Cozumel Wednesday
Upon waking up and going to get some coffee, I noticed a card on the stateroom mail holder. It was a very nice note from Carita thanking us for our visit to Palos and wishes for many more happy anniversaries. A very nice Disney touch! Well the plan for the day was to get off the ship, walk up to the Ferry terminal, tae ferry over to Playa Del Carmen, rent a car and go to Tulum, Xel-Ha and then do some shopping. We had no problems getting off the ship and walking the half-mile or so to the ferry, however, when we got to the terminal we were told that Disney would be using the 11AM ferry and the next ferry to leave would be at 1PM. The only ones able to use that ferry were folks going to Playa with a DCL excursion. On to plan B which was to get a cab to Chankanaab. We hailed a cab ($10.00) for the four of us) and headed off to Chank. Admission to the park was $10.00 each. The park was very nice, good snorkeling, a good dive trail, nice grounds, cute huts, lame chairs, good drinks, clean beach with rocky shore line, showers and an overall nice place. We stayed till about 2PM and then headed back to the ship. We dropped of the dive and snorkel gear, took a shower, changed and went back into town. Joanne wanted to get some nail polish that changes colors in the sun and some other stuff. We found the town to be ok, but the shop owners were not as pushy as those in Cancun or other places on other islands. We stopped by Carlos and Charlies, hopping as it is, it is not as good as the old place. I kind of liked watching the folks negotiate the stairway down in the old place! We finished our shopping trip and headed back to the ship to watch The Rookie at 5:30. After being in the sun all day the theater was downright cold. Should really have brought a blanket!. After the movie we got ready for Mexcalifragilisticexpalidocious night!. We went down to dinner and ordered appetizers at which point I did not feel very well and ordered some chicken noodle soup and just drank the broth then went back to the room feeling very nauseous and clammy. I went right to bed and soon after had a serious bout with the Porcelain God. I went back to bed and slept till morning at which time I felt fine. Just a 24 hour virus, or the lack of water, too much sun or ingestion of salt while diving and snorkeling, but nothing really serious enough to call an epidemic. Joanne stayed for dinner and our waiter Jeevan wanted to send something up to the room for me but Joanne told him I would not eat and not waste it! He was very sorry and really wanted to help but it really would have been in Vain! Joanne enjoyed the dinner and the Mariachi Band but felt more could have been done (more on that later).
At Sea Thursday
Today was a good day on the ship! Had some sun time, relaxing time reading a book and SPA Day. Brian and Jacquie went to Tea with Wendy and then the Spa and enjoyed both.
Lunch at Topsiders was awesome. Seafood buffet with huge shrimp, stone crab claws and sushi. For the most part everything was very, very good. We had our visit to the Sureal Spa which was interesting. The exfoliates that dropped on the floor tickled your feet and the steam room was downright hot. The body emollients were terrific and when finished we felt the cost was worth the visit. We were daring, for as we left the room we noticed the door was not locked, seems I am always forgetting something! Nothing else to report here (enough said)! We then went to the future cruise briefing and reserved a cruise for next may, Eastern this time. When we went back to the room for a nap we noticed another note on the mail holder. This one was from Zita, thanking us for our visit to Palos Monday Brunch. We went to see Hercules which was cute but you have to know Disney to really understand this I think? We then got ready for the Captains gala. Since we were early we decided to go to Shutters to look at the pictures taken during the week. We snatched a few free cocktails and were off to Shutters. A few words of advice: do not go to the Shutters area between dining times, way too many folks, do not stand in front of display cases with strollers and look at your pictures, do not stand in the middle of doorways and talk about your daily activities, discuss your picture purchases, or how you switched times for Palos Three moms with strollers and four other uncontrollable kids (running and playing hide and seek among the crowd) actually had to be told by the counter folks to move it to the outside and have their meeting! Of course the moms replied that maybe this CM ran out of Pixie Dust and was very un-Disney like. They finally did move but were annoyed that they were asked? Some people . The Captains Gala was very good. I think we had the huge pork chops, and Joanne had a few appetizers with dessert of caramelized cheesecake. When we got finished with dinner it was off to bed. Upon arrival at our room we found another gift in our stateroom. This time it was a picture from our evening at Palos with a note happy anniversary. The picture was in a very nice DCL frame with an adjoining picture of the Magic. There was no other note so we thought it was another gift from Brian and Jacquie? The kid has got to stop spending money?
