I love BOTH of them!

 What are you saying, Missy?

I am certain you two would be whistling a different tune had you tried my favorite entree...pot roast hash and eggs! :dance3:

Do you mind-some of us are trying to diet here! Keep your calorie-laden posts to yourself please! ;)

Bonnie~did you ever have Lamar's donuts in Vegas?

I feel like I haven't been on here in forever!!!!!! Hi to all of you freaks. Congrats, sympathies, awwwwww, and I agree to everything that I've missed. Sorry, but I'm way too lazy to go back to check for specifics.

I would like to throw a special shout out to my "TULIP" pal. You know who you are!

Hey, Granny! Thank you! When are you coming back to D.C. and having lunch with Shannon and me? :confused3

Yeah!! When Granny, when????

HHAHAHAHAHAH! :rotfl: I can't help it if I'm cheerful all the time! And what about you? It's not like you go around like a sourpuss all the time!

Hey! Don't ruin my brooding, mysterious image!

Oh, good. That makes two of us that dislike her. -- Rob

Awww...:cloud9: It's a regular Shannon lovefest tonight!

I can get from my house to Bob Evans without going through a single stoplight BUT I don't care for it much myself. We also have a Cracker Barrel across the highway (do have to go through a stoplight to get there) and a local restaurant (The Corner Cafe) right in this area also that I prefer over Bob Evans (with me preferring The Corner Cafe over Cracker Barrel).

-- Rob

Concise much?;)

Ok, I'm heading home from work now (since I'm obviously no longer doing actual work) and am hoping that the roads are clear of ice and traffic.

Chat at you all later!

-- Rob

They will be! All that ice has packed up and headed for DC!!!

I like Cracker Barrel better too. Hashbrown casserole yummo!

well that's just great Becca! I was trying to eat my Lean Cuisine and pretend it didn't taste like manure, but now that's all shot to heck! Who's up for Cracker Barrell??? DH is paying.:rolleyes1 Not that he's invited. Just paying!!!

Thanks Angie! What do you think? Naughty mat? Spanking?:confused3

What's up hag? I like your all-encompassing post. Think I could incorporate that into a once-per-year card to my mom?
A happy bday ya old lady/merry Christmas Grinch-bag/your a sucky mom but happy mother's day anyway/hope your nasty gout heals soon kind of card?:confused3

Do you realize I grew up on Lamar's donuts? Back when there was only one Lamar's donut stand in the whole world, right here in Kansas City's midtown on Linwood Boulevard, my father would pick up Lamar's on his way home from taking my mother to work on Friday mornings (he would take her every Friday but would go by Lamar's about once a month). The original shop opened in an old gas station building (the pumps long gone) in 1960 and the neighborhood surrounding it started to deteriorate in the late 1960s like in so many of our inner cities.

Fast forward many years to Rob getting married to his DW (a real suburban gal -- I grew up in the suburbs like her but she seldom ever left them while I had exposure to the inner city) and the very first place I took her for breakfast??? Lamar's, of course. (Duh. Are you even paying attention in this post? Sheesh). She was a bit hesitant (WTH? Why wouldn't a wife trust her husband?) but agreed to go in. We bought a dozen and two milks and went back to the hotel and she fell in love with them.

Ray Lamar's health started to fail and he closed the original shop in 2003. Ray died in November 2005 and the building was demolished in 2006 or so. We now have about seven or so Lamar's in the Kansas City area (all franchisee locations) but none of them have quite the same feel as the original shop did. We do, however, stop by the location about five miles from our house about once a month or so and pick up donuts for the boys (DW and I try to abstain as best we can but we usually fail to do so) so the family tradition continues in a sense.

Concise much? How does one do an adjective much? I'd like to buy a VERB, Pat. @@

First you say you don't like me, now you're calling me a sexually ambiguous person? That's it! No more donuts for you!!

Seriously. I KNOW concise is an adjective! I was trying to be CONCISE by not forming a proper sentence. Duh.;) Plus, I try to use the word "much" as frequently as possible. Some favorite concise examples:

Bathe much?
Annoy much?
Walk much?

