We currently have the St. John on your own booked for our excursion but I would rather take the kids to the beach if possible. I see Magen’s Bay Beach - has anybody ever gone to Magen’s Bay Beach without having an excursion booked and what’s the easiest way to get there with kids (3 and 8).

We did years ago with our girls when they were similar ages. I remember there being open air buses at the port that we took. I believe there was also a small fee at the beach but that was years ago. We are doing it again in April.

We went in Feb 2020. There are “safari” open air buses at the port that go over the mountain to Magens. You just walk out and ask a port worker or taxi attendant where the buses to magens are. 1676253959497.jpeg

I went in 2016. We took a cab there and stayed a good chunk of the day. The driver stayed and waited for us the whole time we were there. It was pretty easy and didn't cost very much. But I have no idea how much a cab would cost now.

Yes, we went about five years ago and liked it. The bay protects the beach from strong currents quite nicely. The taxi situation is very easy: they are shared, open-air taxis and there are dispatchers for them both at the cruise port and at the beach.
