Hellooooo and welcome back! I loved this update and now I'm second guessing my 1900 Park Fare breakfast reservation.

I definitely thing breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is worth a try! DD and went alone together on her birthday during our 08 trip. We really enjoyed to mix of characters! Although she was a little intimidated by the Mad Hatter!

In my last update I mentioned that ADR day for our trip in December is fast approaching! June 7th will be here before I know it! I’m so excited to make the ADR’s for this trip! We’re going to have so much fun!!

But, that maybe getting ahead of myself!!

I mentioned that I’ve recently found myself in kind of a funk. In search of a way to get out of the funk I planned numerous imaginary trips both in my head and on paper.

I planned many trips by myself but then I would decide that I couldn’t see myself going it alone and actually having fun. But, I would forget that after a few days and try again, only to hold back again.

I decided a few times that maybe I would invite someone else along. My other sister or my 2 best friends. Only to have common sense intervene and have me realize there was no way my sis could go because there was no way her DH could take the time off of work for her to go. He would have to take care of their DS, who is a fulltime job, even when he’s in school. My friends, well I wasn’t sure they would able to swing it and would feel terrible for asking and then having them not be able to go.

With my cut off date for taking a trip, before Memorial Day, fast approaching I kinda gave up the idea.

Boo!

I had never planned any of these imaginary trips with DH because at that point I was kinda annoyed and disgusted with him! He’s very, very busy with work and many other things, softball, sailing, work on & with the yacht club we belong to. I don’t mind the work part, but he works a good 60 hours a week. After he was done working he had been doing a very good job of letting all of those other thing get in the way of what really matters and what his most important responsibilities are. I was actually hoping that if I did go away for a few days he might open up his eyes!

But last weekend we had a long talk and I cleared the air. It made me feel a lot better.

Then it occurred to me that perhaps a little get away was still a possibility. It wouldn’t be before Memorial Day. It would have to wait until the fall. I hate being hot!!!

But we had the DVC points! I also really wanted to go to the Food and Wine Festival without the kiddos! I secretly looked at dates, ADR’s, MNSSHP dates etc.

But I was afraid he’d shoot me down! We did just go away without the kids in March. But that trip didn’t go as planned! We had a good time but DH’s plan for me to relax on the beach while he sailed was derailed by freezing cold, torrential rain, a crappy over priced hotel room and, once the sun finally came out, a terrible sun burn all over me!!!


But, I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask him. Although I would have been a little upset if he said no

I approached him cautiously and asked him if he wanted to go on away for a few days in the fall, just the 2 of us. He seemed very interested and asked where I wanted to go.

As if he had to ask!!!

I reminded him we had some points left and that I wanted to do the Food and Wine Festival without the kiddos.

He said he maybe interested and would think about it.

UGH! Sometimes it’s bad when we thinks!!!

I knew what he would be think most about is the money. How much is it going to cost. So I ran my numbers. Airfare, dining, MNSSHP tickets etc.

I asked him again on Tuesday and he asked “how much do you think it’s going to cost?” Aren’t I smart?! I reminded him that we didn’t need to cover hotel costs with our DVC points and our Annual Passes are still good until the end of October.

His eyes got big. The kinda big that tells me “I like what you’re saying, keep going!” I presented him with the dollar number and I also let him know that I had almost ½ of the amount saved. I’ve been doing a little bit of business on ebay and etsy and have been saving all the $$ to be “Funny Money”

I held my breath and he said YES!!!

Of course we still had to run the idea past Grandma. Would she take care of the kiddos for us?!

I asked Wednesday morning, already knowing what the answer would be! YES!! I have the best MIL in the entire world!!!

So I spent Wednesday planning!!!!

I thought I commented on your last post and the great character interaction you had......but maybe I only read about it and never commented. I am still in NY for the soccer tournament and we should be leaving any minute for the final game. Actually, we should have left already - we are going to be late....but not my fault. I am just killing time while waiting for my companions!

We had a fabulous time at 1900 PF! I think the stepsisters would love your boys That would be a lot of fun!!!

Those points and the AP's were burning a hole in my pocket!!!! I really wanted to get a good use our of the AP's! We used them for our trip in Oct of 09 and for Jan. So that was 5 days in Oct and 8 in Jan. 13 days is pretty good I guess but 17 days on the adults AP's is way better

So, with a trip in Oct and a trip in Dec cool1:) this TR will now be a TR/PTR combo!!! I may, at some point, end up separating it. But for now I'm going o keep it simple and do only one report. I may end up coloring coding as I've done in the past, but we shall see how everything works out!

This update is going to be PTR! PTR for Oct!!!!

Ahhh, planning!!!


This installment could easily be titled “how to plan a trip to Disney World in a morning!”


A head spinning, headache inducing, crazy morning!


Once I got the go ahead from MIL I was on the phone with DVC member services in a flash!


From having planned the trip in my head I knew basically what I wanted. October 18th – 22nd, I would love to stay at Boardwalk, if not Kidani, if not Beach Club… DH was adamant that we had to have 1 bedroom! He’s really loving the space of DVC! I was ok with that because with a 1 bedroom I got my beloved Jacuzzi tub !


