Well, it was an interesting weekend. I spent Friday evening/Saturday morning gathering supplies. We did debate going to my sister's house (she's actually in Florida this week, she left Friday morning) but decided to stay home. Made a steak dinner (so we'd have one less thing in the freezer) yesterday, went to bed about 1 AM--storm hadn't hit us yet. We did have some intense rain, but that was it. Woke up at 6 AM, still had power. Went back to sleep, woke up at 8:30. Irene was a Tropical storm by then, and was hitting us. Was sitting in the living room when I heard a nasty noise. Dad went out to check--a large tree had been uprooted, and the upper branches landed on the house!

Luckily, it didn't hit any power lines or land IN the house. The town guys came by to check it at 2:30, they will take care of it, but we may have to wait a bit since it's not on power lines or in the house, and they need a bucket truck to get it out. Scary moment, if it had come thru the house, I may have been hurt (or worse). We never lost power thru the whole thing. I also found out that my office is closed tomorrow. I wasn't going to go in anyway, because the trains aren't running yet. (they shut them down at noon yesterday)