As you can see, these simple, sarcasm laden gems can be used in a multitude of situations! However, they are only effective if used with as much smart-behinded intonation as one can possibly muster. (See? I can be the exact opposite of concise. In other words, Rob-ish!!!!;) :rotfl: )

Well, with your man hands... :rolleyes1

Bathe, annoy, walk -- all work because they are VERBS! :sad2: I'm just giving you a hard time. I knew what you meant. Why be concise? If I'm concise, you don't get all these little tidbits and insights into me.

Ok, even though the hotT blonde is here, I still need to head off to bed. DS12 came down with the flu yesterday afternoon and I'm trying to make sure I get enough rest so that I can hopefully avoid it. :scared:

Night Chatters!

-- Rob

Hi chatters! Long time no chat! I'm burning the midnight oil getting my paperwork done cause I am the queen procrastinator. I'm telling ya though, I'm turning over a new leaf. Tomorrow. ;)

Well, my new border moves in this weekend. I told you I couldn't say no! Really though, 8 people, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a fish can live in perfect harmony, right? I kid! It's gonna be fine. She's a teen, so she'll hole up with my other one and I won't see much of her anyway. And I made absolutely no promises that she wouldn't return home knocked up and/or needing rehab so it should be a breeze. I don't have to parent this one, just keep her alive. :upsidedow

Ok now I have Ebony and Ivory stuck in my head. That song was the shizzle back in the day!!

Hope all you guys are well and warm! :grouphug:

Oh, and I think I'm having some ADD moments lately. Whatcha think??

Good Morning Chatters and Happy Friday. :cool1:

Stephanie it's been so long since we've chatted. Good luck with the new teen. How long is she here for?

Morning, Chatters! It's icy and rainy and slushy. I'm at work and this place is a ghost town! I like it! I have to watch the front while the principal goes to the doctor. I don't have a single student yet!

Good morning chatters!

It's snowing here, but not enough to stay home.

I want it big when it snows so I can have a snow day. :rotfl:
None of this 3-4 inches stuff.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! any plans?

Hey there, Muff n' stuff. 3 to 4 inches would be the "Blizzard of '08" here! :rotfl: It's actually perfect here, I think! In Vegas we had only two seasons. Here we get all four, and it does not get extremely cold or hot. I love it!

As for the weekend, I'm going to stay home. I have not been feeling well and I just want time to sleep and chill. What about you?

You lived in Vegas? How do you manage that heat?

I like the 4 seasons. Our winters aren't that cold anymore so it's not that bad.

I hope you get plenty of rest and feel better. :thumbsup2

Girl, I hated living in Vegas! But yeah, I spent my whole life there until a year and a half ago, when we moved here! It was soooooo hot! And I really don't enjoy being hot! :upsidedow I am really liking it here. My girls like VA too! I do think people are a little different here. A little more reserved and harder to get to know. I have met a lot of people through work, and they have all been really great, wonderful people. But as far as getting to know neighbors and stuff, it's different than it was in Vegas.

Hi Stephanie! I'm thinking you need a sign outside of your house

"Stephanie's House for Wayward Teens and Semi-Addled Elderly---Come on In!" You are definitely 40 times more patient and generous than I am! Or maybe you've completely taken leave of your senses????;)

Good Morning Chatters and Happy Friday. :cool1:

Morning Tricia! What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Morning neighbor!!! Any kids show up yet? Or teachers, for that matter? Amazing how there's a little rain, a little ice and people freak out here!

You ain't kidding!!! I think every school within a 65 mile radius is closed, and Ryan just called and said the roads are clear! Hope you start feeling better soon--- no weekend outings for you!

I guess there is an upside to global warming!:rotfl:

Hey, Shanaynay! Well, I do have two students now, but the are in with Riley's class right now. They only have 6 in his class so far, and both their teachers are there. My assistant will be here in five minutes, so she can take them then. I am watching the front desk! :dance3:

What are you doing this weekend? Is this cake fest weekend? Have you decided what you will do?

I hear ya!! It's because people here are so transient-- used to government/military jobs where they move every couple of years, and also aren't allowed to talk about their jobs. Secrecy is a big part of peoples' lives here, which doesn't translate well to being a friendly neighbor, unfortunately.

I've learned the hard way that it's best not to ask people what they do for a living around here, unless they bring it up first!

No doubt!

I will say that I LOVE the parents of my students, especially this year! I have never had any problems at all. They help their children at home, are involved in their child's education, are very helpful and supportive with any behavior issues, and they all participate in family projects and stuff. It's fabulous.
