Magic 11/20/04 Thanksgiving Cruisers?

P.S. Doogie............The "D" in director means.....do as little as possible....or is it deligate.....or, nope.....it means DRINK MILLER LITE!!!!

Saturday is gonna be here before we know it! :thewave:

I am so excited! DH, Eric, and DS, Nic, are finally starting to show their enthusiasm...they are a little slow, but now it's like gangbusters for Eric. He's even started singing around the house, "We're going on a cruise!!":boat: :jumping1: Nic has been preoccupied with school work...trying to get everything turned in and get started on the work he will miss so it's not such a huge pile when we return.

And today is such a great day because I can log-in to the DIS boards at home again!!!:worship:

Diversions sounds fine...I prefer a NS area to meet like many of the others, but will hang out where the "IN CROWD" is. :grouphug:

Lampy...
I swear you are full of surprises...let us know what happens with that girlfriend at DCL...:wizard:

As for letting the kids check in and out of the lab...Nic is 12 1/2 and very responsible...or so his momma thinks...I plan to let him do this on his own with some strict rules. Dagnabit! That is the one more thing I have to do...print out his Rules of Expected Behavior for the cruise. :listen:

As for how much time Nic will spend in the lab and away from the parental units? I haven't a clue. We tend to hang together on vacation, but this will be our first cruise and his first chance at meeting some kids his age so I really can't say.

Weather predictions....
At least as nice as it is here in Southern Illinois...70º today and overcast. I figure anyplace that has a beach, a big boat and a bunch of those foofy drinks has got to be better....oh, and no students to deal with or clients to rescedule.:crowded:

Disneycruisin...
An idea for the tshirts...one of my fun jobs that the boys groan about then are happy to wear. You could find some clip art images of what your area looks like...then one of a space shuttle (Port Canaveral)...one of a stingray for Grand Cayman...one of something Mexican...Lampy, keep the burros out of this one...and one from CC. I made one for our "Rock and Roll Road Trip" in 2002...an old station wagon for the road trip, an Indy race car for our stop at Indianapolis, a huge scare the beegeebas out of you roller coaster for our stop at Cedar Point and a 50s style jukebox for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Each of these was attached to the clover leaf of the interstate graphic I found.

Well, I need to run...gotta listen to Nic's science presentation...I will check back at least once more before Saturday. I am really looking forward to meeting you all...or as I'm getting used to saying...ya'll.

Take Care!

Just found these boards and then had trouble signing on..

We will be there with bells on this Saturday. Just printed the 26 page list of things to bring with us and tips and have been pouring over that.. Putting clothes together and will be taking a trip to the Dollar Store and to the drug store for all the little odds and ends..

This is our first cruise.. we are so excited.. It will be me and DH, and the DD, who will be turning 16 in 2 weeks, and the DS who is 10.

Certainly hoping to meet other families! We have been to Disney 8 times ( just down there last week for a seminar and got to spend some quality Disney time! it was great! ) and a friend who is the Cruise Queen has done 16 cruises and says the Disney Magic is the best!

So far we have booked the Fury Catamaran Excursion in Cozumel and still debating what to do in GC.. a bit bummed about not going to Key West.. we really wanted to do that..

Hope to hear from you all and sorry that I just go on this board! Really looking forward to a great cruise!

Christine............welcome!!!! Missing Key West is a bummer but believe me Castaway Cay is paradise..........you won't regret going there twice!!!

Welcome Christine and family! I have a ds16 and a ds12, so our kids will be around each other a lot over a week! Didja see our other site? You can see what some of us look like so it seems like you are meeting up with friends!

When are you flying in?

:bounce

Thanks! I have been backreading the boards and realized how much I missed! I know I can't miss Willie and his family after seeing their picture! Will definately be looking for them, and was wondering who this Lampy was! Sounds like it is going to be a blast already!

We fly out bright and early from Baltimore at 7am so we will be in Orlando at 9am.. ( yes the DD will be very chipper- she is cheering at a playoff game Friday night..fun fun..) taking the DCL bus to PC and will be there bright and early looking for some fun..

Will your DS be going to the teens club? I know I want my DD to go and plan on sending the DS to the Lab.. looking forward to some family time but some adult time will be great too..

Any recommendations for things to do at GC?

I can't believe it's this Saturday!

