Another question from me, sorry!
Been having a look around for travel money and at the moment it seems M & S have the best exchange rate, but it say's you may be charged a cash advance fee by your card supplier? :confused3 I would be paying with a visa debit card so does anybody know if i'd get charged or what it is even?

We got some Canadian Dollars from M&S a few months ago, paid using a Nationwide Visa debit card and were not charged a fee.

We were not charged a fee.

M&S have fantastic rates at the moment - they went as high as 1.85 this week!!

I took the money out of the ATM and then went along to buy from M&S so definitely no fees there :thumbsup2

I haven't been keeping tabs on the rate for a few months now, so I'm out of touch - is 1.85 good for just this week, or good generally at the moment?

It really depends who you bank with - I know Lloyds TSB will charge you to buy currency from anyone but them. Best bet is to withdraw the right amount of money from the cash machine :thumbsup2

For what? Buying your currency or spending on holiday?

buying the currency...

I know most credit cards charge something like 2.75% for foreign transactions anyway.

1.85 is the best it's been for years. I remember going a few years back and only getting 1.65!!!

Even the travel agent was saying she's going to the USA next year and is buying her dollars now. It really is a fantastic rate - not sure how long it will last though!!

If you pay by card at M&S rather than cash make sure you take some ID with you.

I bank with Lloyds TSB so i will just take the cash out the bank and go into M & S then i know i won't be charged. Thanks :thumbsup2
