We've been on the Maelstrom ride many times, but I've yet to figure out how to exit after the ride discreetly without having to sit thru the Norway movie. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, very lovely scenes of a beautiful country and all, but I don't wish to watch it EVERY time I want to ride the Maelstrom!

Every time we have gone on, when the doors open the exit doors on the other side are still open and we just go straight across and out. Many people choose to stay and no one is "offended" when you leave with the last group of people!

I have been on this ride probably 10 times and have NEVER seen the movie. You need to make sure you are in front of the doors when they open and walk VERY VERY fast because the exit doors on the other side only stay open so long. It worked everytime.

As you enter the theatre, just keep going out the exit doors. They keep them open until the show starts. This last trip, over half the people did this. What a shame, its a very nice show and only last a few minutes..smjj

No Problem, just walk through. The harder question is how do you not wait outside the movie and get out. I've been trying to figure that one out for a couple of years now. Anyone ever done it?

What's wrong with the movie? They don't torture you in there. It's only about 5 minutes and gives you a look at some nice scenery in Norway.

I really do wish they would build an exit that would bypass the movie. It is very nice but I do not want to see it every time.

In addition the way they release people from the ride in such large hordes it makes it almost impossible to shop in the gift shop without getting run over by the flood of people leaving.

If there was an exit that was open all the time it would be a more steady stream of people and would not be so disruptive of anyone who wished to shop.

If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend that you watch it at least once.

The CMs usually spiel that if you do not wish to view the movie, you may bypass it by walking straight across the theater throught the open doors.

The CMs are not offended by people who do not stay for the movie. If you don't want too see it, why are you so concerned about hurting their feelings by leaving?

The doors stay open for quite a while. The CM in the theater controls when the movie starts, so he or she will not start it until everyone coming in or going out is situated. If the doors close while you are en-route to them, simply push them open. They do not lock, and as long as the movie hasn't started, you won't be thought of as rude (if the movie has already started, you won't be able to get in to the theater, so this is not likely to happen unless you actually are a rude person, in which case, what are you worried about? ;)
Seriously, though, there's no need to run or even to "walk VERY VERY fast," there's no trick to it, you're not getting away with anything, because it really is no big deal.

(it is, however a big deal if you feel the need to press the "Wheelchair" button that holds one set of automatic doors open for a couple of minutes. If you're not in a wheelchair, don't touch it. That too will make you look rude... again, if you are rude, nevermind.)

Gee, I don't think I'm a rude person :( I have seen the film many times and it's very nice. It's just that sometimes we like to just go on the ride several times and not stay for the movie each time. I guess because I'm always busy sheparding my flock (I have 5 children), I never noticed that you could go thru the theatre to the exit; or maybe by the time I got everyone together and into the theatre, the exit doors were closed already, I don' t know. I guess I was imagining an exit from the area outside the theatre where you step out of the boats. It seems we always end up sitting there for quite awhile before we even enter the theatre. Maybe it just SEEMS like a long time since I'm trying to keep my kids from getting restless. So anyway, thank you, you've answered my question--I'll just have to be more prepared when the theatre doors open.
