Mad Hatter Tea and Pirate Cruise for Kids?????

Does WDW still have the Mad Hatter Tea and Pirate Cruise for kids???? My kids will be 6 and 12 during the next WDW trip. They would love that! S

They do still offer the Wonderland Tea Party with Mad Hatter and Alice at 1900 Park Fare I believe on Wednesday's. My daughter enjoyed it a lot, it was $30 and she received a cupcake, chicken nuggets or a ham sandwich (she can't remember) and apple tea. The set up was darling. It was nice to drop her off for an hour, eat a wonderful meal at the Grand Floridian Cafe, plan out the rest of our day and check out the gorgeous lobby and shop (they have Alice costumes in the Grand Floridian Gift Shop, alhough I didn't pick one up $48 Yikes).

The still have the pirate cruise for boys, but I don't know any of those details.

Wonderland Tea Party

Even children can experience some of the charms that the Grand Floridian has to offer in one of its most recent offerings, the Wonderland Tea Party. At this pint-size tea party, guests from 3 to10 years of age will hear stories, have a little lunch and be entertained by some Disney characters known to participate in a famous tea party of their own. The children will take a “hands-on” approach to their dining as they finger-paint/decorate their own cupcakes and munch on heart-shaped peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Chocolate dipped Rice Krispie squares, and the Grand Floridian’s special brand of children’s tea (aka apple juice) is also served.

The “Wonderland Tea Party” is offered Monday and Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the cost is $28.17 per child. There is a maximum of 25 children to ensure that each child gets a lot of personal attention from the entertainment (Mad Hatter & Alice usually, but this is subject to change) and the recreation Cast Members. Parents are welcome to stay and observe the fun, but may prefer to use the time to book a spa treatment, shop (in the elegant Grand Floridian shops), take a walking tour of the beautiful grounds, have a quick lunch at the Grand Floridian Café, rent watercraft at the marina or just sit and enjoy the ambience of the magnificent lobby. Call (407)WDW-DINE to book this or check with Guest Services at the resort. This can be booked 120 days in advance.

Cancellations must be done at least 24 hours in advance or there is a $10 “no show” charge. Children attending the Tea Party must be potty trained and must arrive 15 minutes prior to tea-time.

Pirate Cruise

Any child who has ever dreamed of being part of a pirate adventure will enjoy this recent venture by the Grand Floridian Recreation team. Children ages 4-10 will be outfitted with a pirate bandanna and board their pirate ship (pontoon boat) at the Grand Floridian that is equipped with telescopes and a map to aid them in their quest to find the hidden treasure.

They will sail to exotic ports-of-call masquerading as other resort marinas, and find and follow clues that take them throughout the Seven Seas Lagoon. Lunch is served to give these little adventurers the sustenance they need to complete their mission. At the last port-of-call, the adventurers split up to hunt for the treasure. When the children return to the boat, they discover that the treasure has been found! A treasure chest full of goodies like jeweled rings, pirate "gold", Mardi Gras beads, noisemakers and rubber snakes awaits them.

This awesome adventure is being offered Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon, it will be offered on Wednesdays as well (available to book now). You should be there no later than 9:15 a.m. You can book this 90 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) to do so.

The cost is $30.01 per child, a credit card is required at the time of booking, and parents must sign a waver upon arrival. Cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance and no show/ not canceled 24 hours in advance, is full charge.

My children (then DS-4 and DD-7) both did the Wonderland Tea Party and Pirate's Adventure Cruise. The picture of them getting ready to board the cruise is below...they loved it. They still have the bandanas with the Mickey ears and will use them next year on Pirate Night on the Disney Wonder curise!!

I see that you are looking at going next year... I hope this information isn't too late to help. I would book asap. When I booked, they were filling up and I found out that they had to turn away kids for both activites. This was in April of 2003. Good Luck!

My children have done both of these activities and they enjoyed them both. Keep in mind that your 12 year old will not be able to participate since the age limit is 10. We took our 12 yr. old to breakfast at Kona Cafe and tennis lessons instead while his brother and sister were on the pirate cruise and DH did stuff with the boys while their sister did the tea party. It is nice to have a little one-on-one time every now and then.

Does anyone know if the Wonderland Tea Party can be booked 120 days in advance or is it 90 days in advance? I have read conflicting info on the web.

It is 90 days and you can't book it with the 90+10 AR policy, it must be 90 days exactly.

DS did the pirate cruise 2 years ago and they did make them wear life jackets. Both boys will be doing the albatross cruise this January.

It's a similar kids cruise that takes off from the Beach Club and I believe even wanders into Epcot. I heard there was room for 12 kids per cruise or something like that so it may be smaller than the Grand Floridian one but people seem to like it just as much...

Yes, they make them wear the life jackets. They also must be seated whenever the boat is moving - I am pretty shure they sat 2 to a bench, with like maybe 10 bench seats or so. It is like a small pontoon boat. They also must wear shoes.

The waiver is the standard 'you will not hold Disney or it's employees liable in case of accident, etc'.

The lunch was a pb&j Smuckers crustless sandwich (DD didn't eat hers) and some sort of chips and fruit snack, I think.

I would re-iterate what a previous poster said about booking the pirate cruises early. I called at the 90 day mark around 1pm and it was already booked.

DNeph (turned 8 on the trip) just did the Albatross cruise. There were about 10 little boys on the cruise about his age and one little girl. The cruise left from the YC Marina in one of the pontoon boats - they searched for clues at the Swan/Dolphin, the boardwalk, into WS and stopped at both Mexico and Canada - then to the beach at BC where they picked up and ate lunch on the boat and searched the beach for their 'treasure'. Brought the treasure chest back to the marina where the captain gave out the goodie bags inside to all the pirates - "AAARGH!" They all had a blast and posed for group photos with the 'crew' (captain and mate). There was one little boy who cried at the beginning and the captain was so wonderful - pulled him aside and talked to him - wonderful to watch the way he handled it and reassured him and got him to stop crying and leave his dad - even he came back to the dock with a smile on his face (PS, his dad was also awesome - being so understanding and gentle with him ). DNeph gave it a big thumbs up !!
