Magic 11/20/04 Thanksgiving Cruisers?

Hello fellow cruisers!

Life may start to calm down around here for me as my class reunion is done.:cool1: I was on the planning committee and if I do say so myself...it went very well!

In addition, things with my sister are coming around...she was able to hire an attorney that can fight for her best interest :jumping4: in this divorce with Can'tSayWhatIReallyWantIsHisName. Her oldest son, was home from the Marines this past week for his best friend's wedding and put the thumb to the younger brother. The two of them really worked and got so much done for their mom. :cheer2: It's good to see them all grown up like...made my sis cry with all they did.

Mel....
I hope all works out that you and EB can at least get some time together away from home. You guys deserve it! :D

All this hurricane stuff is just rotten! A good friend of mine who lives outside of Orlando was grounded last Thursday and couldn't get home for our reunion. I still have a few friends in Pensacola from when I lived there and it looks like they might be the next hit. :worried:

I've been trying to catch up on the DISboards today and read all the posts about CC being hit bad...some folks predict the island may be down for several months. :sad2: I know that others said in the past the ship goes to another destination, but what do you all speculate might happen for our cruise with 2 stops at CC if it is not up and running by Thanksgiving? I know that I should not be whining as one post read since there are thousands of people who have been affected far worse by this than I, but in the last month with everything that has been going on in my life, the cruise is what I keep reminding myself of so I can see that light at the end of the tunnel. So, I'm just curious what MIGHT happen.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend.

Yahoo, I just made our final payment!!!!!!! Now we are set to book our shore excursions Sept. 21, we just need to make our final decisions on those. From what I have been reading Castaway Cay didn't get damaged as much as had originally been feared so hopefully we will still get our 2 stops there. Now we just need to keep praying no more Hurricanes!

Laura I'm glad things are calming down for you and improving for your sister. It sounds like you had quite a stressful time for awhile.

I hope Mel and EB are having a great time at WDW!

That is so funny, we just made our final payment too:bounce:

Hope you all hade a great labor day weekend--only 71 more days to gopirate: :boat: :fish: :thewave:

Thanks Cheryl! Life has slowed down but I'm still not ahead.

I agree about CC...it doesn't seem to have been hit as bad as earlier predicted. When I spoke with my TA on Tuesday, she told me the ships sailing this week were headed there, just didn't know if they would be able to dock. So that gives me reassurance that...provided the weather cooperates...we should get our two glorious days at CC. :Pinkbounc

Well, I'm off to post my reunion updates on the 3 sites we've been using. I still have to get the photos uploaded and think I will go to DH's office where they have a T1 line since it'll be faster.

Hope everyone is enjoying what is left of the weekend!

Hello everyone! EB and I are back from the Wilderness Lodge. It was our first time at this resort and it was very impressive. I am so happy we chose WL for this stay. Although it wasn't a cruise ( ) we still had a very nice time. The crowds were SO MINIMAL...and that was nice. We were able to get on all the rides we wanted multiple times without ever waiting more than 5 or 10 minutes. We got to see Wishes on our first night and Fantasmic two times. Some highlights of dining were dinner at Crystal Palace, lunch at Wolfgang Pucks Cafe, Alfredos, Beaches n' Cream, Boma for dinner and Donald's Breakfastosaurus. NO meals were disappointing and we enjoyed every one!

Thank you all for your well wishes.....I am very sorry that we cancelled our Thanksgiving cruise with you all. This was our 4th trip to Disney in less than a year and we were really looking forward to Palo, REAS, Castaway Cay, snorkeling, etc. We're so sad that we don't have that to look forward to right now.

You all are SOOOOOOOO lucky!!! :sunny:

I am glad you had a good time at WL--didja ride Mission Space? We wish you could go with us also!

Only a few more days before the 60 day mark:sunny:

We made the last payment too (last payment for my mom) since she is treating 11 of us again to the cruise. She loves watching the expressions on the kids' faces as they have a "Magical" time. When she took us in 2001, there was 12 of us, now we are one less deadbeat brother-in-law ! My mom has covered his face (from cruise photo's) with Mickey Mouse's face.

67 days!! The countdown & song continue (change words from 100 bottles of beer on the wall to... 67 days til the Disney Cruise.....)

;) :earsgirl:

ahhhh, Mission Space. Let me preface this by saying how much I love crazy thrill rides. Love them. LOVE Rockin' Rollercoaster.

BUT.....

Mission Space KILLED ME! It made me feel disgustingly ill afterwards! Yikes! I will never ride that one again!!! You couldn't pay me enough to feel like that again. In fact, after we landed on Mars I started praying that we didn't have to return to Earth!!! Phew! LOL

Ugh! HA HA HA!

Howdy Mel!

Glad to hear you got back from safe and sound. From Florida and Mars! I have heard that about Mission Space. I don't do nausea rides very well, myself. Too many old football concussions! If I understand the way the ride works, it simulates G force by spinning you in circles. But you are not supposed to know you are spinning, just feel the G's. Ugh!

Didn't you stay at Wilderness Lodge? was it great as always? We stayed there twice and loved both times. That was before we joined DVC, and the hotel rooms were kinda small. Even the suite we had was small. Next stay there, we will be in a Villa. But the resort itself was terrific.

