I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

For anyone that has YouTubeTV, here's a new promotion that I had not seen anywhere:

Get $10 a month off, go to your account online, click the icon in the upper right, then Settings, click Membership then Manage (the top option). There should be an offer you just have to click on to enable the promo on your account.

This will stack with the Amex offer on YouTubeTV as well, if you have it.
Thank you so much!!!

Been seeing reports the AMEX platinum is getting a refresh, this fall I feel its to take some spotlight away from Chase, In my 20+ years of being into points and miles, this is the first time I've seen them announce something so early to more coupon books. /s
Update heres a link https://www.americanexpress.com/en-...es-major-updates-coming-to-u-s--consumer.html
I bet they dont want to have a cheaper AF than Chase to keep the allure up.

I think it's been awhile since anyone has done award travel in Asia aside from Japan and then not from China. I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything from all I've read in case anyone has seen something.

Don't way to strand anything at Kris flyer but that may be the one option though I'm not sure it makes the most sense.
I understand this way too much. I transferred URs to Singapore Airlines, and then tried to book business class from either JFK or EWR to SIN at the 355 days out. No go for 2 of us! I guess I wasn't quick enough. So I waited and tried again the next day (our dates are kind of flexible, but not totally). Again, could NOT get 2 seats in business for the Saver fare. So I waited a week and tried the very next weekend dates, Saturday and Sunday, and again was not successful. I was trying JFK first, when that didn't pan out I'd check EWR and by then it was already a few minutes into booking window and obviously also EWR was gone. I don't know if from West coast is different, but it seems from East Coast, these SIN award flights are super competitive. We wound up having to just go for Premium Economy, and I have a leftover 62k at Kris Flyer now. We're going to use 27k of them for SIN to Siem Reap, but that still leaves 35k that might get stranded there if I can't find a use. :(

I wish I knew what the changes were going to be. I need to get a new card but no idea what to grab. This might have helped make the decision easier.

Oh, good grief. Why do I think this exciting new change will not benefit me?

Just to confirm if I want to sign up for a CSP and get the bonus, and I currently hold a CSR. I first have to downgrade the CSR to a Freedom, wait a week, then apply for the CSP? Is that right? If I use my current UR points to buy some flights in the portal (and not a transfer), downgrading my CSR will not negatively affect an already in place booking in the portal, right?

I know transfering points to a partner is often times better than booking in the portal, but right now it is far cheaper to use the portal (with the 1.5x) versus to transfer to United.

I would prefer to not do 2 connections to get home which is why I haven't looked out of Vancouver.

I searched aeroplan earlier for end of calendar and there's nothing reasonable in biz. It had EVA but it was mixed with the biz being from Shanghai and economy to Seattle.

We're not flexible on dates, this trip already has me taking off almost 3 weeks, I would rather be back home on Sat than Sun, but that would be the only flexible bit. ABD finishes in Shanghai so it makes most sense to fly from there. There also doesn't seem to be much partner availability that makes it to aeroplan, and now that ANA allows OW booking it'll be worse, it's competing with people trying to get home from Japan.

I'll explore all of my options at 360 days because I can't book dl that early. And maybe it really is a matter of being on when they drop vs just searching end of calendar but even economy wasn't pulling up for most of what I looked for this afternoon.

There's issues with sky team partners not getting as many awards or it's very sporadic. China just seems more difficult than Japan and with the ABD we're stuck with dates etc.

Almost makes me want to look into the emirates flight I saw through Dubai 😂 So far out of the way.
Just searched and found these 2 options from Shanghai to Vancouver for 75k points on June 10, 2026:

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience on EVA Air -- 1 of the best biz class products IMHO.

If there are 2 in your party and Eva doesn't release 2 seats on the same day, I'd think about coming back on back-to-back days. I cannot recall how many award seats Eva releases, but I do know they consistently release award seats.

I can't just leave my friend in China because I want to fly biz back and make her come back a day later. She's never been anywhere in Asia before and she doesn't travel solo like I do. I understand the reasoning and why people do it but I couldn't do it. Maybe if we could both be on the same flight from Shanghai and then split up in Taipei with one going to seattle and one to vancouver. But then who do you inconvience? It's at least an option to talk about.

I'll look at all my options as things open, but I really don't want 2 stops which ends up 3 for her since she lives near Denver.

Just called to PC my CSP to CSR. Was told my AF would be $550, here's hoping that's true when it comes in 2 billing cycles. Going to book a hotel now to use up the $300 travel credit (seems to be going away on the revamped CSR; I would think existing members would still be able to use it until their next AF but I'd rather be safe than sorry).

What I'm not clear on is whether this changes my anniversary date to today or if I keep the old one (was October before)

I just called to PC my CSP to CSR as well. She confirmed that the annual fee was $550, so hoping it is true when I get billed.

ETA: The $300 travel credit shows an expiration of 7/10/26.

I think the $300 will be fine for the first year, then, if one has a CSR before the changes 🤞

I hope we get to double dip by using up both the $300 plus the new coupon book credits during the first year!

I decided to PC a Freedom to the CSR today too. And was told the annual fee would be $550. My travel credit shows an expiration of 7/9/26*; I don't know why it's a day earlier than yours but that's fine. I plan to book a refundable SW ticket. I was going to use the $100 off Chase Travel offer on that card but then noticed I have to do a $600+ transaction for that to take effect so I'll just go with the airfare.

*ETA - I just checked and that card closes on the 9th of the month so that's probably why I have 7/9/26 as the expiry date.

Your travel protections on the day of travel (baggage delay, trip protection, etc.) will be based on the card that you PC to and not on the CSR that you used for booking. So if you downgrade your CSR to a Freedom then you'll only get the travel protections available on the Freedom card on the day of your booked travel. Just something to think about.
