I need a bit of info on this from experience users. Many other Diser's recommend this one to me.
I am looking for a stroller for my 5 YO that is 52 lbs. We still use a stroller for walks (when I go out to exercise I push her), zoo, and Disney/other trips. The Maclaren says it's weight limit is 55lbs, so I'm scared to buy it since she is close to the limit already. And she is tall too. I think about 46-48 inches. Anyone have a child over that weight limit, and still use it? I gave one a try at Babies r us last night, and I could move it pretty well, much better than the stroller we are currently using. But storage compartment seemed hard to reach. And I don't want to shell out money and then have it fall apart in a year.

So if you have a child in the 50+ lb range and still use it, I would love to hear what you think.

If you do decide to get one, Maclaren has an outlet on eBay... so far I have heard great things from everyone who ordered from them and they ship super fast.

Right now they have a 2009 green stripe Volo for $70 with free shipping. The seller is "babyproductstore". I ordered the Volo accessory pack from them and was very happy.

Yep, I have that one on watch while I'm trying to decide. LOL!

I have a Volo. I also have a 52 lb kid and a 63 lb kid. Want me to do a test drive and see how it fares for ya?

They don't ride in strollers anymore though....but I've owned Maclarens for 8 years and can tell you the difference in push.

The Volo has the smallest wheels though. If you are thinking of going with a Mac, you might want to go up a few models to something with larger wheels if you are going to push a bigger kid.

YES!! I test drive would be awesome!
What models are better? I'm new to the whole Maclaren thing. I jsut know last night when we test drove some, that one seemed to be the one I liked the most. And DD too. But then again we test drove so many, that maybe I don't remember all of the Macarens we tried.

Do you know what the Maclaren store name is? by chance

I live the Volo and think they work great. My DD was right at 55lbs the last time I used one.

How is it on rough terrain

Alos how do you put bags underneathit, That still puzzles me

I have a Maclaren Triumph, and love it. My son is about 40 inches and 40 pounds, and it is easy to puch with him in it.

As far as putting bags underneath, unless it's really small, you can't. I can usually put his jacket and his small backpack, but that's about it.

We have a Volo that has been to disney 3 times in the last year (with us last August for our then 45lb 6 yr old and with friends in January for a 40lb 4 yr old and April for a 35lb 3 year old. My now 47lb 7 year old still enjoys using it if I let him (lazy). He is 47lb and 49 inches. I think his legs look a tad long in it but he says he is comfortable and it pushes alright. My dd used a umbrella stroller (junk) and I was always fighting with dh for the right to push the volo instead.

Another Volo tip... if you get one with a white hood, the wheels will get the hood dirty when it is folded. I got the Maclaren Organizer and before I fold the stroller, I flip the organizer over to keep the hood from getting dirty.

Another thing I did was get 2 carabiner hooks from Home Depot ($.99 each) and attached them to the velcro strap of the organizer. I was always losing those plastic stroller hooks that Babies R Us sells and there is no way these are falling off!

We just got rid of our two Volo strollers. My boys are 54 and 52 pounds. If we were planning another trip somewhere in the next year, I would have kept them. We used them for both WDW trips and loved them. Last year one DS was close to 50 pounds and it was fine.

Storage - the only thing we kept in the bottom of the stroller was rain gear. The stroller folded up fine with it in there. We carried a backpack - for when we just parked and walked. The backpack was fine on the back of the stroller when the boys were in them. When the boys got up, we'd grab the backpack and either carry it, or put it in the seat of the stroller.

Other modifications - I got two lime green dollar store insulated lunch bags and hung them off of the handles. It worked great to carry bottled drinks, snacks, etc. Also, the stroller folded up easily with them on there too. (Just make sure you don't take off the carrying strap, othewise the lunch bag straps slide down and make opening the stroller difficult.)

I sew, so I also configured two drink holders that velcroed (?sp) near the seat for the boys. It worked, except you had to make sure the drinks were out, before folding the stroller. We lost a thermos that way.

It makes me sad to think about our strollers being gone.

I have the Maclaren Volo. Purchased just for Disney. I got it from eBay from the outlet store. It was $55 shipped. I have even let my DD7 sit in it for a bit while at WDW and she is 65 pounds. No problem with the seat ripping or with steering. I can only fit a small backpack behind the seat. Plenty big enough for diapers/wipes/sweatshirts/drinks. I also bought the organizer that hangs from the handles. I put ankle weights on the front just above the wheels to prevent it from tipping. I really LOVE this stroller!

Our Volo has been with us for most of our Disney trips for the past 3 years, including WDW last Oct. ~ DD is petite though ~ maybe 45 lbs. It's a great bigger/older kid stroller.

Any chance you'll be coming near DC area before your trip? I have a Volo that I'm going to sell. It hasn't been used in over a year and was only used about 10 times.

Thanks for eveyones opinion.
Today DD and I went to Babies R Us again to test them aain. We liked the Volo. Really liked it. Then tried the Triumph, and it was about the same, only with a nicer seat. Then we tried the Quest. That was really nice. It was plushy and it was easier than the other 2 to push. Alot easier, and the other two were good. I talked ot the girl working there. I told her I was also interested in the Aprica Presto they had on the website, that had a higher lb limit. But without being able to try it out first, I was torn. She told me to go ahead and order the Aprica and if I didn't like it for any reason to bring it back into the store and they would give me a full refund. Then I could get the Quest if I wanted, or get whatever I may chose..where ever. So I decided that was what I'm gonna do. I know I'll get the Quest if I don't like the Aprica. But since it has a higher weight limit, it might be a tad roomier in the seat for DD. And it is listed as having a higher seat than the others too. Which could make a difference.
I really don't have alot of plans to use it all the time, but even 1 trip to Disney will make it worht it's weight in gold for our family. Even if DD walks 95% of the trip, just carrying my bag and having it there when needed will be a blessing. My sister went to Disney with her 5 year (then) old 1 1/2 years ago and didn't take a stroller. And by day 3 she bought one.(though not a fancy one) She said it made all the difference and didn't regret spending the money on it. She recently adopted a new little girl (well almost a year ago) and now she will get to use it as well.

We have the Volo for DD and she's 8 and 65 lbs. The stroller has held up pretty well, though the seat will sag a bit from the extra weight. We finally stopped using the stroller because it got too uncomfortable for her. Not because of the weight, but because her legs are just too long for it. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find strollers with a weight limit greater than 50lbs. without going into special needs strollers, and they run about $500. :scared1: If it is just for occasional use (i.e. Walks/Disney) the Volo should be fine provided your DD's legs aren't long.