Mission Space was nauseating....definitely not a ride I will do again. LOL

It was our first time at the Wilderness Lodge and it was absolutely beautiful. I'd definitely stay there again. Gorgeous! We didn't have points left to stay DVC, but we had a standard room with a great view of the pool/lake/geyser. We really enjoyed the amenities of this resort.

Darn RIGHT WERE GETTING READY!

What day can we make reservations? DD wants to ride the banana boat at CC and DW wants to parasail. Is it the 20th or 21st?

Mel I'm glad you had a good time at WDW! Welcome back!

I just booked our excursions for the cruise!!!!!!!! Now we are really getting excited!!!! I had no problems booking them today but when our friends called to book theirs she was told they couldn't book them yet but then when she mentioned that I was able to book ours the DCL CM put her on hold and checked and when she came back she said yes they could book. So I guess it is still the same that the people on the DIS boards know more than some of the CMs taking reservations ;)

We booked the Cozumel Tropical Jeep Safari Tour, the Grand Cayman Island Tour & Snorkeling With Stingrays and on Castaway Cay I booked the Personal Watercraft (jet ski) Tour for DH and DD for our first stop at CC. I didn't even ask anything about wheteher or not we'd be going to Grand Cayman because from what I have been reading DCL isn't really giving anyone a straight answer about when they'll be able to get back there. I figure if the Magic does get back to Grand Cayman before we sail I'll read what others have to say about it and we can always cancel the excursion before we sail and if we don't go there then it would get cnceled anyways. I guess time will tell.

Has anyone else booked their excursions through DCL???

Cheryl :sunny: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Last night when I was double -triple checking on the excursion list with the family (I am calling tomorrow, are you sure these are the ones you want to take?:chat: ) ds12 changed his mind, and we are now all signing up for the Tulum tour::yes:: So we are now doing: ds & dh jet ski on first day of CC, Ds's and I are doing snorkeling with the sting rays in GC, and the Tulum tour in Cozumel.

Cheryl, I am glad you got the excursions you wanted. Has anyone else signed up?

ps--just got off the phone with DCL and they are running a special--rent floats, snorkle gear, or bikes, and get the second stop rentals free:hyper:

Hi! I'm new to this thread and will be on the Thanksgiving Magic with my DH, DD8 (turning 9 on the cruise) and DD11.

I called to book a few excursions today and was told I could book for the first Castaway Cay day but not for the second. The CM said we would have to book onboard for the second stop. Has anyone else heard this news?

I haven't gone back and read all the previous pages but I'm hoping a few of you have kids the same ages as mine!

Welcome! We have a website for our cruise where you can see pics of some of the cruisers..sign up for brunch or tea!

http://www.kings.edu/mfpriebe/cruise/

I did not try to book any excursions for the second day at cc, but they did not ask me which day we wanted to book the jet ski tour, I told them. The only thing they told me about the second day was about the special.

Hello fellow cruisers!

We made that final payment today...what a chunk that was!

silver7,
I, too, need to do that double check with DH and DS so I can schedule the excursions. As it stands, we will be doing the snorkeling and stuff at CC (not sure which day...if we get the second free then we'll just do it both days) and the Tulum Ruins in Cozumel. We had been planning to explore on our own in Grand Cayman, but now we haven't a clue. I suspect we may still make that stop in November, but not sure. When I spoke with TA today, she said the Disney people are telling them to check back for itinneraries through mid October. She keeps checking for us when she is on the line with a CM.

sstucush,
Welcome aboard!:boat: It's always nice to see more names. silver7 is right...go over and check out the website for our cruise. Mel has done an awesome job keeping it for us, even after she jumped ship. :sad1:

And speaking of Mel,
I hope you managed to have a great trip despite the icky weather and all of the confusion about your arrangements. :umbrella:

And a thanks again to you all who have kept my sister in your thoughts...we were in court again last week and things went very well for her. The judge expressed his displeasure with her husband's attorney for serving her divorce papers in the ICU at the hospital. She goes back in 60 days...yep, right before our cruise...unless the attorneys can work a deal before. All of this has made me contemplate going back to school and getting a law degree...hum?:scratchin

Well, it's about time to pick up DS at Marching Band practice so I'd better get moving.

Hope you all are having a great week!
Lauraºoº

Teresa, rent 1 day at CC get the other free wow. Well I just might sign up to rent a bike for myself! Both days biking on the island would be a good way to get in some exercise and some crosstraining for the 1/2 marathon. What time did you book the jet ski tour for? Maybe your DH and DS will be doing this at the same time as my DH and DD, I booked theirs for 10:30.

sstucush It's great to see another DIS family on the Thanksgiving cruise! I have a DD10 so sshe is between your girls ages. She is really looking forward to this cruise and has been emailing one of Willie's DD. If either of your DDs or both would like to be email buddies with her so they can"meet" before the cruise just let me know. When I booked the jet ski tour for CC I only asked about booking on the first day.

Laura That final payment sure was a chunk for us too. I really don't want to see my next credit card bill  I'm glad to here things are going well for your sister, hopefully you will have more good news for us on that before we sail

Cheryl :sunny:

Cheryl--my family are not morning people, so I knew to not book them on something where they had to be up and off the boat too early:rolleyes: rather than deal with grouchy boys, I booked them on the 1pm excursion.

I, on the other hand, have no problems getting up to do fun stuff, so if anyone wants to meet for an early morning power walk around the island:wave:

Has anyone looked into Costa Maya just in case GC is taken off our port of call list?:earseek:
