Mackinac Island

My DD9 wants so spend her birthday on Mackinac Island. We will be going Sept 3-5. There will be a total of 8 adults and 5 kids going. We are planning on paying for everything but I want to know what you guys think we should do and what would you budget for things like food and souvies? We already booked the Main Street Inn and Suites. Thanks and looking forward to any input that you guys might have!

I was just on Mackinac Island two weeks ago and I can say, the prices have gone up! It was over $28.00 for five pieces of fudge, and that was with a buy four, get one free deal. It was just my boyfriend and I, and this is how our costs broke down:

Arnold Line Roundtrip Tickets (with AAA discount) - $22 each, total $44
Lunch at pub (two burgers/fries meals with soft drinks) - $50 total with tip
Fudge - $29
Sweatshirt (on 50% off clearance) - $15.99
Two magnets - $6.00

Total for 3 hours on the island (it was rainy and cold!) = $145

Don't get me wrong, it was a blast and I would do it again in a heartbeat, but plan on spending tons!

I think bike rentals were around $15-20 an hour, carriage rides were $25 and up per person, and a visit to the fort on the island was $11 for adults.

Have a blast though! You must have a really special little girl who would want to spend her big day on Mac Island!