Christine:earsgirl:

Didn't mean to sound too strict on that last post. I don't worry about my DS (11) he's responsible, but my DD (9 also responsible) is my baby :). My son doesn't hang w/ us much; likes the labs and chums around with friends he meets. My daugher in the past is hot/cold in the labs. Sometimes they're OK, other times she like to stay with us. She's becoming more outgoing than she used to be.

chf0729, welcome. Our kids don't like Key West. It struck me as a dirty, crowded place... not well suited for kids. You'll love two days at CC. Do the bikes. The trail isn't very long, but at the other end of the runway, the trail is beautiful... or at least used to be before the hurricane. Rent tubes or floats. Snorkel before the crowd stirs the water up.

Dont forget the aloe or solarcaine in case of sunburn. I also take a small first aid kit, as well as some ziplock baggies to keep $$ and ID's dry. We also have one of those waterproof carrying cases. Over the door shoe holders also also nice, not for shoes but small bathroom items, shampoo, razor....

Lampy, I like that Drink Miller Lite or was it Drink with WMiller? You're a riot dude!!

My ds told me on our last cruise (he was 10) "Mom, I am responsible and you can trust me" . . and we could. He is not the type to run around on the boat. He LOVES the Lab and that is why we are cruising again before he gets too old. I gave him the old "you are not to be running around" etc speech last time, and it worked.

Now that he is 12 though, the speech will have to be more forceful ::yes::

Have you tried to book something on GC Christine? We are doing Capt Marvins sting ray and snorkel tour. DH is not--not his cup of tea.

No, we booked the excursion on Cozumel, being the first cruise wasn't sure if I wanted to book another one, but was thinking about the Stingrays. heard that was great.. a post a few pages back said something about all the excursions being booked, is that true?

Definately looking forward to some R&R, floats.. etc on CC.. Key West would have been nice for DH and me, but kids would have not been happy.. CC would be much better for them....

We did not book our GC tour with DCL--we heard so many great things about Capt Marvins we just booked directly with them.

chf0729,

We normally don't book with DCL. We've done Capt. Marvin's they were great. This time we've booked with NativeWay on GC. Leaves the pier @ 9am.

My favorite all time excursion was on St. Martin. We chartered a racing cigarette boat for the day. If you want pics visit www.offshoresunsations.com. It was wonderful. You'll see our pics under testimonials. No, we are NOT the folks who covered themselves with mud.

Besides Palo, anyone have any favorite restaurants on the ship?
I love Lumiers for breakfast (eggs benedict mmmm). You can't beat the atmosphere in Artists Palatte (sp?) for dinner.

Doug

Well the kids are pretty much packed & Mark too, guess I need to get my clothes ready too. Excited to meet all of you, save us a few shrimps please.

Looking foward to Drink(s) of the day, Castaway & tacos at Plutos!!

Sorry guys, it's 12:30 our time and I'm a little slow.......

bfosbenner........CDJ..but me I'm in the "special' dept. If 71 units and 4100 a copy makes sence.........I'm sure we'll talk!!!!!
Doogie.......you think we are a riot now.........wait till midnight Sat. or Sun. or Mon. or...............

what ever happend to that "99 bottles of beer on the wall post?"

I'm working tomorrow (oooppppssssss today!!) from 9 till 1 but I'll be useless..........

Remember pack all you THINK you need and take half out!!!!!!!!!!!

HEY GUYS TOMORROW (TODAY) WILL BE MY 1400th POST........WHO'S BUYING MY A DRINK????????????

I would like to say that I am fully packed, and have been since Monday. . the rest of my family still is not packed! DS16 has his stuff laid out, but had major tests in all of his classes this week and we did not want to bug him with packing when he had to study. . . and as for ds12. . . :upsidedow

Lampy, I think the rule is that the one with the 1400 posts BUYS the drinks, not the other way around. :teeth:

Good morning!
We will be in the car, heading down in 12 hours
Lamps-you just proved to my wife that there are other people that are more nuts about Disney than me.......
I can't wait to be with my people!
John

John how far away are you from the port--three hours? Where are you staying tonight? Going to Disney tomorrow?

edit

silly me--I thought you lived in Florida!

I'm not sure if I regret or am glad that I didn't get on this board until now..... ! Stayed up late on it and first thing before getting ready for work signed on to see what else is new.. it's very addictive I can see!

going to look into that Capt Marvins excursion.. thanks for the tip! I am such a newbie!

2 days from now will be jetting down the runway on our way..

Christine
