we followed Justin toward Asia! LOL!

I took a few pictures along the way

Don't they look warm?!

and then noted the quiet! I wondered out loud if EE was running because I didn’t hear the telltale screaming and the rumble of the tracks.

Would get to ride EE? Tune to find out!!!

FYI, I'll be back with a PTR update soon too ;)

Yipppeee! Thanks for joining in!!! You were posting while I was posting my update!

I've become very, very spoiled with all of our trips! I keep promising DH that we'll take a little break but I seem to be able to convince him to add another one! :lmao: We're supposed to be taking 2011 off of trips! We'll see how that goes ;)

Hehehe, love the picture of Justin with the sign to Asia. It's good that you all had a laugh about it. :thumbsup2

Did they recently change Donald not being part of the character rotation at Tusker House? It seems weird, kinda like what they do with the princesses at Akershush and of course Cinderella at CRT. It's weird.

my kids would never go for the ziploc thing but I can see where it would be cool (course now I'm not sure outfits would even always fit) but it definitely works for a lot of folks.

:rotfl: on Justin's comment. that is priceless!!!

Fun morning so far, hope that EE isn't down :scared1:

YAY for adding a night!!! It turns out we are so going to overlap with our trips WOOT!!!

Hmmmm...AK and Tusker House what a great morning!!! Love the pictures it looked like a great breakfast!!!! SO much fun must have been had!!!!!!

Looking forward to more!!

We love the ziploc trick! I even use it for camp and other trips, too. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear if you got to ride EE; I hope so!
