Maclaren shade hood - waterproof?

Just got a Maclaren Techno Classic and love it - love the custom-fit rain protector, but it doesn't completely cover the hood like my other stroller cover does - so I am wondering if anyone can tell me if the hood itself is already waterproof, or do I need to treat it? If caught in a downpour, it would have to be waterproof to keep the little one dry underneath, since the rain protector just covers the front rim of it. Anyone know for sure? TIA !

I have a Maclaren Triumph and the hood is waterproof. We had an entire day of rain while we were in Disney the beginning of this month and the hood and rain cover kept my DGS very dry.
