As some of you probably know, DH and I started South Beach yesterday. Well, I'm proud to say we made it through day 1 cheat free!! I rode my bike for 30 minutes and drank a ton of water. I was going to the restroom so much yesterday that a couple of times I almost didn't make it!!! I know some of the secretaries in my office must be wondering what's wrong with me. My teen son was polishing off the chocolate fudge cake we baked over the weekend and the little stinker put a big slice in front of me and left the room to see if I would be tempted. The police will never find his body (j/k). He's a sweet boy but he doesn't think DH and I are serious about this lifestyle change. We are. My son was almost impressed when he came back in the room to find his cake waiting for him!
Now for my cute little story. Last night I was making sirloin burgers on our George Forman grill when we lost power for about three hours. I made DH's burger first. I was just going to have a salad even though by that time I was starving!!! Without any prompting DH split the burger with me. It was just so sweet to see the look on his face in the candlelight. I knew he was pretty hungry too but we made a feast out of our half burgers, salads and ice tea (with Splenda) and had sugar free fudgesicles for dessert.
I know it may not be a big deal to someone else but I thought that was so sweet of him. If it was my burger, I don't know if I would have shared with him
. Just kidding. I did feel so much better after I ate and I learned two very valuable lessons. One, my husband is a great guy and two, never ever let myself get that hungry!!! From now on, I'll be making dinner when I get home from work in the evenings instead of waiting several hours.
On with Day 2!
