Mad dash to book SSR?

Was there a mad dash to book at BCV when it first opened?
Was the resort finished for opening?
(I stayed at CS for grand opening and only one section was finished! I hated looking out at all that construction.)
We have ressies for BCV for June. Might be fun to try out SSR instead.
Will everyone else have the same thoughts?

I think it will be an easy booking. DVC will likely keep more villas declared into inventory than are actually sold.

Reservations for SSR owners will begin 12/1/03. DVC owners at other resorts may start to make reservations in February. Only one building will be finished by 5/1/03 so the pioneer first visitors will be seeing a lot of construction.

DVC built walls between OKW and the construction - I would expect SS to be handled the same way

No - DVC was very tight with points on both VWL and BCV - they only let member use what they had sold plus a little more - I don't know how they will be at SS

I don't think the demand for SS will be same at all - BCV is next door to Epcot - VWL was a boat ride away from the MK - and is still the only DVC resort that is a MK resort.

Unless you really want to do PI until very late - I just don't see the demand there for SS - now haven't say that I will probably try to get reservations next year sometime - I have all those plus passes to use. also probably some Christmas shoppers that would normally stay at OKW - might try SS - because it has a better location for shopping at DD. (points are higher)

BCV was 40% sold out by the time it opened. SSP won't be 40% sold for several years from when it opens comparing to the 552 units announced.

Any DVC member will be able to reserve at 7 months out, they will not hold the units for only SSR members unless they are over 7 months from that date. I would wait until its at least a year old before trying it unless that's all they had as the construciton early on will be very close by.

My understanding is that only SSR owners would be able to make any reservations between 12/1/03 and February 2004. I thought that this was because there would only be a few buildings completed until later in 2004, so SSR owners would be given a 2-month preference. Did I misunderstand?

I don't have any official word but it would be new territory for DVC to hold rooms for members inside the 7 month window. Besides, it won't be needed. SSR will be an easy score while it's selling, even the first week.