The girl at DVC MS was very helpful. There was no availability at Boardwalk for the 18th – 22nd. Boo! I could have a few days there in the middle of the week, just not the whole trip. Boo again! I really didn’t want to switch resorts twice so we moved on.

Not available the whole trip seemed to be a theme! We could stay here or there for a few nights but nothing was available for the whole 4 nights! Ugh! Boo! Cry!

The only thing that was available was SSR. Hmmmmm, we stayed at SSR last Oct and it was lovely but I wasn’t sure I really wanted to stay there again! Only because we had stayed there. I really wanted to try something new on for size! But booking SSR would get us on vacation to WDW so why not?!

I was still a little hesitant and had the girl check the week before Oct 11th – 15th. We could be flexible! But it was the same thing over again! Here or there for these not’s but not those! UGH! Of course SSR was available! I think DVC members aren’t showing a lot of SSR love!

I even had her check studios, I could work on DH later. Nothing, just SSR.

At that point I was highly confused!!! I told the girl I would think about what to do and call back! I needed to review all the info I had scribbled down while I was talking to her!


I briefly mulled over my options. Hmmm! Really, the only option was SSR.

So I called back and booked a 1 bedroom at SSR for October 18th – 22nd!!!!

Then it was on to ADR’s!

Handy dandy online system here I come!


Ahh, but not so fast! They recently changed the system. When I say recently I mean like over night Tuesday night. I had looked Tuesday and it was the way it used to be, Wednesday it was different.

The new system didn’t seem to like me! I tried for like an hour to book an ADR at Chef Mickey’s for out first night. But every time I tried I would have to log in again. Then when I was logged in I got message that said I had been idle for too long! I wasn’t idle! I was trying to get your dumb system to work!

So I called DVC member service to make the ADR’s. I got a very nice guy on the phone who said “Did you know you can make your dining arrangements online…” DVC MS has a record message that says that while you’re on hold too. When I heard it while I was on hold I said out loud “NO I CAN’T!” and now this dude is telling me too. I said, “Ummm, yeah I knew that but the system isn’t working.” He mentioned that they had just changed it to make searching easier, which they did. I explained to him what had happened and told him that was why I was calling him.

On with ADR making!

Not so fast silly girl!

The MS guy says, “Are you going to be adding the DDP?” I say “ I did when I made the reservation an hour ago” MS guy says “Oh…………………………..”

Then there was dead silence except for his keyboard clicking.

He finally starts talking again and says he can see that I have the DDP but it isn’t downloading into his system for the reservations.

Ok!

He fiddles around and I hear him click on the keyboard again and then he asks if he can put me on hold. Ok.

5 minutes later he comes back! UGH!

Dining arrangements can now be made, keep your fingers crossed!

So I started with my list…

Our arrival day 10/18, a 5 :30ish ADR at...



I figure we’re going to be tired and may want to head back to the resort after that, if not, we can head to Epcot because MNSSHP is that night! Got that ADR!!!

10/19 will be Food and Wine fun!!!! So I tired for an ADR at Le Cellier. I knew I wasn’t going to get it but I had to try. No luck!

So, I got a 4:30 ADR at



San Angel! But I wasn’t really sure about this ADR. I’m not sure DH would be happy with the menu. He tends to be picky and not adventurous! So, I decided to cancel it the other day! I'm going with no ADR and lot of F&W fun! If need be we can grab a CS meal or take a break and head to Beaches and Cream!


10/20 will likely be our DHS day but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to eat at one of favorite restaurants ever!!

I bet MEK knows what I’m talking about!!



Narcoossee’s!!!! DH and I had one of the best meals ever at Narcoossee’s in 09 and I have to go back!

I won’t be eating what MEK’s DH Denny ordered though. It looked something like the guy on the right



10/21 will be our AK morning, rest then hopefully a long night of fun at MNSSHP! I wasn't going to make an ADR because I figured we would go to MK between 4 and 5 and get into the MNSSHP mood. But when I cancel San Angel I decided to try something new the night of MNSSHP...



Our ADR is for 4:30. I think that will workout well! We've never been here before!

10/22 our departure day! I made an 8:30 am ADR at...




But I cancelled that when I cancelled San Angel.

There is no way we’re going to want to get up that early, have bell service come for our bags and then take a bus to MK and a monorail to Poly. Not after a night of MNSSHP fun! Not to mention, DH will be heartbroken if he doesn’t get at least 1 Main Street Bakery cinnamon roll for breakfast during the trip!

All done with ADR’s! For now…

I quick put everything into my handy dandy excel spreadsheet and then headed for Southwest’s website! I knew what flights I wanted to take from having planned the whole trip imaginarily and I knew the tickets were $95 each way the day before, pretty good!

So booked us a 7 am flight 10/18 that will have us at MCO at 9:35 am! I booked a 6:05 pm flight home that will have us in Long Island at 8:35 pm!

Then it was back on the phone to MS! Not sure why I didn’t do this when I booked the room or made the ADR’s! I suppose I was working on one thing at a time! But, our MNSSHP tickets where purchased and will be waiting for us at MK when we get there!!! Yippeee!!


Phew!!! Our trip to WDW has been planned! But will there be changes?​
