I have been considering this move for some time but always held off because of the cost and fear Canon would make a big jump with the 7d mkii or announce an upgrade for the 6D.

I follow Canon Price Watch and all the other Canon sites and found a deal I couldn't pass up. I got my wife's approval and it arrived this past Tuesday. Price was $2650 for the 6D body and 24-70 F4 IS combo. There is currently a $200 rebate for the body and a $250 combo rebate when purchasing the lens so $450 total rebate. This brings the price to $2199. Purchasing the 6D kit with 24-105 was cheaper but after reading reviews and trying both I liked the 24-70 better.

Using it the last 2 days I am taking images I could only dream of with the T2i. I have shot high ISO up to 12,800 and while there is noise its fairly easy to correct in Lightoom. Those images are not being blown up big but would be quite usable at 8x10's

I was able to carry over my 70-200 f4 IS to this setup and I think that makes a nice 2 lens combo. Now really looking forward to my November Disney trip with the new gear. I will borrow a 50mm 1.4 prime and I should be all set.

Basically I wrote this because if people are thinking of making the jump its worth it.

definitely a good setup for a Disney trip
but I suppose "worth it" for camera gear probably means different things to different people. For some iphone pics are enough, for others they won't settle for anything less than 'full frame'

I love my 6D. Useable ISO 12800 SOOC is pretty awesome.

Have fun with your new baby!
