I am not a good writer so I am not sure how good it will be but I am going to try to start a Pre-trip report.
My name is Dawn. I am mom to Adam(11) and Madison(4) and wife to Mark.
We are going to Disney World February 28th thanks to my daughter Madison's Make a Wish. She wants to meet the Princesses.
How did we get to this point? Well it all started in April 2009 when Maddie had an ear infection on Wednesday,on antibiotics Thursday and by Sunday her right cheek was swollen. I took her to the ER thinking she had fluid in her ear canal that wasn't draining. The ER doctor looked in throat and her soft palate was pushed down. He ordered a Ct scan immediately then within a half hour we were being told they were arranging for her to be transported to Children's Hospital. The doctor couldn't tell us for certain what the mass was but he thought cancer. Monday we were told it was definately cancer, not sure what kind, by Friday she was starting chemo for Rhabdomyosarcoma. We were sent for radiation to Boston for 8 weeks just 4 weeks after diagnoses. It was just Maddie and I for much of the time in Boston. So we are all really looking forward to this.
We are all so excited!! She will be done treatments mid February, so this is her reward for being so brave and strong for the last year and Adam's reward for being the strong and patient big brother.
