Hey, Shanaynay! Well, I do have two students now, but the are in with Riley's class right now. They only have 6 in his class so far, and both their teachers are there. My assistant will be here in five minutes, so she can take them then. I am watching the front desk! :dance3:

What are you doing this weekend? Is this cake fest weekend? Have you decided what you will do?

Just to fill everyone in, my DH volunteered me last minute to make a cake for DS 9's Boy Scout banquet. Ok, kind of annoying, but no problem. And, oh yeah, he forgot to mention that it's a cake decorating contest. Have I mentioned that I supremely suck at decorating cakes? sigh...

Well, hopefully the Boy Scout Banquet won't be postponed due to (rain?:confused3 ), because I spent an hour preparing fondant icing yesterday. Today I'll bake, dye the fondant, and hopefully all will go well when I roll it out. It's my first time using fondant, so I am NOT holding my breath!!! It's a Mardi Gras theme, so hopefully I can slap some beads and a mask on it to camouflage my lack of skillz!

I'll take pics. It'll either turn out well, or be the ugliest cake you've ever laid eyes on. If I were placing bets, I'd go for the ugly!

Wooohoooo! Yeah, take a pic, for sure!! I am looking forward to that! Great idea using a mask and beads. And I have every faith in your cake decorating skills. I'll bet you have a good shot of winning!

Good Morning Chatters and Happy Friday. :cool1:

Stephanie it's been so long since we've chatted. Good luck with the new teen. How long is she here for?
Tricia!!! It's been fooorrrrrrrreeeeevvvvverrrr!! Thank you so much. She's here until the end of the school year. I hope. Her parents are giving me guardianship until the end of June "just to be safe". :scared1:

Hi Steph! :flower3: Good luck with the new teen situation! I hope all the girls get alone great!
Thanks Bon! I know my oldest and her will. They've been best friends since 2nd grade.
Hi Stephanie! I'm thinking you need a sign outside of your house

"Stephanie's House for Wayward Teens and Semi-Addled Elderly---Come on In!" You are definitely 40 times more patient and generous than I am! Or maybe you've completely taken leave of your senses????;)

Semi?? Psh! ;) I'm completely addled. No doubt. I don't know that I'm all that generous, just a softie. :cool2:

Girl, I hated living in Vegas! But yeah, I spent my whole life there until a year and a half ago, when we moved here! It was soooooo hot! And I really don't enjoy being hot! :upsidedow I am really liking it here. My girls like VA too! I do think people are a little different here. A little more reserved and harder to get to know. I have met a lot of people through work, and they have all been really great, wonderful people. But as far as getting to know neighbors and stuff, it's different than it was in Vegas.

I'm glad the girls like it. It's hard for kids to move sometimes.
You'll get used to the neighbors soon enough.

I'm impressed! Decorating cakes sounds good.
Picture will be needed! ;)

The most decorating I'd do is putting candles on a cake. :rolleyes1
I don't cook or bake.

Steph, how has MIL been lately? Any more incidents with crayon makeup?

Great-now I want Lamar's, Cracker Barrel, cake and hash (food not drugs) ;)!
I just found out we have a Lamar's here and I'm totally stoked! Huge sugar-loaded globs of sheer heaven! This may be blasphemy but I've always liked Lamar's better than Krispy Kreme.

While on the food topic do any of you have Papa Murphy's Pizza? You buy the pizzas uncooked and take them home and pop them in the oven. They are delish and cheap! I'm totally blowing the diet tonight-Papa Murphy's and a few nice cold Bass (since I'm in the clarification mode: beer not fish)! :cool1: Is it time to go home yet?

It's raining here again. I think Mother Nature forgot that this is supposed to be the DESERT!

1. :yay: :cheer2: :yay:

2. Duh. Who wouldn't?

3. We do. I like them well enough but I also like the "fresh" uncooked pizzas we can get at our local supermarket too so we normally just do those if we want to do the heating up ourselves.

4. Sure. Go ahead and go home.

Hey there Chattys! Loverly morning here in the arctic circle otherwise known as the great lake state.

Joanne, I am so in for a Kohls shopping spree. They know my name at our local one so I'm traveling to yours. Is it warm where you live?

Shanananana, good luck with the cake lady! I have no words of wisdom since I buy my cakes from Sam's Club. They decorate beautifully.

Bonster, I agree about the neighbor thing, lots of them probably can't talk about their jobs. Dh dad worked for the government in Detroit, he did lots of classified junk and most of their friends were people from work. Easier that way I guess. The neighbors here are very friendly, almost too friendly at times. Although you can always count on someone being out with adult beverages when the weather warms up.

Stephanie, do you need a xanax? You are a better woman than I am. It would all I could handle with the froot loop mother in law.

Angie, we have a Papa Murphys but it's way on the other side of town so we haven't gotten their pizza. I'll have to have dh bring one home one day though. We don't have your famous doughnut chain around here, we have a Krispy Kreme though, on the other side of town. I'm wanting some Cracker Barrel too!

Rob, send me some doughnuts.

Hi Angie!* What's cookin', lady!* Not you, I guess, what with all this talk about fast food! :rotfl:We don't have Papa Murphy's here, that I know of, but in Vegas we used to get it all the time!! MMMMMMMmmmmm!!*

Becca, don't you have a trip to DC planned soon? :confused3 ;) We could go eat at cracker barrel, melting pot, BOB EVANS ;), both donut shops, etc. T'would be an excellent meet! You come took, Angie!

The New York area doesn't have any of those places.
We got good pizzerias though.

We just got Four Brothers hambergers. They're good but they give so much fries!
I can't eat there that often. One meal and I've gained 3 pounds. :rotfl:

Bonnie, how many kids showed up?
Many people stayed home including my boss!

As of 10:00, when I left, there were four kids out of 20 in my class who showed.

That's funny you have Four Brothers, we have Five Guys. They make excellent hamburgers! And I don't even like Burgers!

I have never been to NYC, but now that I live only 4 hours away, I definitely will sometime. Looks fun!

You're right it's Five Guys. four, five I was close. :rotfl:

HHAHHAHAHAHA, good try, Muffy! :rotfl2:
Their fries are excellent, but I hardly ever get them. The order is way too big, even for a glutton like me. :)

Hi Stephanie

That is really nice of you to take her in. :)
Thanks MJ! Why don't we call you that more often? It has the cool Spidey thing going on. Wait - is Spiderman cool, or has geeky DH infected me?? :confused3

Steph, how has MIL been lately? Any more incidents with crayon makeup?

MIL is MIL. No more crayons, just ho red lipstick. On every coffee cup that I own. I keep the ones I use on the top shelf now, cause she's a whopping 4'6 or something tiny like that. I don't wanna put my lips on elderly lipstick stains!! Just icks me out. I'm trying to think of a good MIL story and I got nothing. She wanted to go to the hospital last night because I was being mean to her when I asked her to get her pull up (unused :scared: ) out of the floor. DH told her that they won't put her in the hospital just cause she likes the atmosphere. That man has come a long way with his sarcasm since we married. You know I respect a good smart aleck!! Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. :goodvibes
